DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS!
Another forum member noticed that I have been a member on this forum since 2008, which is when I started vaping.
I think e-cigs have been around at least 2 years or more, and the industry has grown exponentially, with lots of distributors, manufacturers, suppliers, options, accessories.
But still, there is a LARGE population that has never heard of them, or oare not very familiar with vaping.
It's such a shame because there are so many who are smoking analogs, wasting alot of money and causing alot of health problems, and if they only knew about ecigs, it could change their life. Plus they are TASTIER!
They give you the nicotine that your body craves physiologically and give you the hand to mouth "action" that seems to relax us smokers/vapers.
Are yall amazed that there are still so many analog smokers out there?
I am.
BTW, I went to a mall the other day because I was in a "crisis"...had quit analogs again, and my ecig hadnt arrived in the mail, so i was gonna buy one from a kiosk. When I asked the price, the saleswoman quoted 150 for one and 210 for the other model (they werent even anything special, just your regular ole ecigs)..i told her "you got to be crazy! no wonder people aint buying them-they see the prices in the mall and think that it is THAT expensive to buy an ecig!" I told her that on the internet, you can find hundreds, maybe thousands of ecigs for MUCH cheaper, that are even better! Then I went to a truckstop cuz I had heard that some of them carry njoy. Didnt find any. Couldnt believe a BIG Texas sized truckstop in Texas doesnt carry ecigs! You KNOW many long haul drivers chain smoke! What a perfect opportunity to gain new customers! Someone needs to contact Flying J Truckstops!!! Yall could make a killing!
Just my thoughts for the day!

News of the PV spreads like wildfire though. I accidentally "paid it forward" quite a few times this past week just from people either asking "what is that?" or "is that one of those electronic cigarettes?". After answering some questions, most all of them wanted to give it a try, so I gave them a little card with general info and a link to ECF on it.

Like one of them said, "You'd have to be crazy not to at least try it."

i was vaping in 2008, then in early 2009 i didnt reorder after a few atomizers died, so broke down and bought a pack of analogs and i was back to smoking analogs full-time.
I am having surgery and was told i HAVE to quit smoking, but knew that I could only do it if I went back to "vaping", and started researching and found that there have been alot of improvements in durability since then. So I am back to vaping fulltime!
bought Modern Vapor cuz a friend has it, but cant seem to get them to work...dont know why! using a very cheap ecig a friend gave me with cartomizers for now while waiting on my eGo from Nicotine Nirvana to arrive in the next few days, hopefully!

Wow, what have you been doing for the last two years?
:)

Yes, there are a lot of us out there that don't know about the e-cigs. I just found out about them early last week and got mine in the mail today (getting ready to open it). My Dad and Grandpa are going to try it and I hope they end up liking it and making the switch. My Grandpa will be a challenge as he has been smoking analogs (I think that is what you all call just regular cigarettes around here???) for 60 years. We will see how it goes!!

Strangely enough, I think a lot of older folks take to it better than younger folks.

I think it has to do with seeing death looming in your rear-view mirror.
And young folks can't see death, because apparently he is invisible to them.

good point...i am in my mid 40s and now have friends who have Stage IV lung cancer and other major illnesses, so i am surrounded by reminders of the consequences of longterm smoking much more than i was 10 years ago.
and for the past three years i have been working in a specialty medical field as a health care professional where i directly see the effects of smoking. (there needs to be a video showing what an endotracheal tube looks like when a patient is extubated after surgery, when the patient is a smoker....its enough to make anyone quit).

my sister showed it to her PCP a few years ago, and he asked her to demonstrate it, and he is now mentioning it as an "option" to his patients who are COPD'ers with emphysema who simply will not quit smoking. for some, it is the LAST HOPE. he got so excited about it, that i believe he even has literature in his office now for patients.

I told my primary care doc about it last week and he had no idea what I was talking about.

That's pretty cool. He sounds like a good doctor and he's making a difference.

Wow....what a blast from the past! Welcome back TT! I remember when you were waiting for your first ecig....we were all waiting with you.....lol.

Don't know if you've been to the Vet's forum yet but if not, you might want to check it out. Might see some familiar faces there.

Glad you found your way back around :)

He isn't invisible...we play chess on tuesdays. ^_^

also...I'm young i swears! *feels old* I'm only 24 :(

Question...your sig says Texas is god's country, but Texas isn't a country, how does that work?
*confused*
Is it just a saying? I've heard it many times, starting to wonder if Texas seceded from the union and noone bothered to tell me.

Edit: so I checked...Texas is still a state. I'm just gonna put this one down as an old saying.

Oh, I remember it well! I was new too back then and didn't post much (except when I had questions), but I read every post, every day (remember? the forum was small enough to do that back then!)

I especially remember this:

I ordered from puresmoker, and they shipped on Tuesday. I am prayin that they get here tomorrow. That is, if they find me out here in the sticks..i live in a very small rural town here in Texas....hope they didn't have to round up the pony express!

The Pony Express....that was hilarious!

So as you can see....things are a little different now. A lot more to choose from than the 801, 901, Janty Kissbox and the Screwdriver....lol

I still smoke some analogs....even fell off the wagon a couple of times...but got right back on. Still looking for my 'nirvana'....but I never give up hope.

A lot has changed here since we were new. Hope you stick around this time! :)
