::::flinch::::: ;)

***Oh Snap!*** harsh man lol

2%-5% extra is correct for 100% VG. I vape mostly 70%-80%VG & 1%-3% more than a high PG mix is plenty nuff flavor.
& 0mg nic?! WTH kinda flavor repellant VG you using?!!!

Edit- As regards the ethanol......I'm not gonna say yes or no, just that theoretically if it's pure ethanol or just an ethanol/water mix then that may be feasible...... BUT... if there are additives in it to deter drinking it (& there usually are), then maybe it wouldn't be a very good idea.....

I should have added a smiley. :)

Once again IMMHO... Once rumours take root they are extremely hard to quash. e.g that VG mutes flavours to the tune of what was mentioned here, or that the only thing that provides TH is nicotine, or to increase TH add PGA or some other type of irritant as in capsaicin. I called the latter irritants because to me they give a scratchy feeling rather than the thump we expect. A properly mixed liquid will deliver without irritation, even as low as 4mg and 100% (properly diluted) VG.

Maybe I have not explained myself correctly, what I meant was. If my flavor was at 3% then + 10% - 15% would be between 3.3% and 3.45% but you are telling me if it was 3% in a PG VG mix I must up it to 5% or 6%. I understand now thanks.

And no the ethanol is pure, before they add the bitters, I know someone that produce it from the farm from maize.

Sweet. Pure ethanol! mmmmmmmmm..........Gotta get me some o' that! :p

That should be cool then. Just remember alco has about twice the thinning power of water so don't over-do it. Stay under 10% to thin your VG & you'll be good.
Alcohol in the vape can be harsh for some people tho so go easy at first. Like Switched said it can be more of a "scratchy" effect rather than TH, just like capsaicin.

Course, this demon loves to eat a LOT of hot peppers, so that effect is actually quite welcome in some of my mixes  lol

Oh yeah, didn't mean to give the impression you HAVE to add 1%-3% more flavoring just cuz you're using high VG.
That's just what seems to be best for ME & it'll depend on what brand of flavoring you're using & what your personal tastes are.
0.3% to 0.45% may very well be all the extra YOU need!
If it tastes awesome to you, then it's the correct amount :)

I've tried adding various amounts of ethanol, and above a few drops per 10ml it makes the juice unpleasant, hard to describe, but not nice. Try it, it won't kill you, but you'll see. Adding more than a few drops of water also makes the juice worse, it loses flavor and vapor. I use like 5 little drops of ethanol and 3-4 drops of distilled water per 10ml. That's just enough to make the VG flow better and not spoil it. As to PG, it does boost the flavoring, but seeing as PG itself tastes like a toxic waste dump, it's just not on my menu. I guess people who only vape a little don't mind as much.

I've diluted with 10% PGA and 12% water and not noticed any drop in vapor or flavor, in fact I think the PGA boosts flavor quite a bit. That said I don't know how safe PGA is or isn't to vape, or in what quantities, and I'm sure that no one knows.

My go to for systems that have 'sensitive' wicking is Kurt's formula: flavor + DW + PGA + PG = 22% (not when dripping, then thinning is a moot point IMO).

I also drop the PG part of the formula, because to me it barely thins compared to DW, let alone PGA. And 99% of my flavorings are PGA based anyway.

But admittedly PGA does seem to bring some "PG notes" back into the mix (PG has an alcohol note to it, to me anyway) so if you don't enjoy that, ...

Hi I switched to 100% Vg and Organic Flavorings.

I've been vaping for 3 years and at around year 2 I developed a PG allery and didn't realize it.

Severe mouth irritation, also it reacted with my fillings causing me to go to the dentist and nearly have a tooth extracted.

By the way my allergies didn't go away until I switched to 100% Vg Juice and Organic Flavorings. Organic Flavor do not contain any PG or artificial chemicals.

I've found DIY to be very easy with 100% Vg once I switched to Wizard Labs. I was using RTS and their liquid is more Viscous. With Wizard, I take 6ml of Organic Flavoring throw it into a 30ml bottle and than fill up with VG. The resulting liquid is perfect in consistency and doesn't have to be thinned.

Never ran into Pockets. I do find that 100% VG liquids last much longer. Also I'm not sure if it's the atomizers that I use but I find that they taste burnt at higher voltages. For example I vape on a 2.40hm at 3.7 and it's ideal with the max I can go around 4.1

I almost quit vaping due to my allergy to PG and the artificial chemicals they use in the flavorings.

Thanks for all the info here.

I just mixed up 3 diffrent batches/flavours of 100% VG 0mg nic. And what I have noticed is that I have to add about 10% -15% more flavour to the mixes due to the 100% VG, I use to doe 60%/40% PG VG.

I have one question, we do not have PGA in South Africa, but I have a bottle of ethanol, can I use the ethanol in the place of PGA???

Thanks

Hi Jo GSA, I'm also from South Africa. I just use 10% - 15% distilled water from a pharmacy to dilute my VG. Anyway, where do you get your PG, VG and Nic from. I've imported from HealthCabin, and my flavours from FA. Have you found someone locally that can supply VG and Nic?

On another note, I'm also a VG convert! ;)

Debb +1 for what AZ said

It helps to take a product code number off the stores website, or go in with your smart phone (if you have one) browser on the page of the product listing in the relevant store, e.g. walmart

If you walk in and ask for glycerin they'll look at you like you're nuts :)

My first attempt to buy glycerin was at Walmart and the associate said "you mean for a suppository?" ....and I said "no, to make my electronic cigarette nicotine juices..." and yup, I got that look like I was from another planet and nuts!

So I've been reading lots of threads here to learn and start my DIY adventure and I came upon this one. I find myself wanting more and more to switch to all VG so I was looking for VG today and came across this from Essential Depot, 2gal of VG for 45.95 with free shipping http://www.essentialdepot.com/servlet/the-Glycerin-USP-Kosher-Vegetable/Categories
if anyone is interested, kind of sounds like a good deal.

It is a good deal and some folks are vary happy with the product while others are not. It always pays to sample small quantities before buying in bulk, all taste buds are not created equal, even with VG, PG or nic.

Hi Taz and AzPlumber- I just got a QUART of Essential Depot VG-- a quart is a lot- a lot more than I thought it would be! I seem to like it very well- nice or no taste- but it's very thick. I feel like I've got it all over my hands, my mod and my keyboard. Az, why do some people not like it? It's my first VG product, so I really don't have anything to compare it with.

We are all unique including our taste buds, what taste ok to some will not to others. Some have reported an off or chemical or even a perfume taste, but that is true with all VG's. If you can vape it plain without detecting any taste then it should work fine for your DIY.
