Sorting some emails, and came across the receipt email from Amazon from a couple of weeks ago, when I found a source for eGo mini 350 mAh batteries there, after seeing a number of 'Out Of Stock" listings on dedicated e-cig websites ...

I'll admit I didn't shop around very much, but I really wanted a very short battery for my eGo pen top cart, so it would fit easily in a shirt pocket ...

The actual vendor was "420accessory", and its listed as a "Flashlight Attachment", though it uses the term "Ego-t" ...

Amazon.com: Ego-t 350 Mah Battery for 420accessory Flashlight Attachment: Everything Else

There was a small printed note in the package when delivered, from the vendor, stating that Amazon was systematically removing his listings, and all other e-cig related items, and to order direct from him in the future ...

I've liked Amazon for years, have ordered everything from books to socks and underwear through them, because their shopping cart is so simple and fast, and they have such a variety ...

Does Amazon now have a policy against e-cig merchandise ? If so, I'm disappointed in them ...

Anyone else encounter this ?

I guess that I'm still having trouble adjusting to the level of willful ignorance implied by equating tobacco smoke with e-cig vapor. Apples and oranges ...

Or maybe its just Amazon bowing to political correctness and the fanatical demonizing of cigarettes for the past few decades ?

As a non-drinker, I constantly remind myself of the hypocricy of preaching the evils of ahcohol, after spending almost half my life as an alcoholic ...

Vendors like Amazon should embrace e-cig products, not condemn them. Oh well, that's some of my shopping budget that they won't get ...

It probably has to do with age verification (or a lack thereof) with nicotine and related gear rather than "ecigs are unsafe," but who knows? I like Amazon, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

I thought so too, but then I thought there must be other products on Amazon that are inappropriate for minors, like certain videos or medical supplies. They handle such a wide array of merchandise, some of it must be age-restricted, so they should already have a mechanism for verifying age ...

Yes to the first to a degree, no to the second. Just like paypal, they got a threatening letter from ASH-US about how evil vaping is and buckled immediately and banned all vaping supplies. Those store fronts selling them don't last long.

Still disappointed by the hypocracy of Amazon, suppressing store fronts that sell e-cig gear ...

I'm all for protecting young people from potentially harmful products, although kids are amazingly creative in acquiring any merchandise that they want. I know I certainly was, and that hasn't changed ...

How is an eGo battery more dangerous than a BB gun ?

Hmm. I have used eBay and PayPal to buy and sell numerous items related to personal vaporizers.

I don't sell any nicotine products. I don't buy any nicotine products using their service, and nowhere in any description of the products have I seen terms like e-cigarette, e-smoking, vaping, or anything else.

Not the first battery, clearomizer or drip tip I've sold have one nanogram of nicotine or any other tobacco product in them.

I think that as long as eBay storefronts are discreet in how they describe their items, they'll be Ok. If they're all willy-nilly and use the wrong keywords, boom. eBay and PayPal don't want the bad PR of being an outlet for kids to have access to what the public still suspects as something very risky. It'll be awhile before they come around.
