I started briefly on pg based juices, refilling the cartos I got from the kit I purchased at the corner store. Luckily I found ecf, and from my research here realized that maybe I was a bit sensitive to pg. I almost quit vaping at the start because of it.

I actually found a local vendor and explained my issues with pg and it turns out he only mixes with 100% vg, except whats pg in flavorings. He started me on the vg road and now im starting to diy and having decent results with it so far.

I thought something was wrong with me when i used pg juice at first. It did make me cough more but oddly within 10 mins or so after vaping it I got massive headaches. It wasnt my nic lvl either because I even had some zero nic pg I ordered and I had the same issues with that.

I really feel that after 25 years of smoking I actually found something I enjoy more than cigarettes... and I LOVED to smoke. The biggest reason I like vaping... Im in control of what I put in my body. I can make it right for me, my nic addiction, my wallet, and my taste preferences. Im already down from 18mg juice to 12-14mg in under two months time and hoping to get to zero, but continue vaping for enjoyment.

I am an all vg guy, and for those that really feel they need to make a switch, try it. Jump in with both feet for awhile. Once you have the wicking issues tackled with your own juices and equipment... which was mega hard for me to do... then you will be fine. I get tons of vapor, good flavor, and nothings missing as far as im concerned.

vape on!

Ive been buying vg and vg with nic from wizard labs. very happy with it. bogs depending on your equipment you may need to add some distilled water. i find that my ego-c tanks will dry hit horribly unless my vg content is under 70% and even then i have to primer hit every now and then. now on my 510-t I can use 85% vg just fine. I love the ease of tanks but dry hits were killing me for awhile.

2nd time I've heard great things about wizard labs!

Haven't opened the bottle yet but got 250ml of 100mg VG from them yesterday. *Very* well packed - four layers of bubble wrap and two heat-sealed bags - I think I paid $33 out the door for the nic. They upgraded me to priority mail (ordered on Saturday, arrived on Wednesday) plus they gave me a present - a couple of disposable pipettes and about 4ml of one of their concentrated flavorings.

I'll report on the nic this weekend when I open up the mad scientist lab but so far I'm impressed.

I did post a positive review on wizard over in the positive feedback on suppliers forum. My last order was under $30 but John at wizard answered every question and jumped thru hoops to make sure I got everything I had been looking for. And the quality imo is very good. The packaging is crazy... lol.

sorry not to derail but back tp VG. So here is my question... Is there a definitive answer as to what the final percentage of vg should be when using juices in tanks like the ego-c or ego-t? Ive found under 70% works better but Im still having issues now and then. I thin with whatever flavoring and dw to get below 70%. I avoid pga.

Is there a general rule of thumb im missing?

Should we have some all vg recipes in thread?

I don't own any tanks, but 70-80% VG has caused me no problems in Iturbos or Fluxomizers, which according to some are sensitive to hard to wick juices. Just go as high as you want, and if you start getting dry hits, add a touch of diluent. A little bit goes a LONG way as you probably know already.

I've been using 100% VG since I started vaping on 10-10-10.

I only had a hot pocket of nicotine the very first bottle of juice I made. It was 60 mg strength reduced to 15 mg. I must have gotten a drop of the 60mg because the room was spinning and I felt drunk:)

After that, I shake my bottles vigorously. I don't fill them up all the way and leave head room for shaking to work.

I'm currently using 6 mg juices now and I carry little samples from VaporsEtc in my purse for my 911 situations. Those samples were 18 mg and PG/VG blend and gosh! That PG hits my throat so ferociously! I'm so used to the gentle feeling of VG.

It makes my day to see people discover all-VG! Way to go, vape on! It really looks like most people who try it, and use a little water to thin it to their equipment's needs, prefer VG. I suspect that in time PG may just be a memory. We may discover other carriers, but VG seems very benign, and tastes good too. I ordered some dipropylene glycol just to try, but so far it just tastes too blechh to go far with it. It doesn't have even PG's level of sweetness, just the blechh.

We'll all be examining options. Who knows, we may stumble onto something even better than either VG or PG.

But there's nothing so far that appears safer and tastes better than 100% VG with a little (e.g. 1 drop/ml, 5%) water. As long as we remember that if we burn it (above 536 degrees F, i.e. 280 deg C), it can release some acrolein. The good news is that 1) tests show that in normal atomizers this temp is never reached, 2) acrolein has never been detected in atomizer tests, and 3) that even in the most minute amounts, Acrolein is the most unmistakably foul roofing tar burned grease taste you can imagine (I know), no danger of not noticing it in a vape. Small amounts of Acrolein are formed in burning tobacco by the high temp. It's good sense to remember that 280 deg C limit. I sure don't see that as a reason to vape PG.

