(Sorry for the double post)

I went ahead and tried it on one of my attys that was producing very little (almost no) vapor. It makes alot more but still not huge clouds. I have three more to try.

After removing the bridge I think that's the coil I see, but I'm not sure. It's covered in a hard black resin sort of looking stuff, maybe it's carmalized sugar? Should I scrape it off for better preformance or would it be fine to leave it there if it's working okay?

Yes, that's the coil you see.

If you can scrape off that resin then the thing would be almost like new. And if I'm not mistaken, some people in this thread even seem to be saying they removed the wick from inside the coil.

awsome i just did this on my cold dead 901 atty.

wiggle the bridge till it goes soft with tweeezers then pull it out when its broken. then pull out that metal bracket, then fiddle around with the coil, pushing it gently to the ends where it looks like its broken or not joined.

keep trying it as you go so you know when youve fixed it.

they should make replacement coils so u just replace the coil when it blows.

GUYS! I just took this method a step further and resurrected COMPLETELY COLD ATTYS! Great find frostmonkey!!!! Instead of scraping the coils, when an atty is COLD just restretch where it broke apart, make sure it touches both sides of coil then mash it back down in there and VOILA!!!! A completely DEAD atty WORKING again! Take it a step further and be very careful w mesh/bridge and u can carefully replce everything but the fiberglass and have like new attys again! :)

Could you provide a more details on how to do this. I got the jest of it but still now quite sure how to do this. Most of my atomizers are completely dead and I tried the other method and it didn't work.

Just wanted to let you know this is one of the best mods tips I have seen in while. I went through my graveyard of atoms and resurrected about 3 so far and have been using them exclusively for about 3 months and have not had to make a new purchase of atoms yet. Not only does this mod bring dead atoms from the dead but so far has made them immortal! Big money saver here. This should be a sticky.

I hadn't seen Highping's method but experimented with a bunch of oldies. Although removing the bridge and/or scrapping helped in a couple instances, I destroyed more this way than completely resurrecting. During my experiments, I discovered that for me, a simple dry burn until the glow returned was the best resurrection method. After looking at Highping's thread, I take that as independent confirmation. Besides, I just found 510 & 901 atty's at valuevapor.com for $4.99 and for that price, I'm just not going to sweat a atty that won't dry burn it's way back to working.

I'd like to see a poll of how many people tried this and forgot about it once they found the Highping dry burn method, which seems to be the end of the story when it comes to cleaning/resurrecting atomizers.

Count one. Since i found Highping's tips i have a real easy life: KISS methods always work.

I think i used this method once (still have that atty)...but with HP cart mod and atty resurrection/cleaning tips i forgot how to drip and mess with atties.:vapor:

I tried this on a few attys a while back. I found that by removing the bridge it loosened up the mesh wrap around the pot and caused too much airflow. Since I drip I always remove the wick. I believe it is enough to do just that. The bridge helps protect the coil from a direct hit of eliquid. Continually tempering the hot coil can't be good for it. Without the wick you are technically doing a slight dry burn just before needing to drip again.
