Out of curiosity, how are you guys checking ohm on your coils with this device. I have a provari, and its quite obvious how I check the coils on that.. What if I didn't have a provari laying around? If you are using a carto/atty checker I would love to know where to actually find one in stock...

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a grand.. I am going to skip on the vv for the moment I think, following the whole KISS theory.

using a Pvari is fine, but i think they won't read below 1.2ohms or so.

a $5 multimeter from a place like Harbor Freight will work fine too, if you adjust for lead resistance.

today Fasttech just released a carto ohmmeter. a little pricey for US residents, but it's a good sign that these things may not be so scarce in the future.

My Vamo will read under 1.2 ohms, but won't fire them.

The longest I have left a coil on is a month. I replaced it because I wanted to. It was fine. These days I kinda leave my setups alone. Except for today :). I ripped a perfectly good 1 month old 1.5 ohm 10 wrap 30 ga micro coil off my grand and replaced it with a .73 ohm 8 wrap 27 ga micro coil. Damn it was a warm vape.

Replaced it about 15 minutes later with another 10 wrap 30 ga micro coil :)

I replace my cotton wicks about once a week cause I be gettin bored. Never burned one yet and my clear unflavored nic base in mostly VG is extremely kind on the builds and vape gear in general :)

It's ok, nobody is perfect! I'm joking of course. I have a VVG but if you're gonna get into rebuilding, a Grand is what you want. I've heard the chipset in VVG's aren't so awesome so even though i haven't had any problems (knock on wood) yet, the Grand is just the best most reliable and versatile bottom feeding mech on the planet, hands down. Add the support you get around here and you'll be fieldstripping it and giving it baths in no time.

You're better off getting a multimeter instead of an ohms meter because of availability among other things. Here's a short tutorial may help make these things less confusing, because at first glance they are intimidating (unless you're a geek or electrician)

i think Vamos will read down to .8 so are superior ohmmeters to the Pvari :)

Nice choice, Spoons!

I checked my Vamo (before killing it a third and last time) against a MM and found it to be quite accurate down to .3Ω (it was a V1)

Why, Mama, how many times do you kill your HHes?

very nice spoons.

I hope your not feeling over whelmed about the whole micro coil wrapping thing. It is really quite easy once you get the hang of it.

I used to rebuild my protank coils, and micro coils are way easier to build, especially when using cotton.

I have some materials at home from when I was using the ZAP, but I am going to have to check the gauge on the wire I have. What gauge are you using? Cotton balls will be easy enough to find.. should be anyway.

I have tried gauges 28-34 and have found the 28 to be the most versatile for the ohm's i like to vape at. I use 28 gauge pretty much exclusively. I can't use nichrome or rene because of my slight nickel allergy.

I recommend getting organic cotton, to avoid the pesticides. I boil my cotton using 2, 20min boils with a rinse and press in between, then lay them out on some paper towels overnight to dry.

The cvs organics I use are whitened with hydrogen peroxide, and left me with a horrid after taste for a good while. Boiling gets rid of it immediately. I did get the same bad after taste with sterile cotton. I haven't tried anything else because i just don't see the need to, as cotton works great for me.

I've got one of those (Cen-Tech) among several multimeters and it works fine with the adjustment. Their newer version is about $8 and has auto-zero. RTDvapor has them too if you're ordering batteries or other stuff from them (plus no sales tax and you get the 5% ECF5 discount).

HF has a discount mailer with a coupon for the Cen-Tech. picked up a spare yesterday for $2.99 along with a bunch of other cool stuff that i'll probly never use :)
