Previously kenna chop was my PIF post for this problematic mod to be given away.
I upgrade the solution from short-term polishing the inner tube to a mid-term solution by applying "Silver Conductive Wire Glue Paste"purchase from ebay.
A light layer on the inner tube increase the connection, hence reduce arcing. If you wonder what's up the trouble of solving the mod issue issue...



Side by size comparison left 4nine, right gus mod. Both 18350 tube.

Interesting, I have 5 4nines and have not experienced any arching issues. The only thing I have had to deal with is the occasionally tarnish buildup causing the mod not to fire. A quick once over with Neverdull and it's as good as new.

The area where the switch contact the inner wall will not tarnish as the switch is always rubbing against it.
The so call "tarnish" you encounter is cause by arching.

Wouldn't arching cause a hot button? I have not had any hot button issues on my 4 4nines. Mine usually needs a polish after I have let it sit. I rotate through 7 mods so they sometimes sit for a few days- week. That is usually when I will have the occasional not fire issue.
