And I wasn't even a smoker. I went straight to vapor. Did not pass Go. Did not collect $200. I'm in this for the flavor and the "experience." I've got health issues that prevent me from eating like a normal person so this helps to scratch an impossible, phantom itch/craving.
Wow, I never thought of vaping to help in a way like that Zip. Thanks for sharing that. vape/Spend On my friend ! :D

Norman, Ok
Once you find the right atty, carto, clearo and/or tank... and the right e-liquid to suit you... anything else you spend on is usually for curiosity or a gadget hobby habit :D

I hardly count what I spend on the hobby or "got to have that thingy" portion of it... all that counts to me is what supplies I need to satisfy the habit portion. I was at 1+ to 2 cartons a week... at that amount, I can easily satisfy my habit as well as a portion of the cool gadget side of it.

Oh noes! TWO Zips?
No really, I do believe zippersnapper has seniority here. He's welcome to the nick.
A nickname for a nickname.....teeheeharhar
A lot of my online friends call me zippy. Hell even some of my real life friends call me zippy.
Which is meant in a humorous way, because I am ANYthing but "zippy."
I mighta been when I had my '98 Corvette....but that's long gone. :(

Anyway, yeah. Vaping for me is a coping mechanism. I've been into it elsewhere on the forums so I don't wanna
take up even MORE space with my own personal bloggy-type stuff.
So I'll keep it short. Had a really rare stomach disease, clinical trial helped but didn't cure it, docs became
concerned that it could develop into full-on cancer, only course of "treatment" was a *total* gastrectomy.
That means I gots no stomach! Esophagus empties into my intestines. So yeah, that causes problems.
Lost a LOT of weight though. 355lbs down to 190lbs. But again, weight loss was NOT the reason for this
procedure and I HIGHLY recommend AGAINST it. Unless you're in a situation similar to mine.

So yeah, viva la vape! It lets me taste without eating!

Whooo..hold on.... I'm Zip... remember me?

Wow, can relate. In '73, post VN injuries ended up with a bilroth2 and vagotomy, left me with 20% stomach, dumping syndrome and post vagotomy ......... 30 seconds from bowl to bowl:). From 210 to 117 lbs. in 4 months. Had 4 follow up surgeries in 5 years following 1st surgerie so they could try and fix their damned mess they made. (Scar tissue that hardened and yet grew.) Became addicted to Paregoric(opium in suspension) and pain killers(any opiate). Lost wife, cars, airplane, nearly engineer and law career and owed tons of money. Ultra sensitive to pepper, onion, Mexican food, Italian food, acidic fruits and vegetables, etc. Have to eat 5 small, bland meals a day. Finally up to 140lbs after all this time. No longer use opiates at all, no whiskey(damn).

Cessation of smoking analogs has helped me a great deal especially in eating and hanging on to food long enough. Always feel cold, normal temp. is around low 96 degrees. Learned depression is a choice, I choose to be positive as possible and active to fight the damned pain. Sempre Avanti, Italian for Always Forward. 2 weeks I will turn 73, God willing.

Fight!!!!!!!!

It's really touching to read your stories, pals. I've got a back surgery, pancreas surgery (not from drinking) followed by unexplained muscle pain on my plate, so smoking creeped in as a way to (somewhat) cope with all the stress and depression. So glad I was able to switch to vaping 15 months ago!

Whatever the history, reason or excuse, I think this is a lot better way to cope with such things than smoking, drinking or over eating. Which is why I don't really mind spending slightly more money. It's a hobby! I connect with people, I do stuff with my hands when rebuilding, I'm excited about new stuff, and I dearly enjoy vaping itself. Those are worth a lot to me.

As they say, anything to keep you off the stinkies. Hang in there, everybody!

I decided to put a little idea I have been thinking about to the test today. I have been following Scubabatdans thread on the use of ceramic as a wick. Since I really love the Kanger T3's, I though I might as well make a ceramic wick for it, and see what happens:

I tried using the "flavor" wicks with this setup, and it quickly ran into dry hits. I then removed the flavor wicks, reassembled, and vaped.
I must say, the flavor is much more pronounced. The ceramic stone does not wick as fast as rope, so an easier draw is needed. After every vape, bubbles are rising to the top to indicate it is indeed, wicking. On my next attempt, I will give a couple more wraps of Kanthal, thus giving me more surface area to heat. This setup only yielded 1.8ohm.

Edit:
It's producing a decent amount of vapor, now that that juice is soaking in really good... I'm liking this allot..

Using Boba's, for the ultimate test...........

Nice job on that! Have you thought of squaring the wick on 3 sides and rounding only the bottom? Not sure what it will do to the wicking, but the coil should form easily enough.

I did think of that, but wanted as much surface area as possible in contact with coil and stone..

With boba's (100% VG) you must take a easy and slow draw...But the flavor is awesome...

Man, that's awesome! I'd like to give that a try. My only complaint with the T3 is that I get off-and-on gurgling, resulting in spitting if I don't give it a rest.

And HOLY CRAP what you other folks are dealing with is WAY beyond me. I have to keep telling myself that I don't have it that bad. Because yeah, depression IS an issue with me. I feel cheated out of life. I only had 2 years working for the SSA (MISERABLE years but the pay was good for a goofus outta college with a psych degree) and less than 9 months working as a 911 calltaker/dispatcher before my health went down the tubes. Soooo....I get kinda bitter. But I've got a GREAT family and a hand fulla good friends who've stuck with me.

And all my new vapin' pals here! Posts like ZipperSnapper's keep me reading and thinking about things other than my own sorry self!
:)

I think you're on to something!
If you get it perfected you'll have to post a step by step and PM me as to where to get the materials.

Yeah, Boba's Bounty is my new stress test for devices. I LOOOOVE that stuff but it will kill weak coils! I always wonder if I should use it on a brand new head (haven't started building coils yet, had carpal tunnel surgery this summer and I don't think my hands will ever be back to "normal") to get the most flavor, or use it on a head that's already on the way out the door. Decisions decisions!!!

Good job on the ceramic wick mod! I can't wait to get some of this stuff to play around with. Did you pre-wrap the coil before putting it on the wick, or did you just wrap the coil around the wick?
