Oh you folks are killing me with the renovations. I have several to do. retaining wall in back by pool needs to replaced with brick. Old ceramic tile inside torn up and replaced with...something else, maybe wood, maybe slate. Can't decide so I do nothing. Hate renovations, hate trying to find reputable people, hate strangers in my home. I repainted myself two years ago. Lots of golds and taupe's. Need to have ceilings painted though. Need new couches but do not want to buy until I do floors. Unless the right reputable people fall in my lap I am in no hurry to do any of it. Maybe the wall in the back since it is currently holding back dirt with some rotting railroad timbers. I get angst just thinking about tearing up the floors and the mess that will come with that.
You know what Chanel?!? Idk what suburbs are your location near the ATL but I've been in a few and it seems that all of the houses in them were built mostly the same way... I know my house I sold was built in the early '90 and already was falling apart. Yep a slab house. Those seem to have more problems than those built on wooden foundations or as they call them,.."Stick Built". I hope your house isn't built even close to the way mine was in Monroe. Some around Kennasaw and Woodstock seem to have been much better built imo.

I married my husband six years ago. Since then, we've basically redone most of the house --he was basically living here like a kid in his parents' basement...not even a kitchen table. And talk about Florida? The main areas of the house were all this lurid peachy-pink. It's now a very pale yellow that looks like sunlight hitting a white wall. The bedrooms are all that remain to be painted. And he is now a decorating snob! Most of our new stuff is from Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel.
But my true love is the kitchen. The walls are Behr Corn Silk Green and we have black granite countertops. The floor is white tile and the appliances white as well. It's gorgeous.
LOL...Lucky you have a guy that actually cares how his house looks..Most don't but I'm not one of them. :p

Well, he cares now that I've enlightened him! He even likes watching some of those HGTV shows, particularly the ones where they do radical rebuilding...that's sort of rough and tough stuff.
I have two daughters who visit here and I think they were frightened the first time they came here! Now it looks like a HOME. Curtains, plants, and we just got our first cat, Missy.

Oooohhh, that sounds beautiful! It kind-of motivates me, as well. But we've had so many projects in our house since we bought it a little over five years ago, that painting the bedrooms is still way down the list. They do need it, and recarpeting as well, but I think that's going to have to come in after a kitchen remodel. When we bought the house, there were enough positives (amazing view of the Bay and Mt. Diablo, and a wine cellar) that we were willing to overlook the things that need updating, which are many. Since I'm a teacher, I really only have summers that I have any excess bandwidth to do any improvements. The first couple of summers, we mostly focused on outside stuff, like replacing the front decking that was falling in, replacing the (whole f***ing) driveway and infrastructure, since it's actually a bridge over a spider-infested dry-rot factory. We really do live on a steep hill, hence the view. We've also had to do extensive terracing to keep the hillside from slowly, slowly working its way toward flat land. Entropy's a b*tch. I won't go into all the rest, but I love the feeling of a home improvement job done. Last year, we got new lighting (and a ceiling fan, although I didn't repaint the spackle holes until this summer, and it turns out the paint doesn't actually match) and a new bed. That bed is so comfy, I slept right through the first earthquake we had after we got it. Funny thing is, we had house guests that weekend, and they did not. I woke up the next morning and was like, "What? What happened?" I can hardly wait until I get to pick out paint and carpeting colors for the bedrooms! I'm thinking three years, max...

@EleanorR , enjoy it! Home improvements are the best!!!

 Dear God, Lisa, I am so sorry about all that work!! At least you have nice views to show for it, and the knowledge that it was done correctly!

I got myself a new mattress & boxspring when I moved into this house back in 2013 (it was time): a Serta iComfort. I'm pretty sure I could sleep through an earthquake on that thing, too! :D

 Typical bachelor! Good thing he's acquired some good taste from you. :) Your house sounds lovely now. I personally need to be surrounded by cool toned colors (I call it "the Valium end of the color spectrum" :D), which is why I'm doing so many rooms at once.

I also know what you mean about that lurid peachy-pink -- it's all too common down here. But hey, some folks like those "high energy" colors -- I'm just not one of them.

