A 5/6 wrap 1.2mm ID .8 ohm tight cotton wick is my go to.
With the smaller ID heat up time is not even noticeable.
Of course I am using a suped up Reo with AW 1600mah 18650's so voltage drop is minimal.
(.16V drop with 4.2V battery IIRC)
End up changing out the battery after about 2-1/2 to 3 mil of juice but voltage at the RM2 posts is still about equivalent to what a semi fresh battery will supply in a stock Grand and more than an 18350 mod
BTW even if you don't go south of .6 ohms, length of time before feeling the need to change the battery is a great advantage to the fuse & brass firing pin.

Yeah, I forgot about your tiny jigger-doodle. Definitely, smaller ID would do a lot for heat up time.
