I'm sorry, I don't get the problem,,,,,,their property, their rules. IF, however, less than 50 feet puts you on PUBLIC property, then I don't see how they can enforce it,,,,,

I'd also like to know how they enforce the fine.

The sign is a deterrent, that's it. Years ago I worked at a place that had a sign saying a security system with cameras was in use on the property. That security system cost $3- the price of the sign...

I'm say'n that it is Hard Enough to get People to do Something, Anything, without telling people that it Doesn't Matter.

Look at this Thread. A over 150 Posts about a Sign Posted at a Chilies. But did Anyone Actually call the Chilies to Find out if it was Real? I posted the Phones Numbers Twice.

I wonder how Likely it is to Get Someone to Sign a Petition or e-Mail their Rep when it's Hard to get someone to Pick Up their phone and Dial a Number?

Especially when you have a Person/Persons say'n that it Doesn't Matter what they do Anyway.

Internet petitions generally don't work. They do however make people think they're doing something so they don't bother doing anything else, as you said it's hard enough to get people to do something.

Why would I call Chili's in FL? It's their businesses and one they know I'd never be to anyway so boycotting them doesn't really matter. I was at a local and the vaper manager told me no. I found out it's not company policy so I just won't go back to that location. My nephew's restaurant allows vaping, guess where I'll go. It's their business, it's my money.
It's like Starbucks, guns and vaping (and overpriced coffee, harassing guide dogs, etc.), I don't spend money there.

I don't think the OP knew the can of worms he was opening when starting this thread. lmao
There's gonna be lots more similar signs popping up. The biggest thing I think any of us have going for us is education in vaping. The more people understand about what it really is the less likely they are going to be so against it. It's not all necessarily about negativity or ANTZ.
It' about image, perception, going with the flow and imo, mostly ignorance.

I would just Think that a Person would want to Know if what they Posted in a Thread like this Actually Pertained to something Real?

Because if that Sign Isn't hanging in the Door of a Chilies in Bradenton, FL. isn't much of what is Posted in this Thread Irrelevant?

HI!!! I will have to give them a try!!!

And to everyone who must have missed my original post... There is no Ordinance in Bradenton Banning e-cigs.
That being said, I respect the right of a business to not permit vaping.
I do not like the sign because 1~ it is a lie, they cannot fine you. 2~ I find the terminology bullyish and rude.
It could have been posted in a more polite manner and without the threat of a fine which they cannot impose and the city would not.

thank you for taking your business,,,,,,and your gun,,,,,,elsewhere.

I truly wish I could be as narrow minded as you and simply say that I am glad to leave you and your kind (sheeple) to hang out freely in your chosen victim zone and all that comes with it, but alas I am not that narrow minded.

In the UK they're all over the place, they look a bit like this one and they're usually even bigger than the no smoking sign...

Better get used to it, ......ed governments of the world keep getting their own way

I want an e-cig in which smoke comes out the cap end. LOL

Sorry I just notice the strangest things. :p

Because that's not on the premises. If that site entrance is on a public street they have no right no make a claim to what is allowable public behavior within 50 feet of their entrance, unless an ordinance was passed prohibiting that specific behavior within a specific distance to the entrance of a business. Short version: You can't make up rules like that, just because you feel like it.

To the OP, do you know if anything of the sort was passed regarding prohibiting vaping near the entrance of a business?

Why don't you go and stand 49 feet away from that sign and vape, and let us know if anything happens or not...:D

I would love to do just that!

Inside their business: their business.

Outside their business (on PUBLIC property): MY business! (subject to actual law/ordinance)

And yeah, they're just being bossy, [w]itchy fanatical control-freak a-holes. And LIARS. (Actually threatening "fines", grrrrr )

Vaping isn't a god given right, and I've seen some folks in the wild being very obnoxious with their "clouds". This should come as a surprise to no one. I have absolutely no issue with a business stating that e-cigs are not allowed.

Actually it IS a God given right until some governing body decides otherwise. In a FREE country, everything is a God given right. Governments only choose which ones you get to keep.

I'm all for the business owners deciding if vaping, or even smoking, is allowed. It's them who have to pay their bills at the end of the month after all...<snip>

I agree with this 100%. I have absolutely no problem whatsoever if the owner of the establishment made the decision based on his or own personal reasons, valid to me or not. If they do not allow it in their establishment and I want to be there, I will respect their wishes.

I DO have a problem with the government telling a business owner that he or she MUST do it their way.
