i picked up an EGO starter kit and went to lunch with my son. i told him if vaping passed the beer test i'd never touch another cigarette again.
evidently it worked, and saved my life..... best of luck.:D
i just noticed that tomorrow makes that little story 2 years old.

For me it happened almost immediately. I just knew that this would give me the nicotine without the unfortunate side-effects of burning stuff. It has worked for me and I urge you to stick with it for a bit. For me it became clear that vaping tasted nicer and still delivered nicotine. That's all I needed to know - and when I started equipment was, well, how can I put this - really, really bad. :)

Stop trying to quit! Years of the NRTs have us brainwashed it is nearly impossible to quit. It becomes a mental block. They want it that way so you keep bouncing back and forth between smoking and the NRTs. Perfect your vape with different liquids and devices. In my case after 3 months of dual use with no intention of quitting I picked up the last cigarette and it tasted so bad that was it. Just enjoy vaping. Remember it's not the cigarettes you smoke it's those that you don't that counts. Even after 4 years sometimes I think we all should try a cigarette once in while to remind us how bad they are. Cigarettes YUCH! E-Cigs YUMMMM!

When I bought my new kit at the beginning of this week, I didn't ever intend to completely give up, but I've smoked far fewer analogues than I expected (only half a one yesterday and one today).

As an "all or nothing" kind of person I'm now disappointed with myself whenever I have an analogue!

My question is, for those who have given up completely, how quickly did you manage to switch to just vaping? Am I trying to do too much too fast? Yesterday my mum said I shouldn't set myself up for a fall my trying to quit cigs too quickly!

I think association is going to be a problem. I'm vaping in the bedroom / office, but only smoke outside. The trigger for having the cigarette I just smoked was walking into the garden where I usually smoke. If I'd stayed upstairs I wouldn't have had it, but I can't stay shut in my vaping den forever! I suspect it's going to prove even harder when I go to the pub...

All tips appreciated.
Everyone is different but i personally tried quiting smokes about 8 times total, every diffrent way with never enough will power, then i tried my first throw away ecig, my friend and i made a pact to throw away the packs!. The i made the jump and bought a ego blister pack and when i ran outa smokes i vaped 100%. The first year i would still smoke if i was drinking alcohol or enjoying some illegal substance, i have grown to hate cigs, the smell, the taste, the price.. Lol and now i do not snoke at all. I vape everwhere, i work construction so when working i do join the smokers in the smokeing areas. Do what works for you best, if you want to quit find a ecig and juice that you love. I smoked menthols so i use menthol juice, very rarely do i use any other flavor, the fruity flavors dont do it for me. My first ego battery and tank helped me transition but soon i found i was buying larger and better tanks and batterys.i am not promoting anyone I love my eleaf 30w, and my rba style tank. Good luck stay strong, you can do it!

My wife and I had a tradition. Every November when the time changed (that hour is free, right?) we would go out on the patio and smoke a cigar. The first year (2012) after 3 months of vaping, that cigar was pretty darned good. The second year was, meh. The third year my wife took one puff and I could only get thru about 1/2 before I put it out. I figure the tradition is done...doubt that we will do it again this year. Maybe we can find another tradition to start.

When I finally got worthwhile gear at the beginning of 2014 (after putzing with cigalikes back in 2010 and 2011) I still smoked quite a bit for about a month. Finally got to a point where I'd spent enough money on gear and juice, and I didn't feel justified in spending money on cigarettes. Bought my last pack on Friday, March 7 and smoked the last one on Monday, March 10. Yeah, a pack actually lasted over a whole weekend by that point (from about 25 years of PAD)

Sure, there have been times I have thought about having a cigarette. Just decided it wasn't worth it :)

Took me a few months. I immediately dropped down to 2-3 smokes a day (first thing in the AM with my coffee, right after a big dinner, sometimes right before bed); figured I needed those three to function normally and every other cigarette I smoked throughout the day was more or less an excuse for a quick break that I could replace with vaping.

After a week or so, my smoking just kind of naturally dropped to one a day, then one every few days, then none at all. I still bought a pack maybe every couple of months or so if I felt like smoking, but I was always able to go back to full-time vaping pretty easily. Last pack I bought was probably around a year ago, I still have most of that pack left, sitting in my closet.

