Hello all,

Sorry if this is a lame question.

first a lil background: I've been doing A LOT of reading and watching video's. I have been vaping on my k808 for going on a month now... getting ready to start diy juice and all sorts of really great stuff [omfg i luv you guys!!!! this forum rocks!] I currently like sweet juices at a 50/50 vg/pg at 30mg [cinnabun by high caliber is my fav]. I was hell bent to stay with my k808 for monetary reasons but also... it's working. why "fix" it? but my back up battery recently went for a swim. And i know batteries don't last forever...so . . .

I am looking for a good kit to buy for when my k808's go to the great vape cloud in the sky.
I have some time to research and keep reading. I am looking to buy something new in the near future.

I want:
to not have the icky burn taste of cartomizers [so a clear type carts would help me & it does seem like there are more options for a 510 threads]

have a replaceable battery

a longer battery life

to be able to chain vape if the occasion allows [ i am not a dripper]

a fair degree of portability... i live in grand central station

something that i will be satisfied with until these batteries dies. and hopefully ill just buy new ones of the same thing [i know...i know... we all want a new shiny toy...but i swear i'm not all about that. if it gives me my nic i'm generally a pretty happy camper]

something that in the long run will not be terribly expensive to maintain my habit

disposable but reusable attys

something that i can buy most of the parts in one or two places

I don't want:
problems with leaking

something that requires a certified welder or a lot of fussing to get it to work, ie the spark plug. [i am an artist and have more tools then most men i know... but at the same time i'd rather save myself the trouble and get something that has a good reliable rep]

all kinds of adaptors

I am indifferent to:

i do not require it to look like a cig. and am not terribly worried how it looks in public.

taking things apart and cleaning them

if the initial cost is on the higher end...but in the long run is cheaper to keep running

after only a couple of days looking i am current eyeballing the ego power kits @ gotvapes.com
GotVapes E-POWER Replaceable Battery eGo Kit - BLACK 18650 [gotvapes-epower-black18650] - $58.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

what do you think? are there things i'm missing from my list of wants or dont wants? any recommendations on good kits? so far i like got vapes b/c they sell the kits, battery replacements and cartos. along with some handy things i may need along the way.

I appreciate your time, thank you!

Hi Razz,

Thanks for being so detailed in what you are using now, and what you want. That helps us guide you much better than the cryptic queries we often get here.

I going to suggest looking into the Riva, available at LibertyFlights:

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

It uses 510 threading, and it looks like the eGo/tornado/other fat-batt PVs, but there is a difference, and that is it delivers a true 3.7V to the atty or carto, unlike the eGo which is only 3.2V "under load". Your kr8 is also a true 3.7V batt under load, so the working voltage will be the same, but it will last at least 2x as long. The kr8 is a 280 mAh batt and the Riva is 650 mAh. The eGo is quite good, and I use one, but that extra kick is very nice. Goggle "Riva 1100 mAh" and you will find other vendors that sell bigger Riva batts. There is also the KGO, from HoosierEcigSupply:

eGo 1100 mAh 2 battery kit

Pretty much the same as the Riva, but made by SLB. I have one, and one will last me all day long with an LR carto. Of course, there are many vendors that sell the eGo, of all sizes, and with the variety of resistances available now, the battery voltage is not as critical anymore...but I also like the softer button on the KGO/Riva better than the hard button of the ego. But that's a matter of taste.

The ego battery is available also as a USB passthrough too, with a mini USB plug at the end of the batt. This gives you, as long as you have USB power available pretty much endless vaping.

I am not as taken with attys as I used to be, and if I use them I do drip, no more leaky carts for me, but these days I love Boge 510 soft-tip LR cartos (available at Lebertyflights and lots of other places):

Electronic Cigarette - Cartomizers - Boge Cartomizers

I take the tip off and put a drip tip on for easy topping off, and cooler contact with the mouth (the cartos can get fairly warm). Great hit, flavor, vapor, and I rarely get a burnt taste if I keep them wet. That's the rule on all attys and cartos. Most burnt taste is the user not keeping the coil wet. Clearomizers I would not really recommend. They work great right out of the wrapper, but have issues with wicking well and mine tend to leak. But then everything will leak if it is overfilled, including cartos and attys. I also use XL dual-coil cartos, for about 2x the juice capacity of a regular carto, great flavor and LOTS of vapor. Instead of one coil with low resistance, it uses 2 coils with higher resistance, so all the great flavor of HR, but twice the vapor.

There is now an eGo PCC charging case available, but I either use the charger that came with my KGO kit, or a 510 extension adapter and use a regular 510 charger.

Other vets might suggest other models. The above work really well for me.

Other veterans may chime in here to recommend a mod, but I'm with Kurt on this. The 18650 e-Power is a huge leap from your Kr8. It has mega-mAh (which is not bad, of course), but is much larger than what you are use to. I have the virtually identical 18650 NoEgo (basically the e-Power sold without batts and charger) as well as the 14650 version. They're shown in this photo next to the 650 mAh eGo (same size as the 750 mAh Riva that Kurt recommended) on the far right.

Your Kr8 (assuming that it is not the 103mm shorty) is about the same length as the eGo, although skinnier. That $30 Riva at Liberty-Flights (click the "20% Discount" icon in the upper left of the screen first, to see that price) would almost triple (268%) your vaping time without being overwhelming in size ... and it opens up the huge world of 510 and eGo atomizers/cartomizers/tanks/accessories. [NOTE: You can get the 1100 mAh Riva from Vapor Junction for $50 ... or just add an 1100 mAh battery ($20) to your 750 mAh Liberty-Flights kit whenever you like.]

eGO-in-hand.jpg

I like the NoEgos/e-Powers, but I don't use mine nearly as often as I use my fat batts (i.e., models like the Riva and eGo). They certainly are good, low-cost mods. And make no mistake, they are mods. Don't let the cones (which use is optional) fool you. The 18650 version looks and feels nothing like an eGo.

However, if indeed you are "indifferent to...the initial cost...on the higher end" and would like a mod now, the one I would urge you to consider is NotCigs' Buzz Pro ($159 including batts and charger) or upcoming less expensive Infinity Pro ... or, if you prefer, the more expensive ProVari or Darwin. If you're going to go mod, go variable voltage. In this video review, pbusardo presents and describes what he loves about the Buzz Pro and variable voltage.

All that having been said, my favorite PV right now is the CigEasy's new $50 Elite 808, which I reviewed a few days ago. It's only 380 mAh (so would be only "one small step for a [wo]man":2cool:), but is a slender beauty and vapes spectacularly. And it is Kr8-compatible, so you can use your current cartos on it. The Elite is shown here next to your Kr8.

So lots of choices ... and Kurt and I have just scratched the surface by presenting our own favorites.

Enjoy the adventure!
