I have been vaping for 8 days now and I have had some side effects from vaping that I really don't like. I have developed insomnia, achy joints, a cough while vaping and feel more anxious than while smoking analogs. I am still smoking about 6 analogs a day, down from 2 packs (40) a day so that is a dramatic improvement. There have been several times that I have thought seriously about giving it up due to these side effects. I don't know what is causing it but I think I will try some VG juice and see if they get any better before I make a decision. I really like that I don't smell and that I have more energy but the sleeplessness is catching up with me and starting to make me feel bad. I appreciate that some of these issues have been covered in this forum. It has helped me understand better the effects of quitting analogs. I hope that I get these issues resolved. Please keep posting info on different juices and their effects. Thanks!

It sounds like you may be experiencing nicotine withdrawal to some degree. The coughing when vaping is something that some vapers have for a few days but then it goes away. (I never had it.)

Maybe switching to VG would help - or a mixture with some VG.

Yeah... like how I almost vomited when I tried the coconut flavor from totally wicked... ;)

lmao, ya i almost puked on pineapple 36mg (company i bought it from doesnt matter)

dreamgazer: i have had some of the same symptoms as you..... heres what i think, your have more energy/not sleepy:= a huge drop in toxic chemicals in your system hence more energy/not sleepy. it will pass after while. the anxious resless feeling: i had it to when i went cold turkey from analogs, couldnt sit down, very figity...ect day 7 went back to analogs lol. had to be lack of nicotine = you may need to up your nicotine level.

since i started to vape: 3 weeks in
THE BAD
1. soar throat-mostly in the morning when waking up. will take note about water drinking
2. just past day or so notice some pimples WTF lol usually i have none on my face. but just a few not like a outbreak.
3.sensitive tongue, maybe a few tongue blisters or whatever, prolly from the juice.... this is the one that bugs me lol.

i havent had any cough from the start or now :( is this bad? is that damn tar still in my lungs? damn it come out!!!!! smoked 12 yrs total, 2 packs a day for about 3 yrs

THE GOOD
1. dont smell like smoke.
2. smell things better or for the worse = changing baby diapers really sux now :(
3.taste food a lil better so far seems to be getting better each day.
4. can take deeper breathes
5. dont have a wheeez or weird noise when i lay down at night and breath when going to bed anymore.
6. first week or two... had a boost of energy to where sleeping was a discomfort.... wake up noon wouldnt go to bed until 4-6 am the next day, has since balanced out. and now just enjoy having more energy with a good sleep schedual.

i think alot of us including me, will nitpick at the slightest thing now, because we are trying something new... we will blame anything on the vaping. its like when you take your car in for repair, then when you get your car back you notice a scratch and blame the dealership, just because you didnt notice it before. or how you never see a red chevy truck, until you buy one... then they are everywhere lol. <--- (only things i could thing of ) all im saying is before you blame vaping for whatever your symptom(s) sit down and think of what else could cause it ect...

Well 2 days smoke free with my E-cig. I have noticed clearer breathing. I can breathe deeper. I can hold my breath for a minute without lips, eyes and face tingling after 30 seconds. It doesn't hurt anymore when I breath, move or lay down. My throat and voice box no longer hurts and throbs. I am on HRT and have noticed increased sex drive from the e-cig. Also felt a funny feeling like a ghost touched me right in the center of my forehead. I'm guessing thats my nicotine being satisfied. It made me giggle a lot. I can breath a lot easier through my nose. Had dry throat and mouth easily remidied with more fluid intake. I seem to be more sleepy than usual. Day 2 not sure if it's from vaping to much but i felt like i was breathing really shallow and my brain was floating. Sort of panicy feeling and dizzy, slurred speach, sort of spaced out. Also noticed increased confidence.