Other than keeping flavoring to a minimum that still gives good taste, the other great idea to emerge is to keep a high nic carto for emergencies, but otherwise use as low a nic level as practical. It was interesting to see the Surgeon General report that smokers who cut way down to just a few cigs still showed bad cardios, while those who switched to nicotine substitution had as good a cardiovascular profile as those who quit completely. They find that "components of tobacco smoke other than nicotine are responsible for impaired coronary blood flow." Still, why not keep the risk as low as possible? A lot of people surprisingly seem to find 6-8mg a good amount. Vape on!

Make that the 3rd time now

Like wizard10000 said the packaging for shipment is extreme. Double bubble wrap + double heat sealed bags. Like someone else said it's packaged like it could be dropped from an airplane and still be undamaged. Everyone gets a free gift, mine was the same as wizards (disposable pipettes and about 4ml of one of their concentrated flavorings).

I got the 100mg Nicotine solution - 500ml for $56.99 (30PG/70VG) + a dozen flavors + measuring equipment. Very fast and high quality.
$65+ = FREE Shipping

Back on track. Now you have me trying the high VG mix. If this keeps it from drying my throat out I'll be using it from now on. Thanks for sharing your experience, and knowledge.

Yesterday I told my brother I quit smoking and was vaping now. Today he wanted me to send him info. about what to buy and from where so I did and I know he'll be vaping soon too. Next I guess I'll get him on the VG bandwagon if it works out for a few days for me.

......

I am using RTS Vapes nicotine in 100% vg. Very clean - no odor and crystal clear and American made. Not the cheapest but I like it and have no plans to move off of this stuff.

Now that I am not using pg my acid stomach issues have disappeared. The joint aches are gone too. I do get a bit of pg in flavorings but it is such a small amount it seems to be not causing any side effects.

I just want to keep this thread alive and kicking. To be honest, if I had not found out that it was the pg causing me all of the nasty health issues I would be huffing stink sticks again, for sure. At least I did not feel sick when I smoked. The pg had me in a bad way.

One side effect of vaping vg I have noticed is I have a bit of phlegm and my lungs feel a bit "heavy" but I don't have a cough. Heck, I did not have a cough when I smoked cigs and that was for 35+ years at a PAD. But I can deal with this side effect knowing I am not inhaling a witches brew of cancer causing nasties.

Anyone have a "fix" for the heavy lung feel? For that matter anyone else experience this?
I don't have the "fix" but I get it too sometimes...
Before vaping, I started coughing up a lung all day every day about a year ago (after smoking over 43 years ...) when I had a cold/sinus infection/ bronchitis...so the switch to vaping this past February. Within a few weeks I stopped coughing up a lung...in fact...No more coughing every day at all :)
With regard to some phlegm, same here when I'm chain vaping...which I do while sitting here at my computer reading ECF :vapor: LOL I do have to remember to drink LOTS of water which helps for some reason. When I go off to work I take vape breaks just like my smoke breaks used to be, but only have 5 minutes so I only have chain vaping issues on my day off when I'm sitting around here. I never get a nicotine buzz like some people mention, so I must not be getting as much nic as when I smoked analogs. [I use mainly 18 mg VG juices, which as someone mentioned have some PG because of flavorings.] I have sinus issues such as allergies in general, which is why I have drainage and thus the chest congestion sometimes, so not sure if it's really is from my vaping.
I'm just glad I found vaping & stopped the 1 - 2 PAD habit of analogs.

I use visions, sapphires, stardusts and vornados with my mostly VG juices, depending on the situation. Each has pros and cons, but they do work. I usually have to thin out a bit - I use distilled water.

Using more than about 10% PG makes me cough - can't take the throat hit. Guess 40+ years of smoking does that to you!

Hello all - I just wanted to update my post - seems so long ago now! I actually use more PG now. I seem to have raised my tolerance level to PG slowly over time, by adding increasing levels to my DYI efforts.

But I also wanted to say that my remaining visions, sapphires, and vornados sit in the drawer, in favor of my ever dependable stardusts and my new v2.5 vivi nova. Both work well with diluted VG.

Thanks for all the info here.

I just mixed up 3 diffrent batches/flavours of 100% VG 0mg nic. And what I have noticed is that I have to add about 10% -15% more flavour to the mixes due to the 100% VG, I use to doe 60%/40% PG VG.

I have one question, we do not have PGA in South Africa, but I have a bottle of ethanol, can I use the ethanol in the place of PGA???

Thanks

***Oh Snap!*** harsh man lol

2%-5% extra is correct for 100% VG. I vape mostly 70%-80%VG & 1%-3% more than a high PG mix is plenty nuff flavor.
& 0mg nic?! WTH kinda flavor repellant VG you using?!!!

Edit- As regards the ethanol......I'm not gonna say yes or no, just that theoretically if it's pure ethanol or just an ethanol/water mix then that may be feasible...... BUT... if there are additives in it to deter drinking it (& there usually are), then maybe it wouldn't be a very good idea.....
