Hi there!
I'm trying to convert my mother-in-law to vaping, but am drawing a blank as to what setup to get for her.
She's 79 years old and has some dexterity issues -- her hands shake pretty badly, though she still manages a cigarette lighter.
I'd like to get her something that has fairly decent battery life (since I'll be stopping by to put it on the charger for her), does not leak, and has fairly tight draw, resembling mouth to lung smoking. Pretty much just looking for a nic delivery thing resembling sensation of smoking the most, I don't think she'll be cloud chasing :)
I've considered giving her my Reo, but I'm not sure she can squonk. Dripping is obviously out of the question too.
Thinking of some regulated box mod with at least an 18650 capacity, but what tank to put on it?

Thank you for any suggestions!

I don't have them, but I'm hearing the iCares are pretty good. Maybe something like a Pod Mod - easy to handle?

One mod I have that I find quite comfortable is the Wismec Presa 75. The whole front panel is the fire button (there is a lock to prevent misfires, but it's a tetch dicey, even for me.)

Toppers..... I really like the eGo ONE family. The Mega is about 4ml, the XL is around 2.5ml. I put a regular drip tip (I don't like the ones with which they come.) Pretty good airflow adjustment and you can use the CL heads or the CLR heads (if you want to rebuild for her) Nautilus always is great for MTL and folks just getting started with vaping. Lots of coil choices because you can drop in the Triton Mini coils as well. Even a Subtank Nano with the SSOCC heads can be nice - 1.5ohm heads and you can tighten the airflow?

Best wishes to you and your MIL - very cool that you're stepping up!

I realize she doesn't know "which" ecig she wants, but what style would she be be most comfortable with? Cylinder or box ? Would one style feel and work better for her shaky hands? I doubt squonking a Reo would be easy for her, but is she ok with that style box and how it feels in her hand? Do you have any cylinder styles she could hold just to see how that style feels in her hand to compare with the Reo box?

My friend who owns a vapeshop tells me the Joyetech AIO's are very popular with his new vaping customers right now. There are several different ones to choose from. Kanger and Aspire make some similar ones too. Most of the AIO's are reasonable priced so maybe a good place to start to see how she does with it. :)

I'm a 64 year old lady who smoked 1 - 1 1/2 PAD for 42+ years before I quit with the help of vaping. I recommended the following to someone else on another thread, and I think your MIL would like it, too.

DesertVapes.com has a 30% off sale going until Monday at midnight. Use the Code: OCTNL30 at Checkout to get the discount!

They're a great company that sells good vape gear, has reasonable prices and S/H, and their customer service is wonderful.

Eleaf iStick 10w Kit Blue - With 30% off...that's $13.97 and it comes in several colors!

Kanger ProTank 2 Mini SOCC - Comes in a variety of tank colors, and with 30% off...that's only $3.47 per tank!

Kanger SOCC (Organic Cotton Coil) - Can get them from 1.5-3.2ohms/5 pack - Japanese Organic Cotton Wick, and with 30% off...they're $2.77 per 5-pack!

Can't get much cheaper than that for a set-up made by reputable manufacturers...that's easy to use, dependable, and has readily available replacement coils.

I've been vaping since Nov. of 2013, and along with other more powerful and widely varied set-ups (including RTAs and RDAs), I still use all of the above regularly. Eleaf and Kanger are good names, reliable companies, and I've had NO trouble from any of mine!

You could buy 2 of the mods (so while one's charging she can still vape), 2 of the tanks (allows for 2 eliquid choices at a time for her), and probably 3-4 packs of the coils (about 6 months' worth). While everything's on a really good discount...all of that would be about $40 total! DesertVapes S/H is inexpensive, too...@ $3.25 if total is less than $50, FREE if $50 or more.

Additional options that I've hit upon recently and have bought several of for myself and friends, are these 2 tube-shaped set-ups: The Kanger Evod Mega Kit (1900mAh battery, matching 2mL tank, and charger) and the Kanger TopEvod Kit (650mAh battery, matching smaller top-fill tank, which I love, and charger). I've found both of them on sale for between $8.97-$12.00 recently! They both take readily available coils as well. Would be happy to check and find those kind of deals for you, too, if interested in either one of them.

Subtank mini with the 1.5 ohm coils. Maybe on a pico. Gets you started pretty cheap. And if she hates it the subtank is pretty good with the lower resistance coils as a back up for you.
I would actually go with the toptank mini, so it can be left on the mod to fill. As long as it was filled in a short time, say a minute or 2, it shouldn't leak. (they tend to leak through the air holes if left open while filling for to long, but a couple minutes would be fine) Be sure to start her off on a low wattage with low air flow. Remember, those first few vapes are rather harsh until you get used to it, just like when you first started smoking..
Use a LG 3000mah battery, she'll be puffing all day without needing a recharge. Use the good quality brand name batteries, sony,lg,samsung. True, she will not be entering cloud competitions.. well she might but lets assume she won't, but I would not buy cheap rebranded batteries for myself, I sure as hell wouldn't buy them for anyone else. Think of it like this.. one in a million.. the battery goes boom.. could you forgive yourself for the sake of $2 you save?

Hmm, that is a fantastic idea. I should take my shoebox full of old mods to see what shape, firing mechanism, and button location works better for her.

@Commie - VaporBeast has a 20% off sale going until midnight tomorrow night, and they have the Kanger Evod Mega Kits for $10.97 - 20% = $8.78/kit! They come in several colors, too.

From their website: "AMAZING VALUE!

The EVOD Mega Kit is the latest from Kanger, sporting a massive 1900 mAh 3.7v battery, a 2.5ml pyrex tank, and one micro USB cable. This Kit makes an excellent kit for someone new to vaping. The battery will provide extra long battery life, and the tank capacity is the largest of any EVOD ever released. Which means, less refilling. Making for a carefree vaping experience."

They take the Kanger DC Upgraded coils (regular cotton wicks, so less expensive), and/or the newer Kanger VOCC ones (more expensive, but better cotton). I've bought them in 4 of the colors, 2 kits in each...they're that great IMO. Friends I've bought them for are loving theirs, too.

@Commie - VaporBeast also has the Kanger TopEvod Kits I mentioned, for $15.95 - 20% = $12.76/kit! They come in several colors, too. Best things about them, IMO, are that they're smaller than the Evod Mega and are top fill!

From their website:
"The eVod kit offers outstanding value! This is the latest version that features a newly designed 650 mAh Evod battery and an easy to use top filling tank with 1.7mL liquid capacity. If you are new to vaping...this is the can't miss product of the year. The Top Evod Kit combines incredible value and solid performance!"

They also take the Kanger DC Upgraded coils (regular cotton wicks, so less expensive), and/or the newer Kanger VOCC and VOCC-T (more expensive, but better cotton). I've bought these in all 4 of the colors, too. Several vaping "newbies" (women) have liked this overall size better than the larger Evod Mega. I personally use my Mega's mostly at home and grab one of the smaller TopEvod's for trips into town. (Fits easier in my purse.)

Maybe she'd like 1 Evod Mega Kit (for at home) and 1 TopEvod Kit (for out and about) for the price they've got them now.

That's excellent info. I'm saving this post to use for suggestions to new vapers.
