We are a family of 7, with only my income. Not a luxurious life but we do okay. When I smoked it was 2 pad, usually between $10-12 a day, and i never really thought about the money. I have saved a ton since making the switch, but now I feel it has taken "hobby" status instead of "gotta have" the cigs had. I would spend about 70ish a week in smokes, but feel guilty spending money on additional attys, clearos, flavors, etc, even though I know it's much cheaper and better than the stinkies. Mentally for me, it's no different than saying I'm buying a new table saw this week even though I know I shouldn't. I'm not looking for justification, just venting and wondering if others have felt the same with their vaping.

I do to a certain degree. What has helped me is a spreadsheet. If you would like, PM your email address and I will email a sample with some data in it just to give you an idea of how it works. Just replace the data with yours. The formulas are already there. It really helps to keep the overspending in check with what you would have spent buying cigs and you can SEE how you are actually doing. I do know how you feel though.

I was saying kond of the same thing to my grilfriend and she told me:

- It could be much worse... You could be into cars!

Now that costs a lot of $$$

I think a lot of us understand how you feel! Vaping is now a hobby/nicotine addiction for me! Over time I've learned how to scale myself back but in the beginning I was out of control, especially when it came to juice & now I'm actually starting to save money. I use an app that shows me how much I've spent versus how much I would've spent on cigarettes every week. At first I didn't even want to do the math even though I'd saved all of my receipts up just for that purpose. I still get that...'do I really need that' feeling myself. You're not alone!!

I totally relate! I keep a simple Excel spreadsheet to track my purchases, order date, ship/receive dates, sales, etc. It helps keep my perspective on how I AM saving money. I have lots of neat (but simple!) stuff at this point and am really cutting back on spending. I find if I want to buy something, if I sleep on it I may be more reasonable in the morning.... or not....:sneaky:

IMHO, NEVER disregard where ya were and where ya are!

Keep in mind that ya probably never considered what ya were $pending fer da cigs while $moking. Now dat you're vaping, ummmm, can I 'cut back'?

Actually, once ya find your vaping niche and shed da 'latest & greatest' vaping gadget syndrome, chances are dat you'll be able to buy dat new table saw with ¢a$h!

I went a little crazy with juice for a while. Gotta find the perfect one! :vapor: I've gotten much better, only ordered 3 this week, and plan on only stocking up on my daily this coming week. And, I see all the cool mods and want . So far only got the eVic. And sitting here looking at 15 clearos (5 different kinds!) The spreadsheet and the app sounds like awesome ideas to track your spending.

If you weren't doing this you WOULD be smoking. So if you don't maintain your gear and resupply you will be smoking again.

Better to be spending the money on this than giving the government even more of your hard earned money in a sin tax and killing yourself in the process.

(I do know what you mean, though. Since I've come back to vaping I have spent more than I would have on cigs.....)

I'm finally petering out. One year. I had the opposite problem. It was " look at the money I'm saving" then it was " can't have too much back up" then it was " stock up" FDA is going to start messing and then it was " what if my income disappears" so stock up some more. I can finally relax and play a little catch up. It seems everyone will find their personal plateau as far as spending, owning and all that. It's a compulsion. I actually felt a little disappointment I don't need to scour the Internet for the next new thing but that changed too and just relaxing. If its a steal ill go for it

I was going to say this....I have a car addiction and always have because I am an automotive tech by trade....In the last 2 years I have owned 11 different vehicles, but I usually only keep three tagged and on the road. The others I buy, drive for a month or two, fix and sell. Its an addiction worse than vaping, trust me, things can be worse!

I just go by my ticker at the bottom. There is no way in heck that I've ordered over $6,000 in juice, Provari, Z Atty Pro and other accessories in my past 12 months. But I have bought 2 new guitars at about $1200 a piece. I think I know where my savings have gone and I like it! And the 3 year old got an iPad mini and a drum set. I share the wealth.

I feel the same way. My hubby is the one who works, and I always smoke 1 PAD. He smoked maybe a pack in 3 days, so my cost of smoking was much higher than his. Now we have both switched to vaping, and I am always looking for more juice or maybe even upgrading to VV/VW but I feel guilty doing this. I know we haven't spent as much on our vaping supplies as what we did cigarettes, but it still doesn't make a difference. The guilt is still there. I never felt guilty buying cigs though, so I don't know what gives! LOL Just know you aren't alone! :)
