during our first week of esmoking i experienced sore throat, headaches, and a tight/heavy feeling in my throat and chest. my hubby experienced pains in his legs and a sore throat.

after adjusting our nic content, reeling in the over-vaping, drinking more water, and adjusting to the new way of smoking all symtoms are completely gone (and we're over 3 wks w/o analogs so far!!)

Here's mine:

1. ........ - when I used the Best E-Cig juice. The rest are OK.
2. I fart like every 5 mins when using it. Well, maybe because we need to puff harder resulting to massive air intake.
3. Recently, my blood pressure rise up. And Im monitoring it right now. I do some research that a pure nicotine can really cause this.
4. Sore throat in my first few days of using it.

I have had a stuffed up head for a week or more.

It's on and off, and, no doubt, much of it has to do with the outrageous amount of pine pollen that's been in the air lately.

I just want to know what it'll be like as things progress.

I can't stand having a stuffy head, but, considering the time of year, I really haven't been able to tell what can be attributed to quitting analogs, e-cigs or seasonal allergies.

Well I have been on the E cig for almost 3 weeks now.
First thing was the sense of smell returning within a day or two. With that was taste.Man food tastes good!
The first few days I got the feeling that I wasnt getting enough nicotine OR I was getting too much.Hard to describe.
I solved it by taking 3 drags off a analog 4 days into quitting. The feeling went away instantly. So I was getting LESS nicotine than I was used to (pack a day Ultra Lights).
But I adjusted rapidly from that and by day 5 or so felt fine.
No sore throats. No sleeping problems (actually tired out earlier at first), and no coughing. In fact my little "cough" that would hit me SEVERAL times during the day disappeared. Little concerned about that.Almost 20 years smoking I should be hacking up SOMTHING by now right???
2 weeks in i tried another little experiment.Bummed and smoked two analogs on a Saturday night. Tasted a little strange but not horrible.
But man,I still tasted them the next day and my chest was tight like it gets when you smoke too much!
Now at the almost 3 week mark im doing fine.
My biggest gripe with the E cig is getting some juice in your mouth.Tastes awful and you get that mild nicotine OD feeling. But im getting better at cart filling!
Im am very pleased with these things.Nothing else ive tried over the years has come CLOSE to getting me off analogs and these babies come along.

Today is day 2 for me. I have experienced no sore throat yet. I did have very vivid dreams last night. I actually remember my dream. I can't remember anytime in the past that I could actualy remember my dream from the night before. I find this strange. Also, my legs are a little sore. Other than those side effects all is well on Day 2.

Im going through 2 1/2 carts a days filled with totaly wicked 18mg e juice im not even inhailing it as much maybe inhail one puff every hour and just make smoke the rest of the time....

I had similar type dreams for a few days after switching from analogs to ecigs.

Been to the doctors and they are aware of e cigs and a lot of my symptoms are due to the e cig apparently Propylene glycol is used in anti freeze and fridge coolant and like the doctor said its not intended for human inhelation and e cigs havent been regulated because they are in the gray area of safety and studies are still going on and if they were that good and healthy Niquitin would of jumped on the band wagon as they have the funds to properly test them.
The doctor has told me to stop useing the e cig as im showing signs of dehidration even though im drinking a ltr of water an hour and showing signs of an elergic reaction to one of the components in the e juice most probably Propylene glycol as its classed as an irritant.
Dont slate me for this post im just informing you what the doctor said as ive been ill and wasnt getting any joy from diffrent forums.
Im now on patches and inhelator that the doctor has given me for free and apparently anyone can get them for free in the uk so its got to be better than paing for e juice and the e cig. another thing the doctor said was its been known for people to make there nicotine addiction worse with e cigs as its not clear how much nicotine is being absorbed into the body and there is no guide lines from the makers of luiquids or the e cigs on how much should be used.

To sum it up after speaking to the doctor e cigs are not a way to give up smoking but rather to replace it with a healthier alternative but its not healthier with Propylene glycol as it can cause kidney problems as well as being an irritant on the lungs, throat, mouth my bleeding gums are due to smoking e cigs and i wish i never messed with them they have made me really ill.

I suspect you're not the only one having bad experience with vaping XR. We don't have any guidelines on nicotine safety and vaping hasn't been clinically tested.

Propylene glycol is not the ingredient in ordinary anti-freeze, thats ethylene glycol I think and that is toxic. Propylene glycol is the stuff used in theatrical fog machines and has been found to produce germ killing vapour. It can cause respiratory and eye irritation and some people are allergic, it sounds like you are one. Glycerine can be used as an alternative to propylene glycol.

I'm surprised we haven't heard more stories like yours here but we tend to hear mostly from enthusiasts who think this is the best thing since sliced bread.

If your choice is smoking or vaping with glycerine based eliquid then I know what I'd try. Tests or not, we know smoking is really bad, vaping might just cause short term allergies.

I hope you recover quickly, take care.

The doc knew what he was talking about he mentioned it was a component of anti freeze, hydrolic fluid, fridge coolant and he said you really want to inhail that. It was close for me to be admited to hospital of dehdration even though im drinking loads.
Im comming to the conclution that e cigs are not a healthier alternative just an alternative to smokeing but healthier i doubt it as like the doc said if they was that good an idea and have aready sold milions world wide then a company like niquitin would of taken them on and done trials on them and mass marketed them as they have been around a few years now but still nobody has done trials to endorse them.....It doesnt make sence if they are that good and healthier a larger company would of adopted them but saying that the amount that has been sold smaler companies would of been able to do the trials them selfs just think about it your first e cig and juice is £50 + and they sell them by the bucket loads...it doesnt make sence

I am not sure where your doctor gets all his information from.....I don't think e-cigarettes have really been around for long to have any proof of people's nicotine addiction being made worse by vaping. ....but anyway bad luck on having all those problems with it..... I suppose it's like some people can smoke tobacco all their lives with no harmful effects ....we are all different and there is no telling how anything will effect us.

Propylene glycol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The politics of vaping are a bit confusing. Tests have been carried out by Ruyan on their (propylene glycol) formula which have found them to be better than smoking - http://www.healthnz.co.nz/RuyanCartridgeReport30-Oct-08.pdf

There are some other toxicology reports around.

Big companies will probably become interested when they get a higher profile, vaping has only been around a few years.

Did you doctor bother to tell you about glycerine or what you are doing to your body by smoking?

Have you considered that you might have an allergy to propylene glycol. Very few people have sensitivity reactions like the ones you claim.

I would rather take a word of a doctor who seemed clued up on e cigs than anybody else who isnt a doctor. All i say is if you have any problems even a sore throat go see your doctor i should of gone sooner. And i was useing it responsably to quit and the side effects were just too much. If in doubt ask a doctor and if you want to quit smoking again see the doctor he will give you patches and inhelator for free in the uk which have had trials done on them and that got to be better than paying ££££ for something that hasnt been trialed or that people dont know if its safe. is your life worth the risk really

No need to comment on your symptoms, as I'm sure you stated your experience truthfully. But this is a major concern -- and regulatory agencies are going to require that all "side effects" be printed with each device or liquid .. provided any agency approves them (so far, in all the world, not one government agency has approved them).

Sorry you had a bad time, XR. As Kate suggested, perhaps vegetable glycerine-based liquid would be better for you. But I hardly blame you if you stay far away from e-smoking from now on.

Personally I am unable to give up smoking tobacco with any of the 'free' stuff a doctor can give me so if I was getting any bad side effects from vaping I would just have to carry on smoking tobacco....luckily for me the only side effects I am getting from vaping are 'good' ones.
