On Dec. 10... my TW 510 mega kit arrived (3 mega batts, 3 atty's)... tried the straw mod, DUH!!! I broke a new atty before I even used it!!! Actually, I MANGLED the thing!
I stored it away til I could figure out what to do with it.
2 weeks ago...When I read this thread I gave it a try.
This is my favorite atty on my pass thru, it is my buddy, I am in love with the strong throat hit and calmness that I get (like the first ciggy in the morning).
I named him Fred, when Fred dies I will make me another one just like him, I will use a new atty if I have to... I love my Fred!!!

Haha, love the name. =D

I just did this with a reasonably new atty that I didn't like - too much burny flavour, not enough vapour and MAN OH MAN. I am happy happy. =) What a great mod, and really easy! I just went slow and gentle and it all popped out as advertised. This is definitely my favourite atty now.

Ya know, some people do this to ALL their atties. It's called direct coil dripping, and it has a lot of advantages.

A. Atties are less likely to die from "heat death" from excessive gunk and poor airflow.

B. It tastes better, since the juice doesn't drip off the bridge - it just goes right onto the coil.

C. It wastes less juice. An intact 510 atty required 4-8 drops to prime it after cleaning. A bridge-less 510 only requires 2-3 drops to prime.

It's great. :) If you're a dripper, you have to try it at some point. If you use carts, don't - it won't work with carts anymore once you remove the bridge.

I wish I had found this thread before I smashed my Ego Tank atties...dang it. They had good innards...I got tired of constantly trying to get the tank system to function consistently. Put em in the trusty vice and sqooshed em so I would waste any more time on it. I knew what was inside, boat loads of mesh, nasty wick system that wasn't up to the job. But they dripped decent, man they would have been nice.

I kinda fast forwarded through this thread. The reason the coil can be jammed back to together, it kinda welds itself when the ends hit, if they are clean enough they'll stick together pretty nice. Same thing as tapping on a car headlight, the old days of ...

Well I musta done something wrong. My first attempt was a disaster, so this time I was very careful. Pulled all the stuff out even got the wick out without messing things up. But when I put in a drip, where does it go? I dunno cause it's not there when I go for a puff. Try again, a little more, sounds flooded...then nothing, look at the coil, looks great, ohm checks out. Hmmm...try again, one little itty bitty puff of vape then nothin...I almost forgot I took a lil bit of filler and tucked underneath and it would work but I don't want to do that, burning filler, nah not good.

I don't get it.

Thanks anyway though.

I did this last night to an old 510 atty that hasn't tasted right in months while I was waiting for my new attys to dry (they had gone weird too, after about a week of use). I cleaned it out and did a quick dry burn on my Riva 510, and the old crackle came back. I'm using it to drip coffee liquid so I don't gunk the others up. I wish I hadn't thrown out the other one that was doing the same thing. This atty was one of the original ones I got when I started vaping six months ago!
