The eGo battery is totally 510 compatible (so you could use all your existing parts - except the charger) and lasts for a long time. So is the Riva510 battery. What you want to pay attention to with batteries: every battery has a "mah" rating; every 100 "mah" is equal to ROUGHLY an hour of vaping.

510 is 180 mah (about close to 2 hours)
eGo is 650 mah (about 6 1/2 hours)
Riva is 750 mah

... you can even get eGo's and Riva's that are 1300 mah!

Go to E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings

And, order the Riva 510 Lite Bundle. It's $29.95 after the 20% discount (click the 20% off icon at top left of page). You get 2 atomizers, 2 750mah Riva (Ego type) batteries, a cone and a charger. The batteries will fit your current 510 atomizers as well. The new ones are completely compatible with your old ones.

If you order just two batteries and a charger, you will spend almost as much money. The batteries in the kit will last 5-6 hours on a charge. Just remember to use the right charger with the right batteries. The Riva charger will burn up standard 510 batts. Mark them so you can tell them apart.

TIP: I now use a DSE charger on my Riva batteries, the .4amp charger was killing them one by one and the slower DSE (.2amp) takes a bit longer but no burnouts yet!

One of my .4amp chargers (which btw is the standard correct charger) actually melted which 'charging' a battery and may have caught fire if I hadnt noticed the smell, I'm eternally grateful it happened to me and not wifey as she usually charges overnight while she sleeps.

Ps I put 'charging' in inverted commas because it didnt charge it, it fried it, maybe the battery killed the charger, either way they both died together. The battey was red hot and might have exploded. Use a DSE slow charger!

I have the same problem with my KR808D-1. I love the smaller form factor, but the battery life blows. I go through 3 180mAh batteries a day adhering to the charging recommendations (draining it completely, charging it fully, etc.)

I went with the Riva 510 SE after several days of research and the recommendations of some people from this forum. The battery is 750mAH, so it'll last 3 times longer than the PV I'm currently utilizing. It's bigger though but the trade off to me is worth it.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Cheers!

The charging recommendations that you got are incorrect.

How to Prolong Lithium-based Batteries – Battery University
Similar to a mechanical device that wears out faster with heavy use, so also does the depth of discharge (DoD) determine the cycle count. The smaller the depth of discharge, the longer the battery will last. If at all possible, avoid frequent full discharges and charge more often between uses. If full discharges cannot be avoided, try utilizing a larger battery. Partial discharge on Li-ion is fine; there is no memory and the battery does not need periodic full discharge cycles other than to calibrate the fuel gauge on a smart battery.

Both my Ego charger and my Riva charger say 500ma output. I use them interchangeably to charge either the EGO or the Riva batteries. My understanding is that Li-on batteries charge to 3.92v and the Riva discharges directly under load at 3.7v. The Ego battery uses a MOSFET device that pulses the output to create a virtual 3.2v due to the pulsed nature of the voltage delivery system.

At any rate, they are supposed to stop charging at 3.92v. The charger circuit may have continued to charge after it should have cut off in your case. I have heard of this happening and they will pop at some point if the cutoff doesn't happen. I try not to leave my chargers plugged in at night or when I leave the house.

OTOH, I charge my cell phone's Li-on battery all night long some nights. If I don't do that occasionally, it runs down before the day is over when I just charge to the green light stage.