I'm seeing symptoms that aren't even in my body! My boyfriend is still a smoker because when the craving hits he'll be used to those dang analogs - kind of a why start what won't be finished attitude. HE STINKS! Of course, but in the absence of my second hand smoke HE snores less, looks over at the pack and decides to light one less, has more energy, sleeps deeper, has a better apetite, better mood; and the dog has more kisses for me. As for myself, I believe that my mouth and skin aren't as dry, and nothing compares to that one deep succulent full breath I used to almost be able to take and am now completely relaxed by. I may be having a few more little itches here and there, and only once - a minor case of anorgasmia. I am hoping that this mostly positive status remains after I seek out a vg juice because I don't do milk.

I have several autoimmune diseases! Definitely should have quit smoking years ago - but couldn't! Have the ........ problem ALWAYS due to having half intestines and gall bladder removed due to these diseases! Seemed to be a little worse when switching to the e-cigs (could just be me or could be the e-cigs, not sure - maybe I should try the VG) but the Vapor King e-cig is the ONLY thing where I have been successful when quitting - and I have tried EVERYTHING-gum, patches, laser therapy, hypnosis, pills, and even a nicotine inhaler prescribed by doctor (called Nicotrol Inhaler). This is the ONLY thing that has worked for me!!! So, if it means a few more trips to the bathroom, so be it (since I have that problem anyway!) It took me about a week to get off the analog cigs completely, (Made the mistake years ago of switching to the lowest tar and nicotine analog cigarette which just caused me to become a chain smoker!) so if you don't get off immediately don't panic! Because I was used to the lowest nicotine, I ordered the lowest nicotine in the e-cig. I'm probably getting less nicotine now - which may have been the reason it took me a week to get off the analogs! It was suggested to me (in this forum) that I would like the flavors better than the tobacco flavors. Stupid me, figured I NEEDED that tobacco flavor. The people on this forum were right and know what they are talking about!! My recommendation to anyone starting - forget the tobacco flavors and go with a flavor you like - you will find that you will want your e-cig more than your analog cigs!!! Plus, if you are going to do it - don't buy the cheapest - go for the entire package with everything included (will save you money in the long run) plus, gives you that incentive (because you spent the money) to really give them a serious try - even if it takes you awhile to get off the analogs. I tried a disposable first - and it was disgusting! Love my Vapor King and the flavors!!!!! You converted another person Steve and Mark! The videos on your website really helped me a lot when all this stuff arrived and I looked at it in confusion! Keep up the good work!!!! Now, we just have to keep the government from taking them away from us!!! I have been on FDA approved drugs that have killed people - so when people say to me "they are not FDA approved" I just laugh and tell them my horror stories!!!

Thanks for the info on the side effects of vaping. I really want this to work so I am giving it my best effort. The achy joints have pretty much stopped. The coughing is some better. YEA! I am still smoking about 6 analogs a day. I upped to high mg with the BE(don't know the mg), but maybe I need to go higher. Sometimes I feel like I am getting nic and sometimes I don't. Kind of weird. Still having trouble sleeping. I don't want to go back to analogs and maybe that will keep me going thru this period of insomnia.

Nice work, Satire, and I'll take your compliment. As for tightness of chest .. every other previous attempt I made to quit cigarettes resulted in cravings and moments of what can only be called panic attacks. I'd realize I couldn't have my old friend, the cigarette, and I'd start to feel a tightness in my chest, shortness of breath, loss of vision and balance to the point of almost blacking out.

I became like those stereotypical cartoon characters that "pant" when they can't have something they want! I panted and came to the edge of passing out.

I'm doing better staying off with the e-cig. I have cigarette cravings all the time, but so far have avoided panic attacks by using the e-cig, snus, or pipe. Keeps the demons in check, you understand.
I have read this thread and have had a lot of the symptoms described. I have a congenital enlarged heart (cardiomyapathy), so analogs are NOT an option. I also got one symptom, a horribly sore throat, that would NOT go away. I haven't had an analog since August 10th, when I got my 1st ecigs and learned to deal with symptoms.

