From 1 day to 1 month. That's the problem. There is no consistancy at all. My best 510 atomizer is the second one I used. The first, third, and forth have all died, or stopped a good amount of vape/throathit. So in reality, is seems like each atomizer is going to cost around $35. I think you're best offbuying a 5 pack in hopes of getting one that will work well, and writing off the rest. Otherwise your going to loose even more money in return shipping, not to mention wasted time.
When you get one that works, it's an amazing vape, but it is not a reliable device.
Best,
Gary

only had mine for 3 weeks, but knock on wood been using the same 4 atties with no problem.

i think it's all in how you take care of them. i blow them out every night b4 bed and sometimes throughout the day if i change flavors.

mine are still producing tons of vape, couldnt be happier with them or my joye510

oh yeah and i vape all day long i was a heavy analog smoker

If been at this for allmost 2 months. Only lost 1 atty. I tried to clean the bad taste of JC juice out of it with alchohol- mistake that killed it.

I don't clean them.
I do 3 or 4 / 5-6 second dry burns once a week
I only use 1 flavor in 1 Atty
I don't use original cart filler- I use PTB
I agree here....I have been using the same atomizer for 3 months now....I truly think the burn-off method does as much for cleaning purposes as any other method will....have done nothing with this particular one other than blowing it out on occassion!! Tough little nuts they are!!!:)The Wiz!

I'm thinking of getting a Joye 510,hear there attys run hotter than normal. What are heavy smokers seeing for lifespan??

I've had really good luck with the 510's. Yes, the do get hotter than say a 901, but really never been an issue for me. It's often a sign that you need to clean your atomizer or put the e-cig down every once in a while. At least with cigarettes you realized how expensive they were and said, "I can wait a little while longer." There's nothing that will ever beat the "new atomizer" experience, so I tend to replace my atomizer about once a month whether they need it or not. I'll usually rotate the older ones to my USB passthrough for when I'm surfing and vaping. Or they go in the "emergency" pile. Somehow the USB seems to bring new life to them. Don't know if it's because I vape more or the power supply is more constant. Go figure?

I think the only atomizers I've "lost" were from experimenting. =) You should prepare for an atomizer lasting about 2 weeks, but expect it to last about a month when well cared for. I try to be economical by only placing an order once a month. So, I make sure to start off each month with two fresh atomizers. I just received 2 in the mail Saturday, but the ones I've got are still going strong. If they're still that way next month I'll only order one new atomizer or maybe treat myself to something else (there's a copper 510 set that looks interesting).

I finally lost my first 510 battery, but I've had a back up for about a month and a half and just got a second back up this week. Expect the best, but plan for the worst.

Back to the original topic, I have 8 atomizers in service right now. The 2 oldest atomizers were purchased on 03-29-09. The newest atomizers have been in service for about a month. I have 2 atomizers that are officially dead. I have 2 atomizers that only put out about 50% of the original vapor production (meaning they are clogged up). The remaining 4 in service are rotated daily using 2 in any one day.

Soaking the atomizers in alcohol will clean them mostly but all atomizers will reach a point where the gunk on the coil is too tough to clean. I think that having only 2 dead atomizers in 5 months of use is very good.

my first 2 attys still work at their best since june and meanwhile I keep rotating with about 5 (daily change). I'm a heavy vapor. I can really tell that in my "vaping career" (9 months now!) my ohter PV's styles (pen, pipe, 901 etc.etc.) never kept mor than a few weeks max. Since 2 months I've been using 510 only. Cleaning: same procedure as "ramblingrose" posted above. (sorry for my bad english)

I started off doing the following when I started vaping back in April:
Cleaning weekly with overnight alcohol soak
Blowing atty out before bed
Rotating between two atomizers

That lasted about a month. I keep using the same one until it no longer performs and replace it. No fuss, no muss . I haven't had any short lived atty's yet and if I get a month out of one I feel like I got my moneys worth. Batteries are another story, these I haven't fared as well with. Lots of duds. But so far I'm very pleased with the new mega batts, these are a big improvement.

I've been rotating two 510 attys for three months. They're both still good, and so far testing shows no increase in resistance at all.

The only maintenance I do is blow them out and stand them on their heads for a little while before I go to bed.
Same here, but my two are now going on four months. Still using and topping off carts with a couple drips on one of them and the other one I messed up taking out the wicking, it works great for dripping and tasting new flavors. I don't feel the need to change atty's using a new flavor, I just vape until it tastes crappy, then drip a couple drops of the new flavor onto the atty, add the new cart and I'm pretty much ready to go. Sometimes it takes doing this a couple times to get the old flavor off completely. And I realize after getting some crappy menthol that menthol is very hard to get rid of. I used that dry burning method a few times and suffered with the pepperminty flavor for awhile, but eventually it went away. Just kept dripping good juice on it between burns. I have a hard enough time remembering what flavor is in the cart let alone trying to remember what atty I used for what flavor.:D:)
