For some people there is a transition period. Count the ones you don't smoke, not the ones you do. Two people have pointed out that for some of us, we needed to do both vape and smoke. It took me a month of both to finally kick my hardest one to stop smoking.......that last one before bed. For most people it is the first one of the morning and the one after a meal.

While you are playing the lets find the perfect liquid game, do not beat yourself up if you have a cigarette. Consider how many you would have had to how many you don't have. You have many options that people have suggested for a liquid. buy samples and get them with different nic strengths. Use us as your support system. We will cheer your victories and we will encourage you as you progress in this journey.

Remember, you are not the first one to go through this and you have lots of company. :)

I know I'm late but when I started vaping and had my last cig, the mornings were the worst. The only real solution is to find a flavor that's tolerable and suck on that e-cig for as long as it takes for the nic craving to subside. 5 minutes, 10 minutes, longer, however long it takes. Giving up cigarettes takes commitment and determination, well at least it did for me.

So don't get down on yourself, there are others that had a hard time switching over too, I'm one of them. This break I smoked, next break I vaped. I gave up smokeing one break or one time for a smoke at a time. Once my brain really learned I could vape instead of smoke, the panic subsided.

I bought a Blu starter kit on a whim because it was on sale for 35 bucks and I was curious for a while. The battery life was awful and as a result I wasn't getting good nicotine delivery. Even as it stood tho, I was only smoking an analog every couple of days, and it was only when I was at the brew pub. After 5 weeks and going through problems with 3 diff starter packs and a premium pack I broke down and bought a iTaste, mvp, an extra tank, and 2 diff flavors ( tasty flavors that were nothing like cigs) one in the highest nic level and one te next step down. (32 and 24 I think?) and they're doing me far better than any cravings I ever had smoking an analog. It's nothing like holding a regular cig, but I really didnt feel the need to have one between my fingers anymore. There's several non-push-button styles that are similar in size to a real cig that people seem to think have acceptable battery life for their size. I'm still pretty new to this so I can't rattle off any models, but I'm very happy with the unit I bought. Hang in there bud, use the amount of money you've already spent for the determination to stick with it.

I love Vermillion River's Kentucky Premium Blend. :)

This is the best.
I am completely off cigs since Mother's Day this year.
I will never be without it. Ever.
Also I love v2's Sahara.
I hate sweet / dessert vapes and the fruity ones taste like Pine Sol or something else icky to me.
I vape these 2 all the time and never even think of my Benson and Hedges anymore.
Honest.
I am 66 and am the most addictive person I know.
You can do this!!!

I selected a menthol tobacco flavor for my transition because that's what I was smoking for analogs. I have no idea if the theory that it would aide the change held true, but it did work. I quit right away - one "goodbye" smoke and strictly vapor since.

I have 2 friends who got off tobacco with fruit flavors, but both still smoke coffin nails here and there. I also have a hardcore, diehard Marlboro boyfriend about to make the change... Plus, I'm moving on to other flavors soon as I have some cash. He wants a tobacco flavor (non menthol) and watermelon. I'll let ya know how we do.

Excellent, excellent advice. I think many people underestimate the roles of commitment and willpower in making the switch. Vaping surely is easier than quitting cold turkey with superhuman resolve, but some resolve is surely necessary. Vaping is rarely a magic bullet.

Keep telling yourself this above all else.............and try believing it.
45yrs here 1 1/2 to 2 MD Reds could not kick the habit with Clown shoes!
Started Vaping and never looked back.

Most good Tobacco flavors take steeping time to mature into something worth Vaping. If you are ordering, popping open and vaping you will never discover it.

There are plenty of mixes that are not sweet. A few RY4 types are really nice and do not taste like licking grass.
Coffee types are my non sweet go to vapes. I no longer desire anything to remind me of smoking. After all quitting and forgetting go hand in hand.
Good Luck

What the heck is steeping? I keep seeing that word?!

Hey PZ,

Hang in there. I wish I had some tobacco flavors to recommend for you. After 30 years of smoking a pipe with heavy english tobaccos and 20 years of smoking Marlboro Menthols, I was shocked when I picked up an ecig and couldn't stand tobacco flavors. Is there a vapors club or vape meet anywhere near you? That would be a great way to try a variety of juices for free.

bboff,

Steeping is letting your juices sit for a while after you get them. Many flavors actually get better with time. Roar Amnesia is one of my favorite juices. When they send it to me, it's bland and unflavorful. 3 weeks later its full and rich. I haven't a clue why but it does actually change it.

I started vaping last Sunday - so this is day 8 for me. I was smoking an avg of 50/day before. Smoked 29 years and determined not to make it to 30!

I need to play tricks with myself while I transition. Day 1 I started a timer at 30 minutes and would have a cigarette when it went off. Then increased the timer by 1 minute each cigarette. I continued on day 2. Then I added 10 minutes a day. The past few days I've just cut down the # of cigs I've had. The worst day I had was 18 (when both batteries needed charging) and today will be 7. I know within a week or two or three I'll be either off analogs completely or down to a couple.

But I know if I didn't have a PLAN of some kind, it wouldn't be working for me. If I got rid of analogs, I'd have had too much anxiety. If I didn't have a plan to cut back on analogs, I'd not be where I am now.

Sure it's better if you quit analogs completely and sooner rather than later but ease off on the pressure and expectations and figure out what CAN work for you.

One thing that has helped me is moving to analogs that aren't my normal brand but are a little stronger. That's made them grosser for me.

Greetings pzsoulman,

I know your pain.... I feel exactly the same way (if not, MORE frustrated than you feel)

You'll notice the majority of responses are trying to get you to try other flavors or just to turn your back completely on tobacco (cigarettes)
Sure, ....you'll get tobacco e-juice recommendations from people here in this forum. I'm thinking, even then, it's not working out for you, based on your thread.

