Attached a photo of my messy but working mod. This soldering/building business is new to me and I really dig it!! .... All thanks to the Puckster. :)

If anyone has some advice.... A little trouble connecting the pin of the jack to the carto (used size N from RS for an 808 carto). I attempted to add a bit of solder to the top of the pin, but I'm not sure if I've made a proper connection. Is there a specific way to do it or is it just a matter of making any kind of connection? Perhaps the puck just has a different vaping 'feel' to it. I'll keep playing.

I must say it is sooooo nice not having to recharge every two hours!!

Hi McG, I just took a photo but can't figure out how to upload it. I feel totally lame. :)

Made a puck! Just need to paint it. It looks a little sloppy but paint will cover it up. This is the first mod I have built. I used a 510 connection taken from a bad battery. Rest are 100% rat shack parts.

Wow I have had a serious nic buzz for hours now... think it is time to put it down..... :)

First mod I've ever even attempted!

Although the first puck attempt was a still-born (bad solder job on the connector causing a short)... it's brother was born healthy and strong today at 12:45pm.:vapor:

I didn't have any 901 attys yet... but I found my V4L cartos work well with the puck:blink:. The draw is a bit stiff, but they'll work till I get some 901's. I'm not sure how to test the resistance on those cartos, so I'm not sure what ohms they're at.

Thanks be to Puck!!!:toast:

Great job building the Pucks you all have been building. This past two weeks have been hard for me to comment and you all have been doing a great job on your boxes so I just wanted to say congratulations on your builds :)

Tip: I seen a few posts where your boxes were separating when using jb weld or jb qwik. I scratch both boxes up real good with a knife where the epoxy is going to go. You could even sand the areas with sand paper first. I also drill a small hole in each side so some epoxy goes into the hole, helping to strengthen the join.

Tip 2: To use a pump bottle (AKA new cruiser-ish design), you won't fit that bottle into a 4 AAA box... Use a 2 AA box (from Radio shack also). So for the Puck design you would have a regular 4 AAA box and a 2 AA box piggybacked (which holds the atty, push button, led and pump bottle). I've been using this design for the past few months. This is just a taste or hint until I can get the tutorial done.

I appreciate all of the kind comments directed toward me. I'm just glad I can contribute something almost anyone can build to keep them off of cigarettes. If it wasn't for this design, I would probably still be smoking cancer sticks.

My project at work is almost over and my time will be freed up quite a bit so I'll start posting more tutorials on some of my new goodies (still Puck related) :) You all are impressing me and I'm enjoying watching you all build your mods. Carry on and keep up the good work. (and stay off the cancer sticks :) )

Great first mod !!! congrats

just guessing, but it seems you may have had trouble making the holes. best tool I have is a reamer $3.50
T-Handle Reamer, but the trick is to go to Harbor Freight and leave with just one item......

Yes, the t-handle Reamer is your best friend when doing mods. I've been using them for over 30 years. Don't leave home do mod without one :)

Awesome ~ thanks!!
I know you're busy, but if by chance you have a moment....
Are you still using genuine SLB 901s or have you found a new favorite? Would you feel comfortable telling us where you purchase them? Just thought I'd check before I place an order. Thanks so much Mr. Puck and no prob if you don't have a chance to reply.

I just decided to use some parts I had around the house to make myself a Puck Mod. An hour, one cut, and two burned fingers later, and here's the result:

As you can see, it uses an eGo connection, so I can use either regular 510s, or eGo atomizers. The case is from DealExtreme; you can see it here.

I prefer the SLB 901s. I bought a bunch of 901s from China and each one went out within a week or earlier of using them. Total crap. I used to buy them from StrictlyEJuice but they don't seem to have anything anymore. Not sure what's up with them so.... I've been buying mine from Madvapes. They are running about 7 bucks for one but they are SLB and have worked well so far.

Pretty cool. What's that case from? I like it.

It's a PSP Go emergency charger. Once you pull out the control board, you've got plenty of room to work with.

I'm going to check around and see if I can find a voltmeter that's thin enough to fit inside the case; pair that with a variable voltage controller, and I'll have taken advantage of all the space. I don't think there's enough room even for a 3ml juice bottle, so that option is out.

Oh, and even though the website shows the battery door detached, it's not actually detachable, at least in the version I got. I actually prefer it that way.