The sore throat was the worst, so I asked a doctor about it. He said everyone's system is different and will react differently than others. We both checked about the PG (it is a known irritant; but then so is VG in pure form) and while neither of us will say allergy, I probably really sensitive to PG. So I learned to make my own all VG ejuice (I no longer get the tight chest anymore). I followed my philosophy concerning computer repair-If I can follow a recipe, I can do this (got through an associates degree in Computer Tech that way). Some of the mixing formulas out there end up with a higher nicotine content than they think. I got the racing heart thing on the 1st few, but already knew what that was. I have gone from 32mg to <16 mgs in less than a month. No more symptoms.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you are not sure, check it out. I asked a doctor and got a lot of help. Some of the symptoms given are symptoms of other medical problems that have nothing to do with ecigs and that analogs cover up. If you're not sure, check it out.

I have been vaping for 5 weeks now. I actually started by buying a PV from a kiosk in the mall along with a bottle of medium apple flavored e-liquid. I used the PV I bought along with the liquid for about a week without any reactions. I wasn't very satisfied with PV I bought and decided to upgrade to the Joye 510 model.

I ordered a Joye 510 set from TW and some Reduced PG juice from JC. From reading the forums here, I thought VG sounded like a better base than PG so I ordered the reduced PG from JC. When I tried the JC liquid, it felt and looked like it was burning holes in my tongue.

After my reaction to the JC liquid, I wanted to find out if I have some sort of reaction to VG so I started vaping pure VG (no nic) thinned with distilled water. The VG I have been using is from Hobby Lobby (Wilton brand). With the plain VG liquid, I had no throat hit, a slight sweeet taste and tons of vapor. I also noticed that it felt like all moisture was being sucked from my tongue and it made my tongue extremely raw. When I looked at my tongue in the mirror it looked blistered and scorched. This is kind of the same reaction I had with the JC liquid. Straight VG also made my lungs hurt and gave me a slight wheeze.

This test is not conclusive since I really didn't wait for my tongue to heal, but it wasn't making it any better either. After this I switched back to the apple flavored e-liquid I bought and now my tongue is slowly healing.

I think I may have some sort of reaction to vaped VG or maybe to the brand of VG. I would be curious to try the NOW foods brand of VG after my mouth heals just to see where my problem is.

I have read a lot of threads on this forum and I see people talking about reactions to PG, but I have yet to come across anyone with reactions to VG. Are they any other people that have had any simular reactions?
Check the chemical properties of VG. As I remember, straight VG can cause blistering but adding water makes it an emollient. I get a severe reaction to PG so I mix my own VG juice. Instead of using water (although you can use distilled water), I use a few drops of grain alcohol (Everclear, high proof vodka or liquor; adds nice flavor like pipe or cigar tobacco). It also helps keep attys cleaner. That solved problem for me.

I vaped for 4 days had a prob with my e-juice (my own blunder from making my mix to thick) had to clean my atomizers so i smoked Marlboro Ultra Light 72's for 1 day. That day and the next I had serious nosebleeds! I mean it would not stop! I was bleeding everywhere! I got my atty's cleaned and so far 6 days on e-cigs! My nose quit bleeding but I'm now having a lot of chest pains and upper lung pains from the Marlboros. Feels like a dang donkey kicked me in my left lung! Funny thing about analog cigs is that it's eating you up inside and you don't feel a thing until you quit! It's WAY easier this time around with my E-cigs! F**K the government or anyone else who tells me I have to smoke analogs and die! F**K THAT! E-cigs for me hun! I have had absolutely no analog cravings since day 2 of vaping! Someone previously mentioned wondering what President Oboma's feelings are on the E-cig? He seems to just step aside and not get involved...in other words let the others do the dirty work so he is blameless! What happened to his spirit of American innovation speeches? President we were taxed on analogs, taxed again, taxed a third time and if that wasn't enough they added plastic to our ciggarettes in the State of Arkansas! GET INVOLVED!

Glad this thread was here, been reading through it for the last hour and Ive definately got a few of these.

My list

Slight sinus area headache
Feel hot frequently, kinda flushed, warm in the face
congestion
constipation
tiredness

Been vaping for about a week, symptoms appeared a couple of days later. None of them are terrible really, all less than 3-4 on the 1-10 severity scale, really just kinda feels like Im getting a cold.

