Hey man I didn't even start smoking till 2010 I still protested those laws. The whole idea of government dictating what legal activity can and cannot be allowed in a private business disturbs me.

And What do you think is Best Way to "Protest" these Laws?

As a person who has proven allergies to some of the flavoring components (citrus, I love it, it hates me since childhood), I can appreciate a ban on vaping, particularly in public, at doorways, etc.

It sucks needing to check everything I eat or breathe for citrus components, alas having gone into anaphylactic shock twice over a little bit of citrus, I am not taking the chance :) My wife has had to get rid of one juice already because it caused me some minor grief.

That being said, since smokers (I have watched this for decades) are already upset when bans/restrictions take place, they would look at someone else being able to enjoy their nicotine, while they are left without, as an affront, I think they would be right.

This even means that I will not take out my no-nic in a restaurant or theater, etc. because I do not know what someone else's allergies may be, nor do I know who will get upset because I am allowed my vice and they are not, certainly nobody is going to come up and ask me if I have no0nic or not, they are going to assume I am bending the rules.

You Stopped going Out to Dinner because you Couldn't Smoke in a Restaurant?

Man, that Must kinda Suck.

When did anyone say freedom was easy?

I also refuse to open a retail business while the government tells me I have to step 15' away from my door to smoke. What next, nicotine testing for employment? Oh, wait...

Hear you on the allergy thing but the above makes no sense. They aren't being deprived of their nicotine, only their delivery method. They are welcome to get their nicotine through gum or patches or if allowed, vapor. To be mad because they can't smoke where others can also not smoke is sheer pettiness.

The heck with smoking... Obesity is right there if not ahead of killing people. I would love to see them regulate fatness at work and in the public. That would be a hoot to watch.

Some employers have. Though there is no regulation other than being allowed to charge a higher insurance premium.

Wow... Sounds like Smoking is Really Holding you Back.

Ever thought about Quitting? It might Solve some of Your Problems.

I have quit or maybe you didn't notice. Or maybe what others say about you is true, it sure does sound like it.
Seems to me it's other people holding me back because I won't do as I'm told by people who have no right to tell me what to do.

Quitting got me diagnosed with IBD so running a retail shop without an employee would still be difficult.

I've seen it already.

Didn't sound from your Posts that you had Quit. Good to hear that you have.

BTW - What is IBD?

I'm sorry if I tick anyone off but I really don't mind if establishments don't want me vaping inside. I agree that people don't understand it and give it a bad rap because of that but people are still entitled to not wanting to be around it. If people fight this and/or ignore it, its just going to make it worse for everyone. Please vape outside or in your personal space or if an establishment doesn't mind, go ahead.

While I Am not going to argue that point, I watched many a smoker get bent out of shape over while eating in restaurants recently.

They do not seem able to separate the delivery method from the substance.

I have friends who are long time smokers and refuse to even consider vaping because they have been smoking so long, and I know they are among the people who gripe needlessly. some people just need to get their gripe on to feel good.

Did the quit counter throw you off? Almost 2 years without a cigarette.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Smoking helps Ulcerative Colitis, and I mean smoking. Nicotine helps but only in conjunction with drugs.

There are many regulation based on a persons weight, and just as many of those are illogical in some cases as laws/regulations/policies are which ban vaping outright.

Not all obesity is caused by over eating, eating poorly, etc. yet all obese people get the same treatment from such restrictions.

Regulation by government is seldom the one true solution(tm), it has always been, and will continue to be based on who has the money and time to have their case presented to legislators in a way that gives them "authority" to pass a law.

This includes outright bans on tobacco, a business should be able to determine for themselves if they want smoking inside their business or not, and it should be plainly posted so that people who have legitimate medical or personal preferences against smoking can avoid places where it is allowed.

Being able to vape indoors should be used as an enticement to get people to try it. MANY people start vaping so they don't have to go out in the cold. I was one of them. So allowing vaping where smoking is not allowed accomplishes a few things -

- it's an enticement to try it to avoid going outside.

- it validates our quit

- it distinguishes vaping from smoking. A distinction that lots of people can't seem to grasp.

That said, I don't actually need or want to (EDIT: vape, not smoke) in a restaurant. It's silly not to allow it in bars though and certainly Utah and LA and other places that banned it outdoors are off the rails.
