It's really not messy as long as you can hit the hole (that's what she said). I have to say though, I don't drip through the drip tip; I take it off between drips. A little hassle, yes, but not too bad. It's kind of nice as a "think about something else" thing. (Sorry, I'm not feeling very eloquent today...)
I don't know. Dripping seems like going backwards. It's like " Honey, I didn't like the stuff in the fuel filter, so I put some strings in then didn't like those so I just took it and the fuel pump out and now we just have to squeeze this bottle occasionally to keep it going.
I personally like carto tanks better. With that said, clearomizer tech has improved tremendously in the last 2 years. I consider both viable, with clearo's easier to use. Cartos require more of a learning curve. The defect rate I am observing with both are comparable.

NO! Bad r77r7r!! *whaps with rolled-up newspaper* (Joking, of course.) Dripping has its benefits too. Now, I'm not a dripper. I do it occasionally, but not often. However, once you get a new package in the mail, and it has 5 or 10 or god forbid 100 tiny sample bottles in it, then the atty is your friend. It's also good for when you don't want a particular juice - you just want a bunch of different stuff.
