There's a thread over in 'General' that was about cartos. I can't help out, but it was on page 2 and fading fast (only 3+ hours old). It's from a new member so, of course, snails and things come to mind..... I bumped it, but to no quick avail.

Anyway.... can someone answer this ? Maybe the moderator will move it, but ... seems like an easy question (hate it when new users have simple questions that don't get answered for hours). Just me being obsessive I guess.

glad I am not the only one... I have been seeing snails referenced all over for the last 6 months and can’t figure it out...

I am glad you asked since I thought maybe I was just dumb and didn't want to get called out:facepalm: At least their are two off us now. May we should offer bonus points for a response to this question

I guess I shouldn't ruin the mystery for ya, you can hunt around.... it's a snail hunt!

But, since you guys were so GREAT in helping out (thank you)....

A SNAIL is a slow moving thread. It's the kind of thing where (especially a noob) asks a question and their thread gets ignored for hours. Other threads get posted on top, and they feel ignored. Their posts go to page two, etc. The snails group started a thread about this, and then it became a chat thread/social group as well.

I'll leave it to you to find the thread as a kind of "snail hunt"... but it's easy to find (hint... the "today's posts" button will work wonders).

P.S. You all now have 5000 bonus points. lol.

wikipedia said:
Snail is a common name for almost all members of the molluscan class Gastropoda that have coiled shells in the adult stage. When the word is used in a general sense, it includes sea snails, land snails and freshwater snails. Otherwise snail-like creatures that lack a shell (or have only a very small one) are called slugs.

One species of land snail, the Giant African Snail, can grow to be 15 inches (38 cm) from snout to tail, and weigh 2 pounds (0.91 kg). The largest living species of sea snail is Syrinx aruanus which has a shell that can measure up to 91 cm (36 in) in length, and the whole animal with the shell can weigh up to 18 kg (40 lb).
I'll join in with the majority responding who have seen the references for months and hadn't had much clue as to what this was, other than it being something esoteric and I was left out.

So, it's pretty much like Response on Threads

At one point I thought Snails was a collaborative work of fiction.

Thar she blows! Yep, that be the thread. :D

You don't have to be left out NCC, all are welcome to visit with snails. Some have come and gone, some have unintentionally stumbled in and stayed. lol I unfortunately don't have the witherall to hang out much, so I pop on the boards and answer what questions I can and am then gone again. I really must restock on witherall soon.

Mmm... a collaborative work of fiction based upon the strangeness of forum life led by those of us with a touch of insanity. :)

Hey Zen don't frogs eat snails??????

why yes, they do. I just had several hundred snails mysteriously appear/hatch in one of my frog tanks.. they made short work of them whiles their little shells were still soft :) sad really, they were rather cute! Finally, the mystery unravels about the snails. I must say it has been a rather tough mystery to solve and this is not my first attempt. Don’t laugh but about 4 months ago a veteran member made a comment about raising snails and I totally believed it! I thought to myself...here is another human -who loves the unlovable... the slimy creatures that most people would not have as a pet. Sadly, she was joking and did not raise snails. It’s a shame... I would love a giant african land snail (although I think they are illegal). It seems that I have been the creator of many a snail and didn’t even know it... It feels good to contribute ;)
