I like the idea of the Protege but I really don't want to look like I have a piece of "equipment" in my hand. Sigh...

How about something like a Janty Stick 901 adaptor....I cartomize on both my protege and JS the JS is very stealth..doesn't look like "equipment" and I get decent vape ...

would a 510>901 adapter from altsmoke coupled with a 901 cart-zer adapter from vapor country = 510 chuck + cartzers ?

You don't need to go to that much trouble. Altsmoke will have the 510 -> cartomizer adapter available in a few days.

(But yes, what you have described will work.. there's a vid on here about it)

As you said, it does work. I'm using that setup on my Silver Bullet right now.

I just saw a post that Altsmoke will have the adapters tomorrow!

Hope I don't ruffle any feathers, but I think this is the appropriate place to post this.

The only thing I like about it is the concept. I have two from V4L (one's a manual), and two from Vapor Kings. They're all the same. There is almost NO vapor. I guess I'm spoiled with my Green Smoke (tons of vapor) but it's the tiniest plume (or none at all) when I exhale. I am just so disappointed with it.

I'm going to try Greencig, and if that doesn't do it I'm going to stick with my Green Smoke. The only thing I don't like about GS is that the throat hit is very weak. I hope I can find the best of both worlds.

Hi Jessa. On the contrary, I think it's great to see posts with an opposing point of view. That's how you get help, suggestions and ideas in case you're missing anything. I don't think they've made the perfect e-cig yet or we'd all be flocking to buy it! :)

One SURE thing I can say is that much of it is about the batteries -- specifically, the placement of the air holes. Without 'em, it's a maddeningly slow, tough draw, with little to show for it.

A long auto that's slotted will kick out a fine plume of vapor with a fresh cart. But I have another long auto and a short auto that just suck. Truly. Worthless draw. As a result, little vapor.

Notice I said 'fresh cart.' I won't claim vapor is terribly impressive with subsequent refills.

Flavors are okay, but it is DeKang juice. 'Nuff said. I'll be happy when some of our good U.S. supplier start packin their own juice in the carts. In the meantime, you gotta sift and sort till you find some decent ones. The vapor production varies with the flavors. I find that menthols have the best vapor production. (IMO.) That's lucky since those are my faves.

I will definitely allow that 510's have more vapor.

But I could not return to fiddling with them every half dozen hits....Changing batteries every 45 minutes. Uh-uh.

I'm not familiar with Green Smoke. What number/actual model is that? GreenCig are supposed to be quite nice, the "Rolls Royce" of carts, rather mild in the throat hit department but very long lasting. Don't give up.

I have to admit, I'm not overly impressed with the performance of batteries on the '808, and had they been the basis of my introduction to them, I might feel differently about the product.

I decided to go the passthrough route initially for economy, coupled with a Kensington battery pack for portability, and I couldn't be more pleased with the product. Vapor production may be slightly less than my 510 when it's at it's peak, but the flavor, quality, and consistency of the vape goes far beyond what I ever achieved with the 510.

Two key points here; "at it's peak" and "consistency". I was constanly fiddling with the 510, trying out different fillers, straw mods, and what have you, to get that peak performance.

Now, my "fiddling" is limited to refilling my working stock of cartomizers once a day. I still primarily use the passthrough, and the extra-long batteries are acceptible when I need to be "untethered". At some point I'll upgrade to a 5-volt mod, but I'll definitely be sticking with cartomizers.

I do love this battery..last at least 5x longer than my 510's were. Very frustrating!
I have also tried to vape a 6mg (vaporkings.com) and still finding to harsh and vapor going in but not out.. after I refill with e juice I am getting much better production I just preffer my 901 atty or green cig carto's (nhaler.com) with this battery
I have found it to be more consistant than my 901 battery.. do you all know you can use a 901 atty on your kr808 without an adapter or a carto? The most consistent vape ever you will get from a 901! Awesome stuff!
I also use green carts on my auto and manual batteries.. with the manual you need to use a staple mod or the adaptor from vaporcountry.. awesome awesome vapor and I refill these with Nhaler.com's HV juice or reg jices.. he has flavors to match almost all the carto flavors to allow easy refill and they are made in usa.. big plus for me.
He should have empties up on site tonight or tomorrow.. I am hoping to get a better experience with these!
Hope this helps you some Jessa!