I think the biggest thing for me was that I allowed myself to have a smoke if I wanted to (still do, actually, although I can't remember the last time I did). Most of the other times I tried to quit (gum, patches, etc.), as soon as I had a single cigarette I felt like I failed, and I was right back on the wagon. Since I allowed myself to have a cigarette if I really wanted one, smoking one or two on a night out or whatever didn't feel like a big failure.

Have to set your mind to it, then understand your triggers. Sounds as if youre ahead of the game on that aspect.

A big one for me was immediately after waking up.

My solution was to have a fully charged mod and a full tank of juice right beside my bed.

As soon as I woke up I would vape until the cigarette cravings went away.

For the really tough cravings I kept an ashtray full of wet, nasty cigarette butts on my porch and I would smell it. Invariably the cravings would stop.

I even stopped drinking for 6 months because I knew it was going to be tough for me.

When I did eventually go out to drink I made sure I had backups for my batteries, my juice and my cartomizer.

I also found it helpful to adjust the voltage upwards a couple of points from 5.0 volts to 5.4 volts. You can do the same with a variable wattage mod by setting it a little higher than normal to compensate for the numbing effects of alcohol.

Good luck and remember especially when first starting out, that every cigarette you do not smoke is a small victory. Try not to be too hard on yourself when you stumble or fail and use the opportunity to ask yourself why it happened.

Once you figure out the "why" you can then work on solutions to make sure it doesnt happen again.

Good luck and I hope that helps.

It took me a week to quit cigs completely. Every time I went outside to smoke, I brought my e-cig along. I would take a drag on the smoke, then use the e-cig. I did this everyday for a week. Sometimes I would just decide to not go out for that smoke. By the end, I really couldn't stand the taste of cigarettes anymore. My last one was only two puffs.
If you try to push yourself too hard, you might fail. Enjoy the ride. You could be surprised at the outcome.

I've been vapeing a good while now. I'm at the point now we're analogs don't ever cross my mind. It wasn't always like that though. My trigger was stress! I would get overwhelmed and run back to the convince store where I picked up my two packs everyday before work. After making the switch I would find myself back there on bad days. Then I slowly realized, I don't want these. I would end up smoking one or two, and throw the pack away. But the key was, I didn't beat myself up about the slips! I got over it, and picked up my mod. Started again. In time, I made it. SO WILL YOU!

For flavours just go with what you like, for me trying a bunch of different flavours helped keep it interesting and me occupied. Might be different fir you though.

Some fave flavours..
Plumeroom.com - love all their tobaccos so far candied cavendish / burley candy. Have some fruity ones waiting.
Vintage eliqs - legend, nice sweet tobacco
Space jam - astro nice mild apple
Charlie noble - nice desserts like raspberry ripple ice cream, commodore pearry
Trippy drips - ruby red, natural tasting strawberry
Ahlusion - shipwreck, nutty tobacco and autumn mist a smooth apple are good

Don't pressure yourself, if you enjoy the vaping at some point it will take care of itself :)

Remember too that one trait that all successful people share is never giving up despite setbacks.

J.K Rowling was rejected by 12 different publishers before being accepted by Bloomsbury and even then her editor cautioned her to get a day job because she wouldnt make any money writing children's books.

Boy did she prove him wrong.

I purchased an ego starter kit and never had another cigarette since.. Been over a year and don't even desire one. I smoked for over 30 years (a pack and half of Virginia Slim 120 menthol).
That's what I smoked. Those & those Misty menthol 120's. We've come a long way, baby!

It took me a few months when I actually started vaping on actual vape gear and moved away from Cigalikes. I mainly used those little things as a discreet nic system. I bought an evod batt and a protank 3 to start vaping and cut back the cigs last December. I still smoked the first few months but when I got my kbox and the subtank mini v2 I was able to kick the stink logs to the curb! I started in higher nic (12-24 mg) but have cut that down to 3-6 mg per. I tried a cig about 4 or 5 months ago and hated it. As someone said before a good trick is to vape where you smoke.
Get yourself a setup to suits your needs and helps you forget about the cigarettes cuz it delivers the right amount of nic to satisfy cravings.
I too never thought id give up cigs. I was ready to die, hypothetically, smoking those horrible addictaticks. I can see myself giving up vaping if necessary. No time soon, mind you, but I could.
Where's my mod...
