I went in to a brick and mortar near me with my new mini 2.1 and started filling the shop with clouds. the 20 yr olds put down their Nemesis mods and with a dropped jaw, said, "what mod is THAT?!" They also asked if the rba on it was a modified igo-l. I said that this awesome guy named Rob made these. when they unscrewed the top they found the ceramic plate and asked if it was a hybrid Immortalizer. Those go for $120 new i think. one of the 18 year old employees told his friend, "hey remember when I had that idea for a juice bottom feeder?". After 9 hours, I still don't know how to feel about what transpired. I just have to give props to Rob for designing such a perfect mod. I can't even begin to fathom how much money I would have to spend on an aga-t and a nemesis, when I have the same thing all built into one mod. Thank you!

What, no picture? ;)

Three of my RM2s are milled down, seen on Mini 1.0 and 2.0. The one on Orange Mini 2.1 is milled down, although the catchcup is big enough to accommodate non-milled.

{edit} As most of my Mini REOs are older, with the smaller catchcup, I'm probably going to be sending the bases of the two non-milled ones to REO spa for mill down. That way I can make fast switches between all REO versions eliminating a bit of fiddle. Too many other things in my existance that require "fiddle."

BTW, I've been vaping three years this month. Fortunately I discovered REOs early on but I've done my share of trying all kinds of PVs, modding attys, cartos, tanks and plenty of tube mods, including high end. GGTS and Provari were traded for REOs way, way back.;) But I still have a few others that I've hung onto and do order tanks to fiddle with for a few minutes. Any and all tube mods have been vaped, all of them, probably less than what I vape a REO in a week. Not knocking tube mods for other vapers. Heck, DH, with a vast selection of metal and Wood REOs from which to choose, still prefers to do most of his vaping using a Twist or Spinner and Mini ViVi Nova tank. Living with the traitor, I know. But every time he frequently has to fiddle with his tanks or ask me to make his mini tank taste as good as my REOs or I'm out of town and he runs into tank crisis and wants quick rescue..... I hand him one of my REOs I'm currently vaping or he grabs a loaded one out of cabinet if I'm gone....... I get a "Da um, make my setup vape like this please." The skinny tube and tank mainly are more comfortable for his hands and travel better in his overstuffed shirt pockets. (He loves his TH but has to dilute our juices a bit more with 0 pg or vg when he uses a REO but still loves the bonus flavor using REO.)

Thanks, westamyx! Time to read up on building coils and whatnot...

I still have in my possession a bunch of high to low end RBAs, all with one or more redeeming qualitie(s). They have been totally neglected since I received my first two RM2s. I cannot stress enough how easy it is to coil an RM2 and enjoy one of the best of all vapes. Along with that comes FIDDLE FREE, for me. Not saying fiddle isn't sometimes needed but I no longer have it in my vaping life. What totally eliminated FIDDLE for me was moving to micro coil and cotton ball wick. I can even recoil and/or rewick with only my readers and decent ambient lighting, arthritic hands, and even some loss of feeling in fingers from nerve damage. I was a major holdout moving to rolled cotton wick because my juices gunk up coils and wicks so quickly. (I tried natural wicks last year but it didn't all come together until micro coil, rolled cotton combo.) Instead of coil/wick (silica for instance) needing one or more dry burns daily I'm now getting two or more long days between changing out rolled cotton wicks with a very fast coil dryburn. Most micro coils would probably go longer than the two weeks I use them between recoiling. Of course much of thi may be dependant on micro coil/rolled cotton being used in an RM2.

Hoping some day to grab some time to play with micro coil/rolled cotton on other high end RBAs with posts and top cap air hole. In the meantime I'm sure others can offer comparisons. (I have Killers, eBaron, macARBs that have ceramic cups and use NR wire. Poor expensive little things are sorely neglected.) It will be fun to compare the ERAs, Surfaces, and Hornets coiled the same. BUT with those and virtually all others the fear of shorting exists, unlike with the RM2s. I still check them on build but I've never built one thst shorts no matter how sloppy my build.

I just made an interesting discovery. So I have a milled down chrome RM2 on one of my oldest Mini, still has all original everything, and using a fatter than I need o-ring under base to hide the brass, not to adjust where the cap hole is (but the hole is on the wrong side necessitating me to use my thumb instead of index finger to fire... My thumb is not happy about that.). So the coil I did for it today is 1.83 ohm. It needs to be just a hair less ohms. So when I got home just now, I took a chrome, non-milled RM2 off of my Mini 2.0, one of the first productions, not the 2.1 with bigger well, but does fit and work well on 2.0, to see if its hole would line up on side away from me on 1.0....... low and behold the RM2 that fits the Mini 2.0 does not fit and fire in Mini 1.0. Remember it is not milled down. I haven't tried it on any of my other older Mini yet. But it is interesting. So I put the 1.83 back on the Mini 1.0 and now the hole is away from me and firing well. Interesting.

So if you happen to have a non milled RM2 and a Mini 2.0 it just might fit. Give it a try.

BTW... I'm holding out on doing a rebuild on this old Mini 1.0 as it doesn't need it. It's been in constant use over 2 years. If I did rebuild it would probably raise the center post a bit, though.

i just can't be bothered to faff about with R and NR wire, when an RM2 is so easy to redo. i figure 5 mins for something that lasts a week or two is a better return on the time used to make it.

T

They main thing I like about my ceramic base NR wire RBAs is the slim profile on the Mini 1.0. Just looks better to me. AND that's not reason enough for me to coil them since I've gotten the RM2s. I've gotten the recoiling and wicking down about to 3 minutes or less on the RM2. Rewicking takes about a minute once I have the little zip case out and opened.

Are there different cap options for the RM2?

The first one I ordered with a grand, it has a good size hole in the cap. The second one I just received has a tiny hole in it...?

Not that I'm aware of. Did you get them straight from REO? Have you gauged them?

Yes, both bought recently...a week apart.

I dont have a gauge, but its an obvious difference that one is drilled way bigger than the other.

(they looked scratched up, but its just reflections...they are brand new)

Shoot a PM to Robert with the pics. I am sure he has the answer and will fix any problem. He will be glad to know!