My KR cartomizers spit super hot juice into my mouth through the little white end cap, anyone else had this happen? OUCH!! it hurts! I get a little wisp of vapor from the primer puff then zilch. I can feel the atomizers getting warm, and they make that weird loud hissing noise, but no flavor, no vapor!! I just don't get it..I sure wish I could get the magical experience everyone talks about from these cartomizers. I love the batts, and want to love the cartomizers also, but I'm frustrated. I keep trying...I've spent more time fussing over these than I do with my 3 piece pv's- they just take a second or two to top off, and I'm good to go! but with the KR cartomizers: searching for cart plugs and condoms, rinsing out the yucky harsh factory juice, blowing them out, waiting for them to dry, refilling with fresh juice, rolling them around to disperse the juice, dripping into the batt end, aligning the tube so I can see through it, clearing wayward juice out of the tube, recharging twice a day.. it seems like just as much hassle.

These cartoz were gifted to me, at first I thought maybe I just got some duds??? they couldn't all be duds, though!!

Wow, a lot of feedback! :D

JenJen, in order to get that amount I would end up coughing...on an 11mg. And that would be a rarity. On a normal draw, like needvapor, there would be vapor going in...but at the very most a little "puff" going out, no matter how I inhaled.

If I hadn't gotten a Green Smoke first, maybe I'd feel differently...but I grew accustomed to the huge amount of vapor (so similar to an analog) in that short period of time.

Oh and I'm sorry some of you are less than thrilled with the KR808 as well, but I am glad that I'm not crazy. ;)

Ive vaped on autos, manuals and passthrus using pretty much all flavors of carts I can get my hands on.

If you aren't getting vapor, then something is wrong, either with what you are doing, or with your equipment.

Outside of my raspberry carts, I get awesome vapor from my stuff.

I just got a "virginia" cart from V4L that is nearly vaporless, but throat hit out of this world. So far it's the only one ive gotten from *anyone* that didnt produce clouds of vapor, as my cartomizer and battery reviews show. Something grieveously wrong somewhere I'd say, thats just not an issue ive ever had with a KR808D-1 even with funky offbrand cartomizers.

careful with the 5V..tried that with not what I'd call unlimited success. People dont realize that the typical passthrough doesnt actually deliver on its 5v promise at the atty.

First there's that teenie cord (this is intentional) that drops voltage and amperage available to the atty. This is Chinese cheap and dirty voltage regulation at it's finest...remember passthroughs were designed as a "battery replacement"...their goal was to deliver 3.7-4.2v at the atty under a load. Because the voltage source is constant..they dont fall on their .... like the typical battery does so you actually get more like 4.4v out of the better passthroughs at the atty.

When you throw on a pair of 123a batts, you discover that 6v is a cartomizer killer. When you then decide to throttle those two down to 5v..you *still* have a cartomizer killer unless its sopping wet all the time. once it gets about half vaped, its in danger again.

Honestly, 3.7 from a nice high amperage batt like an 18650 works best..beyond that and cartomizers start gettin sacrificed at the vaping altar.

I know, I don't get it either. Granted, vapor is not my first priority but I do get quite a lot from my KR, especially with the 0 nic or low nic cartos. It's a puzzler...

Wormwood just posted this video and I noticed that the amount of vapor he is getting in this is about what I get pretty consistantly. Do you get less then this and need more?

YouTube - My computer desk V4L setup

Yeah, that's about how much I get with a fresh 380mah batt. It's just not very satisfying when you've got a batt mod churning out plumes of vapor... Still, i like their practicality, and will pick up one of those 510 adapters to try. I'd rather wait than buy the 510>901>carto adapters.

Terrific post. I actually came on here today looking for info on the KR808D-1, as I received mine last Friday and found myself loving the clean flavor, but disappointed with the lack of vapor. Throat hit also seemed dismal. The only way I could get a nice hit was if I inhaled directly into my lungs..which is an uncomfortable technique for me.

However, I came across a post somewhere that said to ensure the cartomizer is screwed onto the battery as tight as it can be on the KR808D-1. After doing this, I noticed an immediate improvement in vapor production. Not as much as my 510 or M401....but far better than it had been.

As of right now, I'm using it as my secondary for menthol (which tastes far superior in the KR than my 510 or M401) - but I don't see it ever being my favorite PV.

I think I'd like it much better with whistle tips...as the cartomizer feels too big for my mouth and it's tough to get a tight seal with my lips.

Yeah, the Green Smoke kind of ruins you on the vapor production of other e-cigs. Really surprizing the amount of vapor you get from a 3 second drag.

If I want to show off, I use the GS

Plus, they're vanilla is awesome!

I just wish they had 24mg nic carts.

jp....If you have an 801 soft rubber whistle tip it will fit on the carto. of a Kr808D-1 with a little work and once stretched it will fit easily after that, I've been using them for a long time.

I vape on 6v to 7v in the morning, and evening on cartomizers every day. I have yet to kill one, and I love the flavor they produce at high voltage.

Matt - check out the modders forum. I am using the spring mod in my 510 now and it is perfect! I get around 13 drops in it and it vapes every last drop before needing refilled! And absolutely no leaks :)
