I have no problem at all wrapping a coil, easy-peasy... it's mounting them in a kayfun that gives me such a knickertwist! :D

Andria

Andria if you're not already doing this, next time try holding the coil right against the metal and secure the legs, then when done lift it up and position where you want. If you're doing that already, then just ignore me. :) :vapor:

That's sort of what I do, at least with the first leg; when I do the 2nd leg, I try to lift it up a little, so it's easier to lift it up high once the whole thing is attached -- I want serious TH! :D

Ok, give this a try. Before you take the old coil off, take a good look at how long the legs are. Hold the coil against the top at an angle that will give that leg length when you trap them. Trap them both then lift and rotate clockwise at the same time to get the height you want. That makes the second leg as easy to attach as the first and saves a lot of the screeching sounds you make when doing it the old way. :vapor:

Actually I recoiled the other one last night, and it didn't give me nearly the trouble the first one did. I think it's just that I do it so infrequently, I kinda lose the knack, in-between times. But once I do one of them, the other one is easy. And I really need a third one, to be honest (or more! ;)). If I get a 3rd one, I could do one a month, that way none of the coils would ever be more than 3 months old, and I wouldn't go so long between re-coils and lose the knack of it.

But it's looking like my experiment to see if the old coil might be partly responsible for some of the brown gunk is a bust; I get up this morning, with this freshly-coiled kayfun... and there's brown stuff seeping under the chimney at the bottom. :grr: I guess it's just that "organic" strawberry flavoring plus all the sweetener and WTA in that mix. Not sure there's any way of addressing it; using it in a cartotank would cause the cartos such a short life, why bother? At least with the kayfun, 1) I can see when the juice is getting dark, and know to re-wick, and 2) cotton wicks cost pennies, not the $1.35-$1.50 of cartos.

I tried a few flavors from that line and pretty much liked all of them. Wish I had tried their blackberry now lol.

Blackberry from Vapingzone is the best I have tried. 10 drops per 10 mls, SC line. I really like the flavors from Vaping Zone and the gourmet line is the bomb. No sweeteners needed

I have a couple of questions for all you mixed-manufacturer mixologists. :D A friend has PIFed me 3 diff coconut flavors to test -- thank you, friend!!! -- to see which I like well enough to order. Since I really want to just taste the coconut for comparison, and coconut is a kind of sweet, creamy flavor, I thought something simple like this might be a good way to do it:

CAP Sweet Cream 5%
TFA DX Bavarian Cream 5%
Coconut ?%
TFA Sweetener 2-4%

Does that seem about right, for something very plain and simple to really taste the coconut?

2 of the flavors are Inawera flavors (the Koncentrat and the Shisha), which tend to be pretty strong, so I thought I'd try those at 5%. But one other is Hangsen coconut, and I really have no idea; what's a good percentage with Hangsen's? I don't want any wimpy flavors, I really want to TASTE this flavor, not "detect a hint," but I know that some flavors go really wonky if you use too much.

Thx y'all!

I use the FA for coconut but on the Hangsen fruit flavors I use about 6-7%.

Hangsen tends to be pretty strong, too--although I haven't tried the coconut.

Andria, I buzzed through this relatively quickly, but I don't think I saw anyone answer re: sweetener. Bill's Magic Vapor says Cotton Candy, EM, and sweetener can be interchanged, but the end result will be a bit different because each one has a slightly different flavor profile. Until I got my most recent WL order, I was strictly using sweetener. I've since picked up EM and Cotton Candy and use those when specifically called for in various recipes.

Ok... I have some Em crystals, which I need to mix up. Also, got some MBV Cotton Candy flavoring, but haven't been able to find anyone with an opinion on that. mainly I just use TFA Sweetener, but I thought since I do have the others, I should try 'em out, see how they may differ.

Ok, my coconut test is underway. All mixed, and sitting in some hot water; I'll give 'em a few hours, and then try 'em out. Or I might even wait till tomorrow, to give 'em time to really come together. Gotta say, I'm really rootin' for the Hangsen; it's cheaper than the INW. :D

Well, my first results of my coconut test are in. It's definitely not going to be the Hangsen; at 5%, I really tasted nothing. I didn't get a lot more from the INW Kokos Koncentrat or INW Shisha Coconut, at 5%, so I added one drop of the flavoring itself to the cartos; they each hold approx 1ml, and at 5% in 5ml, I used 5 drops, so it's basically (roughly) raising the percentage one point. Still don't really taste much of anything from the Hangsen.

The two INW... I'm definitely getting more of a coconut taste now, with the additional drop, but I keep wavering as to which is better. It's funny, because each of the test bottles was mixed exactly the same, PG/VG, nicotine, sweetener, everything... and I'm testing each one in a single-coil carto, each carto using a narrow-bore driptip (to concentrate the flavor), and each one is on an iTaste vv3 set to 9w... but for whatever reason, I seem to get more actual vapor from the Kokos Koncentrat, though I have no idea why that would be. *Maybe* more actual coconut flavor from the Shisha.

So I've eliminated one of the 3, which is some progress anyway. ATM my nose and tastebuds are kinda overloaded, so I'm going to let it rest overnight, and try it again tomorrow, and will probably add another drop of flavoring to each, so i can really taste whatever difference there may be.

@ Baseballmom,

Have you tried either the V1 or V2 Apple Pie from Capella? I can't remember, but I am actually digging the v2. I must've not tried it before (which happens a lot with all these flavorings).

Yeah, v1 cap and tfa apple pie were my first two purchases, this apple pie thing(obsession?) is actually what led me to try diy , neither it, not sure how close the cap v2 versions are to the v1's(???). Got my biscuit order in to bcv too, yay!..so many big plans, just so little time lately, glad I mixed a bunch last week!
