Hey Jay..........................I have another question. This is out of curiosity, nothing more. There are NO problems with my GLV2 5v (the beast).

IF the resistor was to fail, and again, I say IF. What would happen? Would the current just stop and the GLV stops working? Or would it convert itself automatically to 6v?

And any idea on how long the resistor will last?

I dont know how to post a link, but heres where I saw these batts
DinoDirect
16340 1000mah 3.6v
4 for $10.34

I hope it helps, let me know what you think.

Thanks Keys, to post a link you just copy & paste from the address bar of your browser. Here is the link to that batt: 16340 Li-ion Battery 1000mAh 3.6V 4 Pcs - DinoDirect.com At least I assume this is the one you refer to. It says "Free ship worldwide" so the price certainly is extremely good. However, I do not know where they are shipping from (guessing China - if so, could take a week to several weeks).

I am not a battery expert and have not before come across "IR" batts. So I do not know how these compare to the IMR or the Lithium Ion versions I posted. I will forward the link to someone who KNOWS and ask his opinion. This person is, by far, the most knowledgeable person I have come across in my vaping research (especially in the area of electronics). What I can say is that He strongly recommends the IMR - even over the Lion. He also has strongly recommended I stick with AW batts. The only problem with the IMR (designed for "High Drain" - in the 16340 model - is they are lower mAh = 550 and therefore require more frequent charging. Of course, they cost more too.

Remember that you are "stacking" batts in an extremely high-drain use. Think of the rate of drain on batts in something like a flashlight vs a PV - the flashlight batts take months to drain compared to hours in a PV. Personally, under these circumstances, even tho everyone likes a "good buy", I tend to not squeeze the nickel when it comes to batts and chargers. I look for the best batteries and then look for best price for those batts. I will ask my friend and get back to you about these IR style batts.

FWIW, I also keep my batts paired using and charging them in their assigned "pairs". I mark them so I always know which two batts are paired to each other. This keeps the charge and drain levels equal in each pair.

Thanks, any info would be great.I dont know anything about batts.I just go by the #s they give us.I hope these will work.Ill keep them in pairs like you said.Hopefully I wont explode.

Still waiting to hear back but I can tell you that the number (like 16340) is for a "size", and often volts as well. But, I would not get these for vaping. I still do not know if they are "protected" (does not say protected) or for High Drain (also does not say "High Drain").

High Drain usually are not protected but have circuitry designed for high drain applications. I might use these in a camera but probably not for vaping. There are just somethings I won't risk. When I know that stacking batteries is inherently risky, and I am going to put them into a device I will hold up to my mouth... Well, let's just say I'd rather not end up in a hospital wishing I had spent and extra few dollars on batteries. :toast:

EDIT: might also add that the listing says "3.6 volts" and the batt clearly indicates 3.7 and "with such 16340 batteries you always have fresh AAA batteries for your electronics" - these are not AAA batts so i do not know why it says that.

I have some of these batteries and they are alright. I prefer the AWs.
The 1000 Mah I think is over rated on these dino batts, I do think they ship from China also.

I like the IMR although they are rated at 550 Mah I don't see a lot of difference is batt life as opposed to the others.

The AWs fit right into the tube of the GLV with no problem.

Price isn't a factor when I buy batts. I just want the best IMHO.

Go with IMR or reg li ions from AW and you wont go wrong.

I get mine most times from lighthound.com
Texas company. They ship fast and prices are good.

I was wondering if it could be resistored to 4.3, 4.4 volts....

yes I can just uses a different resistor.

it just wont work at all from my experience .

those batteries sometimes wont fit in a GLV ..its a crap shoot ....some do some don't. AW are the best fit. Just because the say 1000mAh does not mean that they are. I most cases its a big lie they use to sell batteries.

sorry I didnt get to this sooner. if you have not got those batteries, go for the AW, for safety and fit. They are a little more money , but well worth it.

A 4.5 resistor would be a great option Jay.

the 3.7v long body head is 4.3./4.4 on a full charge...close.

it would be great if you could use a 18650 batty but the tube is too small for it. The next best batty would be the 14500 in the long tube but havent tried that yet. It would need spacer. I will try it and let you know

It would be wonderful to be able to use the 18650 3000mah AW batt. Maybe in the GLV-3 WoW can't wait for that one to be off the drawing board. There should be room enough to make it usable for a lot of different batts.
Just pandering the idea.

I took the long tube with un-resistored head using 1- 14500 IMR high drain batty plus 2- batt spacers/

Working very nice. 4v/ for awhile until the batts drop in voltage.

I that tube was just slightly larger you could get a 18650 in it. And I mean ever so slightly larger.. lol

Actually it would have to be .075" bigger lol just getting a little technical on you.
