The in n out burger in vegas had NO vaping signs in the dining room. Made me sad
Lol cmon guys. It's ppl's businesses lol. They gotta do whats best to keep it alive, Vapors can & will scare customers away from them. Vaping is still in infant form to the world. Im just surprised alot of vapors feel very entitled to do it anywhere they please & disregard respecting companies & businesses. Not a good look for the community. my $0.02
Taking analogs out of the subject, and just leave it with just the vaping issue.
I believe a company has the rights to have a leeway over what and how their company should be ran. They have the right to require certain dress codes, and ethic codes to match the clientele they want to attract. some things that might come into consideration are:
Shirts, shoes, smoking, vaping, skateboarding, age, Formal wear only, casual attire only, no blue jeans, etc...
Things like these have no issue on whether or not it's legal to do those things, it's whether or not they want that sort of clientele in their place of business. The company I work REQUIRES for employment: Belts, no facial hair, no excessive jewelry, no visible tattoos, no gagues, one ear ring per ear for women, no hair touching the collar for men etc. It's not unlawful to do any of these, but it's required to work there because they want to project a certain image.
Same principle applies to their customers, shirts and shoes are required to shop there. No loitering, no advertising, no pan handling, etc. It's their right to have a standard about how they want to conduct business.
It is your right to decide not to shop or do business with them as well. That is what free market is all about, and I am all for it. If I ever were to own a business, I would allow vapers in, but allow smokers only outside. It would be my right as a business owner. I may not like other people's policies, but that doesn't mean I don't think they have the right to want their own standards.
my 2 cents worth.
This whole argument baffles me...if as a vaper your have to the right to vape in public why wouldn't a property owner have the right to ban vaping on private property?
It is your choice whether or not to go to that establishment, if their policies offend you then don't give them your money...simple enough. Rights are a two way street.
Well, they're on private property, so they can do whatever they please.
I think inconsiderate vapers are responsible for things like this, just as inconsiderate cell phone users and inconsiderate parents are responsible for signs asking people not to use cell phones or not allowing children in their establishments. If people were respectful of those around them none of these things would be happening.
We all ask others to respect our rights, but do we respect theirs?
I wonder if anyone has tried holding up their vaping rig in front of a business's manager and point to the tank, saying, "It's my personal vaporizer, and that's Albuterol Sulfate. It's so I can stay alive rather than dying from asphyxia."
No, I wouldn't lie to anyone about my vaping. My overblown sense of principle wouldn't allow it. But I'd be very surprised if no one else had ever done that with a tank of clear-colored Faux Hawk or CoolMist, for example.
Well, I must disagree. I do not think THIS particular sign was created because of 'inconsiderate vapers' vaping INSIDE, since it 'forbids' vapers from vaping OUTSIDE, within 50ft of sidewalk around the entrance, which the business probably does not even OWN.
I believe rampant anti-smoking, or rather, rampant anti-'anything-vaguely-resembling-smoking' was the cause of that sign. Let's just treat vaping like smoking, even if we do not own that outdoor space, even if no ordinance forbids people from VAPING outside.
"Let's just make up our OWN laws, because we DO NOT LIKE it, and we will be supported because many people DO NOT LIKE it either."
And to be clear, I only vape INSIDE with the owner's permission. I know it's not smoke, but other people may not, and be troubled, and all that. OUTSIDE, I will vape ANYWHERE. Even if I was smoking TOBACCo, there's NO way I would be 'ruining other people's health'. Vaping is magnitudes safer. So, that's why that sign makes me sick: it demands that people should not vape (magnitudes safer than tobacco) even OUTSIDE (where even TOBACCO would NOT pose a real threat to others).
This is not about 'health concerns'. This is ideology and segregation. "I do not WANT you to vape near me, in a PUBLIC space".
