Tried a cigalike and thought what crap, about a year later I woke with shortness of breath like some days. Talking to a friend online he told me how he quit smoking and started vaping. I ordered a nautilus mini and vision spinner v2 off ebay. I went to the small store the day I got it and got some crappy juice 2 15ml for 10$ 18 and 24mg. I filled the tank and demanded myself to quit smoking. Vaped all that day not 1cig, the next day I kinda had the itch for a cig took like 3hits off a menthol(hate menthol) and thought it tasted like crap as always, tasted my crap juice and thought it tasted better then that menthol, lol. I kept getting that itch but never smoked. About 2weeks into vaping I went to a real vape shop and tasted amazing flavors, bought 2 30ml bottles and a Istick 20w and never looked back at cigs. So in my experience it was possible in 1day. With the demand to quit smoking, and I was one of those people to start raging when I didn't smoke within 2hr's. My 2pack a day for 15years habit ended in 1 day!

I purchased an ego starter kit and never had another cigarette since.. Been over a year and don't even desire one. I smoked for over 30 years (a pack and half of Virginia Slim 120 menthol).

That's what I smoked. Those & thee Misty menthol 120's. We've come a long way, baby!

Got that right!!! I smoked the 120 Ultra-Lights ("silver pack") for about 20 yrs, and before that, the 120 Lights; haven't smoked menthol since I was about 16, but it's funny, at the time I switched to non-menthol (winstons), I had been smoking VS menthols. :D

I keep the keychain I've had for about 35 yrs because now it really is true. I've come so far I don't even need those stupid cigarettes anymore. :D

The day I started vaping my cigs went from 25 to 5 per day with no apparent effort. I decided to take some weeks to get acustomed to vaping before pushing to zero cigs. About six weeks later, with lots of confidence that I wouldn't stop vaping I let my cigs run out and never bought more. Zero cigs was much easier because I knew the worst that could happen is I'd relapse to 5 cigs instead of 25.

I gave up smoking because I was utterly _determined_ to do so. I guess that helps, and it was a real deep quit attempt, not like one of my lame ones where I said to myself "I guess I should quit". This one was a "I have quit dammit!". So my first setup, which was an eGo battery with a clearomiser with 18mg eliquid was enough. I quit smoking from my very first vape ever. That was just over two years ago, and I ain't smoked since.

When I bought my new kit at the beginning of this week, I didn't ever intend to completely give up, but I've smoked far fewer analogues than I expected (only half a one yesterday and one today).

As an "all or nothing" kind of person I'm now disappointed with myself whenever I have an analogue!

My question is, for those who have given up completely, how quickly did you manage to switch to just vaping? Am I trying to do too much too fast? Yesterday my mum said I shouldn't set myself up for a fall my trying to quit cigs too quickly!

I think association is going to be a problem. I'm vaping in the bedroom / office, but only smoke outside. The trigger for having the cigarette I just smoked was walking into the garden where I usually smoke. If I'd stayed upstairs I wouldn't have had it, but I can't stay shut in my vaping den forever! I suspect it's going to prove even harder when I go to the pub...

All tips appreciated.

I started with those stupid cartridge e-cigs back in the day and was like "this won't work" so I went back to cigs. I knew I wanted to quit so I tried again at a local B&M and got one of those EVOD setups and it took me about a month at 24mg of nic on a little protank 3. Now of course I'm a nerd and a total hobbyist and have way too many mods like the rest of the crew in here, but, honestly as a pack a day for 20 years smoker I never thought I would quit, but here I am off the stinkies and it's been about a year. First month I was at 24, then I stepped to 18 for a couple months, down to 12, and so on, I'm currently between 3 and 6 because well, flavors sometimes vary XD but I started by supplementing my cigs, then vaping in place of one or two a day then only when I had to, and then I let my pack run out and never bought another.

I bought one of the lil eGo blister packs and made the decision to never buy another pack of analogs. I had half a pack and only smoked 2 more that night at the bar. I kept them handy just in case, but had the will power to leave them alone. I did try to smoke one about 2 weeks later, though, just to see what it was like. Only took 2 drags before I threw it out. It tasted horrible!!!! I threw the rest out and haven't had one since. One year today and I don't even miss them! :thumb:

I've been vapeing a good while now. I'm at the point now we're analogs don't ever cross my mind. It wasn't always like that though. My trigger was stress! I would get overwhelmed and run back to the convince store where I picked up my two packs everyday before work. After making the switch I would find myself back there on bad days. Then I slowly realized, I don't want these. I would end up smoking one or two, and throw the pack away. But the key was, I didn't beat myself up about the slips! I got over it, and picked up my mod. Started again. In time, I made it. SO WILL YOU!
Stress is why I smoked at all. I have rheumatoid arthritis & guess what the trigger is. Getting a stem cell transplant for it next week that is supposed to "stop it in it's tracks". I'm a research guinea pig.

Took me 7 weeks or so before my last smoke. My own story is that when I first started vaping I quit for about a week, with surprisingly little "pain", but then relapsed. The second time I had a lot of pain. Just my personal story, others have different experiences. I wish I had put more effort into it the first time.

Maybe try to vape your head off when you go outside, or to a pub. Replace that association with vaping?

Will you continue to smoke because of the habit of having a stick in your hand?
Will you crave for the smoke smell when you vape?
I think this are the two concern i have...
I never had a problem with either of those. The mod in my hand keeps my hand occupied with the to the mouth & away motion, puffing, inhaling, exhaling are all taken care of, & the flavors quickly replace the taste of a cig. It's just so much better. Don't be surprised if you find tobacco flavors don't appeal to you taste wise. Just try something totally different. Like a bakery, or candy, or beverage flavor.

Try it. You'll like it! It won't be long before you'll wonder how you thought tobacco tasted good at all. Smell d tastebuds start to recover very quickly for most people.

If I count the two weeks I used BLU ecigs, then it took three weeks. But, I dont really count that as vaping, more like, "learning what vaping actually is"

Once I ordered my first setup, mod/tank/liquid etc, I gave up 99% as soon as I got it working and vaping. Took about a week to give up that first morning cigarette. And it was only after two days, that I HATED that morning cigarette, but felt I needed it still.

Ill be honest, I was surprised how easy it was, but I went right to real mod after trying the cigalike. Got a VV/VW device with a protank, which at the time, was THE VAPE TO HAVE if you considered yourself a real vaper. I skipped the ego/crappy clearo stage, so that did make it easier I think. But I also like vaping after the second puff. Coughed on the first puff, and on the second I inhaled this amazing tiramisu flavored vapor, and, instantly I was like.. OO. Yeah, this'll work. I did try lots of different ways of vaping to keep away the cigs, and then once I found subohm vaping on rebuildable drippers, I knew I would never go back for sure.

Been over 2 years, dont miss them at all.
