sorry, I don't get it. when you smoked did you light up in starbucks? or in a movie theatre? no, you went about your business and smoked when and where you could and guess what? you were ok.

But PeterforPats, the OP was NOT smoking. And I saw nothing in his story saying that vaping was prohibited in this establishment. Why assume it was? Do you believe that the rules for smokers should always apply to vapers? If the OP was using nicotine gum or a prescribed nicotine inhaler, would you still think he needed to "go elsewhere"?

IMHO, the only mistake Soba1 made was stealthing. Unless you are somewhere where it is explicitly not allowed, I say vape publicly and vape proud. Don't intentionally blow huge plumes in someone's face or surround yourself in a fog, but don't go out of your way to hide what you're doing or restrict yourself to smoking areas, either. Based on my personal experience, anyone who approaches you about it is far more likely to be curious than judgmental. Of those who've approached me, 100% were either smokers or someone who loves a smoker. And I had the perfect opportunity to respectfully educate and inform.

I know how it was when I first switched. I'd made this huge change in my life, felt this enormous sense of victory, but I had been a smoker for a long, long time and I wasn't quite sure yet that I wouldn't always be a smoker. So I felt a little guilty and uncertain about public vaping.

But I eventually realized the truth. I do not smoke. I don't stink up the air, I don't exhale poisons and toxins, I don't drop hot ashes on furniture and clothing, and I don't leave behind smelly ashtrays and gutters full of trash. I vape. Lots of people don't understand the difference, but I can't change their minds until I am willing to be a public example. No one learns from the invisible.

Vape on.

Lol English professor, so you got me.....
Ok then would vape etiquette be the proper phrase or please feel free
to inform me. I take knowledge however it might or may :facepalm:come.... :D

Well the way I see it, you've got two options here.

1. Go for a more fitting word usage: "Yup I conspicuously vaped, the employees were looking..."

2. Get better at the stealth part.

If there is no exhale of vapor there is no offense.
Also do you realize that many people are starting to vape and doing
so without regard to those around them. Just maybe this little story
and stories like this will enlighten those new to vaping. Just mho.
Many people do searches on cigs and this forum comes up a great deal.

" i'll show them"! starbucks and others are private businesses and if they don't want you vaping then don't vape- we have to educate and change minds but sneaking a vape is only going to reinforce their belief that we are doing something wrong. it sounds something a kid would do

Let me expound, vaping was not prohibited. So therefore no law was broken

Kristin0624, I hadn't heard that bit of news about Starbucks. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

Too bad I don't drink coffee -- threatening to take my business elsewhere doesn't have much punch! But I hope Starbucks-lovin' vapers do make some noise and point out that vaping isn't smoking. No tobacco, no combustion, no flying particulates, and no second-hand danger.

Habbits die hard and i vape like i smoked. I go out with the smokers for one reason only and that is to carry on doing what i have always done. I catch up on the gossip and it also helps others switch. I now stand proud with a bunch of freinds that all vape or use e cigs. When i go out i still vape like i smoked and not impose my habbit on others. I don't want to encouage any none vapers into starting. It's all about the respect and nothing more. Hell i have more none smoking freinds who now stand and chat so the gossip soak up just got bigger :)

Whether vaping is good or bad it is still a habbit that we should not impose on others. Educate others understanding that what you are doing is good for you only and not neceserely good for them (unless they are a smoker and defo need to convert...LOL)

Within 25 feet of the store? Vaping? Then I would take my business elsewhere.

While I do understand that anti smokers have a "fear" of vape vapors, they are so uninformed. They need to be informed, bottom line.

I will continue to slealth vape wherever I want. Odds are that no one will even notice. If they do, I can always walk outside. In large, most people are so darn busy doing their own thing that wouldn't even know if you picked your nose, LOL. (Well, here in NY, anyway)

starbucks has banned vaping in it's stores- like it or not it's their place/ their rules. would you vape in an emergency room? how about in church? I mean why not? its not smoking- you're not burning anything, no odor. my question is still why do feel the need to flaunt the fact that you vape and let people know that nothing can prevent you from taking a vape? asking first and explaining I understand not just sneaking around to see if you can do it.

I was in San Francisco a couplee of weeks ago, the wife and I went to a Starbucks one morning for a cup of coffee, well I had coffee, she had one of those rediculous coffee shakes that costs a mortgage payment or two. So after we got our drinks we sat outside enjoying the nice weather, since we live in Vegas, anything under 190 is nice. Seriously though, we left 115 @ home to low 70's.

Anyway as we were sitting outside at one of their tables I was vaping away, not hiding, not sneaking, just vaping. (ego stick, T2 tank). not one problem. An employee came out to straighten up, asked if we were doing ok, and left. No problem. So either there is no vaping ban, or the Starbucks employees there didn't care to enforce it.

Look, I'm not a jerk, I won't vape in Church during a sermon, but I ain't going 500 yards away from all doors or windows either. If i'm outside I'll vape, if I'm inside I'll ask/ look for a smoking area. I WON"T be a victim of the antismoking zealots anymore.

Peak,
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ans-vaping-inside-within-25-feet-outside.html

"A memo sent to North American store managers Monday states that Starbucks has extended their no-smoking policy to include oudoor areas and electronic cigarettes.

According to the memo, the policy goes into effect June 1st. “No Smoking” stickers will be placed on outdoor tables, and “electronic cigarettes … are not permitted within Starbucks or outside within 25 feet of the premises including outdoor seating.”

So, Starbucks has officially banned both smoking and vaping. They are a private establishment and can make whatever rules they wish.

Not pro or con, since i don't visit Starbucks, but that this their new policy. Many vapers have thus boycotted Starbucks and I can't say I blame them. :)