As much as it pains me to say "don't give up", it looks like you're heading down that road.... as for me (Vaping since July 1st, 2013)... I am going to stop vaping.... after I've finished the crap I already bought. Then, I'm going to wait a year before considering the vaping route again. I'm not going to "give up"....BUT I am going to stop vaping for quite awhile and hope that one day someone gets the flavor right.

Oh, yah.... you can't replicate a cigarette. At least, that's what they say.

I wish you the best.

Sorry to hear of your frustration!

I know there are a TON of responses with many different options already, so I'll keep mine quick.

PG (Propylene Glycol) tends to have a much stronger throat hit than VG (Vegetable Glycerin), so maybe you want to do a more PG heavy mix?

Here are a few tobacco flavors from my local vape shop that are PG flavors. I know a lot of people that love them (I myself like the fruity stuff...)

E-Liquid Tobaccos | E-Liquid | esmokeronline | eSmoker Online

Good luck, and good on you for looking for inspiration instead of just throwing in the towel! Keep up the good fight!

Hey pzs and 20+, before you guys go...

40+ yrs ex-smoker here and almost gave up vaping. Like you and others, I've tried almost all of the tobacco flavors. No joy. DIY? Came out even worse.

Well one day, out of desperation, I decided to smoke the 24mg NIC base VG that I use for DIY. Viola! Tasted like Marlboro lights!

Hardware: Found some tricks to have that "burning tobacco" flavor. A genesis setup is all that's needed. I found out that if I allow a little bit of dry hit or wick burns before tilting, there's that surreal throat-hit sensation that feels like a burning tobacco when using the pure ejuice above. It's like dialing between Marlboro lights and red.

Of course it's all subjective. Just want to share my 0.02 Try it. It may be the taste your looking for.

PS: I'm back to buying and DIY'ing flavors. pure VG is still my daily vape. I think my brain has been re-prograamed with it that everything I vape, tobacco or whatever flavor, taste and smell so good.

Hang in there! even after 18 months cig free, I still get the desire to have that true cig taste from time to time. When this occurs, I will take a few drags of an NJOY Red Label. My other method of relief is AHLUSION.US . Their aromatic tobaccos are the best I've had. Specifically, to curb the cig craving try their DEVIL DOG! This really does it for me!

I smoked for over 20 years, and the flavors that I started vaping that were able to keep me from smoking cigarettes were peanut butter, and waffles. Not sure why, but those flavors were the only ones that would curb my craving... now I enjoy all different types of flavors with no desire for a real cigarette

Do you guys really think it's beneficial to advise someone who is frustrated to head off into an endless search spending tons of money on specific juices by specific vendors? Like to me, Devil Dog is gross as hell.
What's the root of the frustration? What can we do that will help somebody along their own path without sending them to the poorhouse and feeling defeated in the end?

I'm only a few weeks into vaping but approached this as an onion.
I agree that purchasing/trying more flavors/hardware is easy to try but might be an expensive failure or disappointment.

My approach thus far has been to vape as much as possible but I still have a handful of analogs every day.
I did change cigarette brands a week ago.
I went from Marlboro Lights (smoked them for many years) to American Spirits (light/milds).
I think this is removing the chemical addiction from the onion equation.
I don't really miss the MLs. I still have a partial pack but never reach for it.
I most times I only smoke a partial one (A. Spirit).

This may be a "no cost" lifestyle modification that might help.
YMMV...

There is a lot of merit in viewing this as cigs not smoked - vs gotta be at zero NOW.

Hi there, I'm still new to this (about 4months ago) but I bought V4L, Eversmoke, Njoy, Halo, heck - even an eGO-0 and juices from Halo and Heathers Heavenly vapes and I'm ready to throw in the towel.

Where are all the real ex-smokers?! We never smoked apple, cinnamon, rum in analog - I WANT TABACCO, where can I find it????

I'm so sorry I sound frustrated but I spent hundreds of dollars trying to kick this analog habit, and I am ready to throw in the towel. I can't spend anymore money on juices that taste like candy, I just want something that will help me kick analogs to the curb, in an old fashioned smoky, burned kind of taste!

I have learned that I still prefer the traditional e-cigarette style batteries and carts e.g. eversmoke over the eGO's, just because it makes me feel like I'm holding and puffing an analog.

Where can I find that juice that will help me kick the habit (analogs), I am so committed, but every time I try something new, 20 minutes later I catch myself light up an analog......(I smoked Marlboro lights for 30 years, about 1 - 1 1/2 packs)

Please guys, I need help, I want to quit analogs - forever!!!

Again, please excuse my ranting, I'm just frustrated and disappointed that everything I tried tastes anything but an analog, and would appreciate any help you can give me.

Cheers,
Pete

Have you tried Menthol? I never smoked menthol cigarettes but it has been my main vape for over three years. I don't care for all the candy or fruit flavors either. I smoked for over 50 years but haven't had a cig in 3 1/2 years. Try menthol at 24 mg to start and you can cut down to lower mg after you beat the cravings for cigarettes. I use either Dekang Menthol or Mount Baker Vapor menthol.

@pzsoulman/pete

I only hope you're not like me, having bought a bottle of tobacco flavor juice just to get used to vaping - only to find it reinforced my urge to smoke an analog even stronger because the juice made me unconsciously compare the two (vape and analog); so if you're going to buy one that is close to the real deal, I do hope you have everything planned into the equation for your juice to resemble the analog equivalent: e.g. proper gear modifications, juice nicotine content, throat hit and other criterias.

Kinda sucks vaping something that doesn't have the same "kick" as the real thing... if you know what I mean.
