I tried Now brand before I switched to Essential Depot, and it was NOT for me. It had a perfumey flavor I didn't care for one bit and is a great moisturizer :)

That's interesting - I haven't noticed any odd flavor. Oh, well - everybody's taste buds are different ;)

I know right? Lots of folks mentioned the brand and like it, which is what made me pull the trigger on it in the first place. I vaped, gagged, thought what the...?! It was a tried and true recipe for me....vaped some of the vg straight and had my answer. I was going to pitch it...no way I could ever vape it ( I'd smoke first...it was that bad!) but decided to try it after a shower as a moisturizer and it's great ;)

It led me to E.D. though, and that, for me is perfection so I'm grateful lol!

My DIYs are VG. PG does nasty things to my mouth, throat, lungs and gut. PG will make my sleep apnea much worse. PG content higher than 10% flavoring (probably around 6% PG) will cause problems for me.

My DIYs are generally %water + %flavor = ~22%. The rest is nic and VG. This formulation is perfect for cartos and tanks, since it wicks well. Unthinned VG juices, however, are very nice for dripping. Most of my high-nic is unthinned VG, but some vendors do thin their unflavored VG-nic with water, so that changes the mixing equation a bit.

I think the enhanced TH of PG is just low-level drying and irritation. I want my TH to be from nic only, since its is how I gauge my vaping. Thinning will open the nic up, essentially making smaller vapor droplets, and making the nic more topically available.

Some people thin their VG juices with about 5% PGA. Not a fan, myself, since inhaled alcohol does in fact go right to the brain. Not at all surprised PG will do similar things, since it is more like ethanol than VG is. PGA (actually I used 100 proof vodka) also dries me out like PG does.

VG can cause some mucus production. Nothing is without side effects. I am not aware this is a problem, but it does happen.

Nature's Flavors and Lorann Naturals are both PG-free flavorings. Not tried the Nature's Flavors, but I do like the Lorann Natural Creamy Caramel a lot. I also like unflavored juice.

My VG is primarily NOW brand. Not had any residual flavor from it at all. CVS brand is glycerin, which is PROBABLY made from palm oil, and thus VG, but doesn't have to be. It could be made from beef or pork fat. Its fine in a pinch, but I have found the taste of the plastic bottle can sometimes be present. Not had that with NOW brand, that I detect, anyway. And while the fact that NOW is from organic palm has little to no bearing on the glycerin itself, it does speak to a more thoughtful way of producing it. Heritage brand VG from Whole Foods is also very good VG. Pricey though.

I use visions, sapphires, stardusts and vornados with my mostly VG juices, depending on the situation. Each has pros and cons, but they do work. I usually have to thin out a bit - I use distilled water.

Using more than about 10% PG makes me cough - can't take the throat hit. Guess 40+ years of smoking does that to you!

First thanks Fernand and others for the tips on VG.
I am too on 100%VG for the past 2 months. Like it, but still struggling with the right % flavouring, although like the rule: 20 drops total of flavouring max on 10 ml.
And of course I am dripping with bridgeless atty, but I have't find yet a good "tank" type hardware for 100% VG. Any suggestion; like stardust, visions, some other cleromizer?
So far only one surprisingly works for me (but still need more testing), vision's stretch 1.3 ml.

Sorry...I mentioned Essential Depot in the prior post, thought it was safe to abbreviate ;)
As for the Now brand, don't go by me! As has been mentioned, many have used it and love it. I taste perfume. Essential Depot has no flavor or smell for me, but it's very thick and sweet. Great vendor too. Two gallons gets you free shipping, great prices, and they ship fast. I do not work for, nor am I affiliated with them Just a very happy repeat customer :)

I am using Heritage Store brand Vegetable Glycerin my girlfriend picked up for me at a Sprouts store which is a grocery store that is kinda granola but pretty cool. It seems to work great but I am a serious noob without much of a basis for comparison. This VG has no odor I can detect and is thick and sweet tasting. It does have the Nutrition Facts on the back of the label so I suppose it is an "official" food product.

I am using RTS Vapes nicotine in 100% vg. Very clean - no odor and crystal clear and American made. Not the cheapest but I like it and have no plans to move off of this stuff.

