I had the same airflow problem (too much) with the Pro. I do use an adapter with it. One day I screwed it on very tight. The airflow became way too tight. I unscrewed it a little and it became airier. Now I just adjust the airflow by how tight I screw it down. I don't know, works for me! My biggest complaint about it now is that it's a bit of a dry vape. I took one of the wicks out and that took care of the dryness but then it started leaking. I put half the wick back in (the wick that sits on top ) and the leaking stopped. Still just a tad too dry. But still one of the best all-in-ones I've tried. :2c:

It is frustrating to spend this much money and have to make mods to this tank! I agree.
I took a bit of plumbers tape and stuck it into one of the airholes, pushing it in with the tip of a toothpick.
That really helped the air draw ..... but..... for some reason the flavor isn't what I was expecting from this tank.
I have tried several different juices thinking maybe it was the juice. But even ecto, which is very bold flavored, comes through just
meh for me in my pro tank.
I looked at a lot of reviews this morning and see how all these people are loving this tank, and I just don't get it?
I like that it's glass and I can use the tank-destructive juices in it but for the price paid it should perform better.
It does give clouds of vapor, no burnt hits but where is the flavor?

glad to know im not imagining the flavor reduction! Yeah, ive also read about restricting air flow, but for the price of the protank, I didnt plan on having to make ANY modifications!
Ya know?

I've tried several different flavors in mine and the flavor is muted with all of them.
Have got ecto in it right now and ecto is very bold flavored and I am just not getting much flavor.
I fixed the draw by filling in one of the holes with plumbers tape. It is vaping well just lacks flavor which for the cost of the tank
is a disappointment.

Hm, that's interesting... I've got two Protanks loaded, one with Boba's and one with MBV Moo Juice and the flavor is exceptional on both. I drip a bridgeless a lot at home, so I'm accustomed to getting massive flavor. On the go, I'm finding the Protank is right on par with my eVods in that department. Flavor is definitely less intense than direct dripping, but nothing to complain about. The only modification I've made to my Protanks is swapping the two "flavor" wicks (can't remember who it was I saw that called them that lol) that rest on top of the coil with 4 strands of bamboo thread. I've been in the habit of doing that since I've been using the eVods, which use the exact same head assembly. No idea if it affects flavor, I just do it because it's easy to throw those wicks away and replace whenever I clean/dry burn instead of having to futz around with the silica ones as they tend to fall to pieces when you touch them.

Is Prime15 a VG-heavy juice? If so, you might consider removing one of the top "flavor wicks" from your Protank head... just pop the center pin out and they're resting right there on top. Might help with wicking action. Be warned though, if your juice is too thin, you might get gurgling or a little flooding. If you do, just put the wick back.

So there is hope that with a new head in my pro tank that I'll get better flavor? Hoping hoping hoping :-}

Hm, only thing I can figure is perhaps some flavors benefit from longer wicks (or more precisely, juice density in the wick where the coil fires). I tried two of my most strongly-flavored juices (Boba's and Fire In The Hole, a local hot cinnamon brew), and two of my more subtly-flavored juices (a JC Vanilla and a MBV Sweet Cream) side-by side in topcoil CE5's and Protanks. Aside from the additional warmth from the topcoils, I'm getting an identical flavor experience from both devices. I've also swapped some AVE Gorilla Juice from an eVod to a Protank with the same results.

One thing I've noticed with these eVod/Protank heads... They're fairly inconsistent with how many of the loose little "flavor" wicks that come pre-installed. Some heads have only 2, and others I've re-wicked have 3 or even 4 (though out of the two dozen or so heads I have, only two had this many)...

What other tanks are you using, madstabber?

It's definitely worth a shot, cocoa, and it shouldn't cost you much to try. The build quality on these heads is all over the map. Same as any other BCC, I imagine. I'm running one of my Protanks with SS mesh now, and I've already rebuilt all of my other replacement heads so I don't have any stock ones to compare with. I do know that the Protank with the stubby little SS mesh wick I made is leaps and bounds over everything flavor-wise. But that's not really going to help you unless you're an adventurous sort with the proper tools. :(

I really wish one of these clearo manufacturers would start using SS in their stock heads. I'm sure the cost would increase substantially, but considering the average lifespan of SS compared to silica I think people would be willing to pay the extra just for the increased flavor alone. I know I would.

thx retrox . All I have on hand are extra stock replacement coils for my protank. I've read posts of people using Evod replacement coils
in their Protanks with success. Maybe I'll order one and see if that will improve the flavor. I haven't wandered into rebuilding coils yet.
That's a bit out of my league without having someone sit and hold my hand throughout the process.
Still for the price of the protank, it should come with a decent coil to start with. I pretty much leave my protank sit and use my T3's or
vivi nova's instead b/c the flavor is better on both of them than in my ProTank at this point. Perhaps my view will change if I get
a better ProTank coil/head.

I just received a brand new protank and I assembled it and put it on my Zmax Sigelei Telescope and I got NO Vapor. The Zmax read 9.9 and some kind of horseshoe symbol. So I looked this up online and it said when you see 9.9 the protank head is fried. Soooo I put the other head on the protank that came with it and I got the same exact reading 9.9 with the horseshoe.
Now I am totally frustrated because I cannot use this brand new protank.
Anyone have any ideas what I could be doing wrong or now do I need more new heads?
Thank you so much in advance.

Have you tried the Pro tank on another device? Are you over tightening them?