Do these sound like PG reactions or nicotine too much/too little reactions? I had quit smoking a couple times before, and didnt experience these problems, infact it was almost opposite across the board.

Good news is - i really have no desire for tobacco anymore. My finger nails arent yellow anymore, my stuff doesnt stink, my car isnt covered in ash, and when i tried to smoke a real cigerette the other day, I couldnt make it through 2 puffs. It tasted terrible.

yep i just registerd to chime in that , i have never ever in my life had a nose bleed , but after about 3 days in <been 2 weeks now i think since i started vapeing > ive had minor nose bleeds and bloody boogs , and some blood in spit , assume thats from sinus draineage , the first was useing vg , the more recent ones are pg , not pooring blood mind u but if blow nose , blood , spit , blood <coming from sinus im sure of it

this is with 18 mg liquid , i dont french inhale or anythign either , i doubt its due to the nicoteen , the liquid seems to be actauly drying out my sinus and nose , pg more so then the vg , but after a bit of vg i get this feeling like i just licked a candle

I wonder quality is the issue with my e-cigs, then. It's been two or three days and I've noticed even when I'm vaping for the first or second time of the day, it feels like I've been smoking a pack. Today I had a feeling in my chest like it was full of mucus. I could feel it every time I breathed. Maybe the crap in my lungs is just loosening up?

I'm also concerned about how much nicotine I'm getting. I'm sure I haven't smoked the equivalent of a pack. I use the e-cig 6-7 times a day and usually take 8-10 puffs each time. I've already gone through 3 cartridges, so I'm either doing this wrong, or my cartridges don't have enough liquid in them.

I might get a new e-cig. This model has no contact information in it, no company name - nothing. I can't find anything on the internet about it, either. That kind of makes me nervous.

Hi RA

Welcome To The Forum.. You'll notice that most of us are really helpful and fun, not forgetting

OK The muccus.. I did that.. It's your lungs clearing up.. Remember though that it's cold and flu season so if you do this for more than a week, it could be something else..

You really didn't smoke that much so that could also be the problem because you might not notice it, but you are probably vaping alot more than you smoked, so you're gonna feel a bit strung out and feeling like you've smoked that pack like you said/posted. ... This could also be the reason you are full of muccus...

I'm also wondering if you are actually getting too much nic (nicotine) with those carts (cartridges)... Check the box they come in and you will see the stregnth...

Sure, Get a new e-ciggie but don't blame the one you have on all this trouble.. I presonally think you are over-dosing on nic...

I took 3 months looking online (especially this forum) before I bought my first e-ciggie.. My first were 510's (I got a double set, plus extra attys (atomizers) and batterys.. I adore the 510, and am planning on trying out the automatic "Mega" batterys for it.. I also have a Janty Stick with a 510 adapter (I want my 510  ) which I love to bits...

I'll tell ya' something: If you get any, get a passthrough too.. Can't live without one of those.. You also would need to get the other do-dads to hook up for your car and to plug into the wall...

Anyway, I really think you need to lower your nic.. You didn't smoke analogs that much, and you are doing an imitation of "Puff The Magic Dragon" with your e-ciggie... Suprised you don't have a really bad headache from it....

After smoking conventional cigarettes for 25 years I coughed my head off for about 4 weeks. It got better. Now I just have a tiny cough to clear my passage ways due to the moisture content of the vapor. No big deal really.

One issue which will always be nicotine related is High Blood Pressure. However, it's not as high as it was when I smoked the cancer sticks.

I never had a sore throat, nor any of the other bad symptoms mentioned. Some of them sound like diabetic issues to me. Perhaps people may have other health problems they're not aware of.

On a good note... I feel more energetic, I can go for a walk without losing my breath, and I get "morning wood" (never thought I would see that again... LOL).

You coughed for 4 weeks?? Woa!! I was chain smoking since I was 14 (32 years) and didn't cough at all... I became a type 1 diabetic and started smoking immediately upon being diagnosed.. I was sooooooooo smart as a kid, but the rebel in me couldn't stop...