YAY!! For me, a house is not really a home until it has a cat. :) Got pictures of her you can post?

There does seem to have been a ton of them put up in the 90's. I live in Paulding County and it was the 7th fastest growing county in the nation for a few years. I liked it better when I first moved here and it was very rural and country. Moved here from Southern Cal and talk about a culture shock. I had never even seen a possum before coming here.
We designed and built our house so I am not a lucky recipient of the cookie cutter, cheaply made homes but there are a ton of them around me

We flipped houses for several years before the bottom dropped out of the market, so we are both very handy. We do it all.

On topic ;), at an outdoor show in NJ, was in the upper 90s today. Vaped some of my sample of Wipeout Honeydew. Not sure I like melon vapes, but it was refreshing and not too sweet on such a hot day. Spot on ripe, fresh honeydew flavor.

Our old house needed so much work plus it was a split level so it was awesome when we bought our ranch home last year and it is perfect! I even love the colors and the textured blinds with matching valances. Kitty loves the 4 inch window sills! They are on every window so she can sit in any window and look outside. All of the windows have privacy film so I can leave the blinds open. This morning birds were digging in the gutters so kitty was going crazy! I did have plants on the window sill but kitty kept pushing them off.

I think Billow Berry gets better after a few weeks of steeping! LVC I love fresh. After steeping it loses some of the lemon and the cake comes out too much for me. Ahlusion Mocha is awesome. I get mine sweetened. (I sweeten anything that has chocolate.) I just filled a tank with some that is over 6 months old and it's so good!

PennyLynn, I'm with Eleanor... A house is not a home without a cat (or seven, in our case)! She's beautiful!

But... but... I can't have a cat. Poeia would have a nervous breakdown.

I can totally understand that... Cats and birds are not natural buddies in the wild. From what you've said about Poeia in the past, though, it sounds like he (she? I don't remember, sorry.) has all kinds of personality. So you have a good excuse for not having a cat.

The rest of you, though... No excuses!

I have a cat, and all my girls are allergic. She lives in the garage in a condominium I constructed out of sonotube, insulation, carpeting, shelving and ramps. She has 1000 acres of woods to explore, a warm comfy bed, gets to come and go as she pleases, and gets a lot of attention. I don't think I've ever met a happier cat. Not my first "Barn Cat" by far, and you would not believe the tone and physical shape these cats attain in this environment. The neighbors love em, and when they get too old for the "outdoors" lifestyle, there is always a neighbor ready to adopt them and take them inside and spoil the HELL outta them.

We rarely see them again if we don't come over to visit. They don't know a pillow in the picture window or gourmet food until they're adopted, but once they DO know it, they're not too keen on coming back. Can't blame them, the cold is tough on old bones. I believe because of the very healthy food we DO feed them, the exercise and outdoor life, they sure seem to live to a ripe old age though.

I bought a new lamp for the bedroom as I only had a 100 watt bulb in there. I could get dressed and not find out I had stains on my clothes until I went out. It's one of those dorm room lamps with 5 arms (and bulbs.) It arrived just after my father broke his hip so I put it together to make sure it worked and left it in the hall.

A few days later I stuck it in the bedroom. When I went in with Poeia later that afternoon, I decided to push it back, closer to the wall. Poeia, who is a chicken, did not approve. She ran down my shirt and onto the bed. As I said something comforting, I heard a noise and turned around. She had slid down the footboard (I have a wrought iron bed) and was walking out of the bedroom as fast as she could.

The I'mnotZak family has their own mini fur farm.:) A really handsome flat faced persian named Gus, a 11 month old Maltipoo named Papi, and finally, our 3 month old Yorkie baby named LuLu, all 1 pound, 4 ounces of the little princess. Gus is very attached to my 16 year-old son, Papi is my best buddy, and LuLu, well, I think you could guess, is mommy's baby. (Except for the 4am potty call... that has become my honor.)

I currently have 6 in my home. 3 are mine. 3 are rescued from the shelter on their last day before euthanized. I actually rescued just two and it turned to 3 because one was a pregnant momma that only had one baby the day after I brought her home. The baby and the mom were both spayed this past week so both will be going to adoptions next week. Then I will take a break from fostering until next spring.