Thank you for your reply. I tried the protank on all of my devices and nothing - no sounds of it working either. Everything nice and tight. Stuff like this only happens to me *lol*

Sounds like you got bad heads. I would contact the vendor you bought it from. They might help you out. I have 2 Pro tanks and I haven't had a problem yet other then a burnt hit every so often. But that only happens with one specific juice. I just lower the voltage for that one and I'm good. Good luck.

I don't think I care for the pro tank. I just got three of them from Virgin Vapors during their mothers day sale. I saved eight bucks altogether on three. First of all, when the air conditioning is on, the mouth piece is COLD. I find that off putting. They are very heavy. My arm gets tired, not kidding. On my painted ego-t battery, the tank doesn't fit with the "beauty skirt" on. The painted one, which I bought from My Freedom Smokes, might not be genuine Joye. On my black genuine Joye ego-T, it fits. Having vaped on it only for about three days, I find the draw fine and the vapor good, but there is a funny taste. If anybody wants to tell me to rinse it first, well yes, maybe, but I have never gotten this strange taste from a Kanger T3, Stardust or any other clearo. I will keep these for those plastic cracking legends, like Pluid (in case I can ever get any), atomic cinnamon and such.

ivape.net has a deal, 14.05 with coupon code ........, or 14.95 without. There's a 4 tank limit with a savings of $20. I have many protanks, 15 now actually, and the latest order I got I noticed some changes on the tank compared to some of my others, haven't noticed this before at least so I'll have to give my others another look. The differences I've noticed are that the tip is smaller, its really hard to tell but it is definitely smaller, the tip also isn't cold on touch like the previous version. Also the air rivets on the bottom aren't cut so big , so the light airy draw is still there, but not as bad as it was. Also I think the threads have been shortened somewhat, my latest 4 tighten onto my eVic like butter, and are nowhere near as wobbly in the connection. Oh and it overall feels lighter, I can weigh the two in a bit.

Ya know?

Yeah, I know how you feel. Unfortunately, its not like buying an appliance or anything that even after first use can be returned if its not 100% what you wanted/expected, although sometimes the price feels that way. Most places only exchange anything related to hygiene if its DOA, (rarely refund but just send a working replacement). So far I have been able to return batteries I did not like, for that reason, but anything else - if it works - I am stuck with, I understand the reason - it can't go back and resold to someone else and is not broken so can't be sent back for credit to the wholesaler or manufacturer.

This is why I try not to rush out and buy something because the majority raves about it or it becomes the next best 'have to have' but try to concentrate on what individual reviewers have to say about it. I am not looking, most times, for a reviewer to like or dislike it but a comment like 'airy draw' would have me steer clear of it. I have faith that few people buy just because it seems everyone else has and usually puts more time into reviews that say more then "I love it!". Give me one good review that talks about the things that are important to me even if I see no other posts about people buying it I usually will. Show me 1000 "can't wait for mine to arrive" or "I love it" posts that say nothing about why they cannot wait to get it or why the say they love it; substance in a review not total emotion are the ones that fly.

Of course reviews are often subjective too, and can only take you so far. Even if you think you have dialed it in there is the problem that sometimes once its out of the wrapper its disappointing and/or not what you expected or just does not make you happy from the first use.

So that leaves messing with what you have bought to get it your way so to make it useful to you you have to choice but to do things like stick toothpicks in hole. And there you are with the feeling that you should not have to fiddle with it to give you what you want after spending that much money one it.

If you don't mod it to make it usable, unfortunately, its joining a junk pile in your drawer, not getting used under any circumstances and your out the money without any use. To me it comes down to realizing that even though i tried not to buy something that would not work for me, better some ideas how to adjust it so the money is not entirely a loss.

This is where a local retailer comes in handy, if your local to have such. Some accessories are so badly pictured across the reviews you can really get a good look at those things that might tell you won't work for you. Video and text review (even with close ups) only go so far so its nice to be able to walk in a storefront and be able to look at it live, and hold it. I have done that and that alone has changed my mind on whether I was going to purchase or not; just looking does not mean you have to buy it there as some retailers mark up a great deal (not the case with my retailer but I know some of you are faced with that). In some cases my retailer has even had open ones to try - with the rest of your own set up.

But it just comes down to, no matter what you do your going to lay out money, and sometimes a hefty amount, for something that after first use you look at and pronounce "not for me and I won't use it again!" Changing that to "not for me and I won't use it again unless I can mod it in someway so I am happy with!" at least can give it a chance for life in the "accessories I like" box and hurt your pocketbook less.

Just like in this case. I didn't pre-order or jump right in with the 'can't wait to have it' and waited for what started being said other then 'got it today and love it' and started seeing more reviews that commented on the airy draw (good for some not for others) got me thinking that it was not for me. Then when I started seeing people having to come up with mod to overcome that airy draw I knew for sure it was not for me - I really hate an airy draw. So knowing that I did not buy it just to have to mod it. Just because its seems like one of those things no self respecting modder would not have in their accessories - I can still be a vapor and not have one :) and not have to mod it at that price.

Well I weighed one i just received and one I've had for a while and there was only a .01 difference. Today was quite chilly and the tips were a little cold at first, but felt fine after a vape. I couldn't notice any difference in sizes in cutouts, but the draw seems better regardless, just thought I'd fix my original post at the top of this page.

...and evidently ivape is sold out on that deal, third time I've seen it though.< reason edited