Now that I am not using pg my acid stomach issues have disappeared. The joint aches are gone too. I do get a bit of pg in flavorings but it is such a small amount it seems to be not causing any side effects.

I just want to keep this thread alive and kicking. To be honest, if I had not found out that it was the pg causing me all of the nasty health issues I would be huffing stink sticks again, for sure. At least I did not feel sick when I smoked. The pg had me in a bad way.

One side effect of vaping vg I have noticed is I have a bit of phlegm and my lungs feel a bit "heavy" but I don't have a cough. Heck, I did not have a cough when I smoked cigs and that was for 35+ years at a PAD. But I can deal with this side effect knowing I am not inhaling a witches brew of cancer causing nasties.

Anyone have a "fix" for the heavy lung feel? For that matter anyone else experience this?

An increase in water intake will help with the phlegm issue. I've never been much of a water drinker until after I started vaping. When I first started vaping, I had all kinds of drying issues but after going high vg and drinking at least 4 glasses a day I feel much better. It's easy for me to forget to drink water and when I do the dryness and iritation that brings on the phlegm starts back up.

I know the VG lung heaviness well; it seems to have gone away though, unless I have a very heavy vaping session/day

Not sure what it amounts to, but sometimes it worries me

But OTOH high PG irritates my airways as well, just in a different way

Or maybe its just heavy vaping and high nic and it has nothing to do with either lol

Good call AZ. I have a pretty physically demanding job and do drink a good amount of water while working but I stop once I get home. Sounds like I should remember to hydrate after work. My issue is there are so many tasty things to drink when I get home and yes, I am speaking of the adult beverages. Okay, more water for me.

Yes Cyrus, it worries me too at times. But compared to smoking I guess we are much better off, right? And the heavy lung feel is either diminishing over time a tad or I am becoming accustom to it. Hmm. But I will tell you this; I just quit smoking after 35+ years of a pad and have plans on giving up the vape any time soon. I mean come on, I am not applying for sainthood here.

That's pretty much my thoughts on it too. And like you said, its essentially gone away, except for when I vape heavy

And I know what you're saying about adult beverages all too well lol.

The combination of ETOH dehydrating you and ETOH disinhibiting you/masking irritation/pain killing --> heavier vaping is a recipe for some serious lung cramps lol

It makes sense that if you inhale massive quantities of glycerin aerosols, some of it will deposit in throat, trachea, lungs. Some will be absorbed, some will just thicken natural secretions that are coughed up as phlegm. It's perfectly natural, and the fact glycerin is completely soluble in water makes it disappear if you're adequately hydrated. I think the "heaviness" is when the amount of glycerin in secretions gets above a certain percentage. If i vape incredibly heavily, it's very noticeable. A hot shower with the steam loosens it up well. Frankly, I'm less worried about that than just about anything in our environment. If it's ever suggested that breathing glycerin mist causes metabolic changes that are harmful, I'll certainly consider the evidence carefully. Having switched to all-glycerin, i find I really notice the effects of different flavorings, how some are more cloying, others harsh, etc. I stick to what i can chain vape and doesn't make me feel tox'ed. It's going to be pretty subjective, once the main offenders like PG are down from 50-70% to tiny percentages.

For instance those "use at 2.5%" sper-concentrated Chinese alcohol-based flavorings just feel bad to me, i can't really say why, and I'm not sure if it's all of them, but i can't find a way to blend them that doesn't char my throat and lets me wake up feeling reasonably clear-lunged. I don't think it has anything to do with the minute amounts of alcohol. Maybe they use diketones, maybe it's that sweetener they use, no idea, and i hate to waste 12 bottles of flavoring, and the flavors are clever, but, drat, my body's telling me to skip 'em.

Another detail. Some people vape lightly, the way you'd smoke a few cigs a day, and they can go with high nicotine liquids, drenched in PG and flavored to the gills if they like that. But for those of use who REALLY vape, it's a more critical issue.

I was all ready to go then I got cold feet and ordered 500ML of 100mg nic lol

For my nic level that puts me at around 25% PG, which I'm fine with. Thin enough and wicks perfectly in my gear. I still like to experiment with upping the PG at times, so this kept that door open for me to go higher.
