Well, I have a different take. Both my husband and I vape, and we vape indoors, which we never did with cigarettes. But some of the flavors my husband smokes really smell strong and not pleasant. Mostly he likes one with pineapple, vanilla, and graham cracker. I think it might be the graham cracker. Anyway, it does irritate me, and I'm pretty tolerant.

It does sound as though your coworker is being a drama queen though.

I'd go with the suggestion of using unflavored liquid. :)

I usually don't recommend this but it's apparent that this coworker is in need of an accident , a dropped banana peel at the top of a steep staircase has worked well for me in the past . I have had two coworkers silenced at my job due to taking an unfortunate "header" down a flight of stairs.

Just my opinion
Haha, unfortunately we are in a single floor building.

Perhaps keep handy the scientific study that shows second hand vaping has less volatile compounds than normal human breath. The coworker might not care about such info, but supervisors ought to.

If I were in a company that sought to curtail/eliminate indoor vaping, and wanted to play hardball, I'd be as gentle and reasonable as I could, up to a point. After that, anything anyone at any point introduces into the air, and I'd be seeking elimination as only resort given the way exhaled eLiquid vapor was treated.
My supervisors don't have any problem with it, at all. Just this coworker who makes a stink about it. (pun intended)

No one at work knows that I vape, but I do it inside anyway. I'm able to vape on the sly (when no one is around or in the bathroom). But I work at a very small company, so it might not be as easy for you to get away with it. :/

My best friend is pretty sensitive to vapor, I guess the flavorings. But I assume your coworker isn't like that because she's spraying Lysol and such in the air. If that doesn't bother her, the vapor shouldn't. And it only really bothers my friend if she's in the same room with me and my husband and we're both chain vaping.
Hi, I hate to go off topic but couldn't help but notice your cute dog. It has very similar features to mine. We rescued our dog and have no idea what breed he is? He's obviously a mixed breed but is very unique looking. Do you happen to know what breed your dog is? Also, does your dog have short legs and a long body? We think he's Australian shepherd with dachshund or corgey maybe?

That's my Pepper. We believe he's a mix of German or Australian Shepherd and Chow. He's about the size and shape of a Shepherd, but fluffy like a Chow. And black spots on his tongue!

" She immediately starts spraying perfume or lysol like she's trying to cover up the smell of death in the office. "

THAT is a problem
Indeed you should start complaining about her excessive usage of artificial & nasty "sudden odor" masking chemicals. If you are in California you can site Prop 65 & complain to CalOsha also. They will investigate & fine/shut down/arrest the principals for allowing such transgressions.

Hi,
I guess I am lucky I am able to vape at my desk. I have only had one person that will not come into my office. He is an x smoker go figure. My owner said now I spend a lot more time at my desk making them money. If fact my boss is a very heavy smoker. I have tried for 4 years to get him to stop vaping. All ways remember there will always be someone that can't stand that you are happy.

Unfortunately, there are people in this world who's sole purpose is to be the biggest pain in the ___ to as many people as humanly possible........and they seem to succeed.

Before I retired, a young "lady" walked past my office door three times over a 10 day period during the interview process. She was hired and started working across the hall and two doors down from my office with me being the only smoker on that wing. By the third day, she loudly proclaimed "had I known they allowed smoking, I would not have taken the job!" Seems to me if it was bad enough for her to even notice from her office, she would have noticed walking right by my door. And if she didn't notice when walking by my door, quit your bitc........! But sure enough, smoking was banned shortly after that.

Absolutely NOTHING you can do... right now. Just give it up. Lowest common denominator and all that. Right now, the boss probably sees the situation as YOU being a potential liability in HER lawsuit as to why she has come down with something, or cannot have her right to a harm free work environment, whatever.

Just. Stop. She has won. You are doing something unconventional, and as yet undefined in terms of workplace conditions.

Think COLD dishes... and areas of personal workspaces that the janitorial people don't hit. Fabric finished dividers? Seat cushions? HAlllo....

Unless you can figure out how to get this into a lysol can, and pull the ole switcheroo?

Me and some other guys vape on our shop floor. I'll sometimes mention to the younger ones to not do clouds. We don't want to lose the priviledge. Another issue that's arising is the scent. Some liquids have more than others. I'm mixing at home now. What I vape at work isn't unflavored but close. I'm using just 1% flavoring for my liquid at work, enough to get some flavor but the scent is subtle and several non vaing coworkers have mentioned that. So you don't have to go unflavored but try a mix with the bare minimum. I also keep the power down. 420 degrees, 30 max watts in temp control mode.

50 watts seems absurd for trying to use in an office, but a toot every 30 minutes still wouldn't be a lot....

If you could find a way to fool her into smelling a vape flavor when you're NOT, so she freaks out as usual, it might embarass her into giving it up.

While secondhand smoke or vapor isn't necessarily dangerous, I definitely found SHS very irritating and often sickening when I was a non-smoker. I also strongly disliked living with someone heavily into vanilla air freshener, to the extent you smelled it all the time. Her overacting doesn't allow you to actually guage her true level of irritation, however.
