Hmm, we'll call that a toaster then![]()
A toaster for sure
I have a 4081 in my vape box and i measured the resistance and it is dang near the 901. That is probably why it is working so well with the NiMh.
I mentioned in an earlier post that I have a 510 atomizer and adapter coming to test to see how the 510 works with the Puck mod. We'll see how the NiMh holds up with that atomizer.
I liked my 4081 but the only problem I had with it was it didn't hold much juice. Every one said there was extended cartridges but I could never find any. After a while I moved to the 901 which i really liked and have been using that atomizer on all my mods. I have stuck with Puck design though since it has worked so well for me. I've made a bunch of others but it has been tops for me.
Are you juicing the 4081 somehow or are you just using cartos?
If you are still using the NiMh batts, let me know how long they last for you using the 4081 if you could. I can't use mine on NiMh for testing until I find an adapter or build a new box with the right connector.
no prob, they're still going strong, but ill let you know when they quit
These are voltages under load?UPDATE: 9 Hours and still vaping... Batteries read 4.3 volts still, just down .2 volts from 3 hours ago.
These are voltages under load?
Any report on how long the batteries lasted with the 4081 atomizer?
Nine hours and still at 4.3V is rather amazing. But it appears that after that they fall off quickly?
I would luv to know what the initial loaded volts are with your Joye atty.
Looks like I gotta try some.
Have you cats tried this with 14500 li cells?Maybe a reg in the control box??Puck,
Positive comments first
Nimh AAA cells:
Local replacement batteries from just about anywhere (even wally world) is a plus for using Nimh cells. You are correct that memory effect for the stack is of no concern sense you charge them in their own charging slot.
The double box: This is a flexible concept. Room to add features, change the layout, customize just the way you want. Many mods don't offer that flexibility. Those that want a cigarette sized e-cig and are satisfied with the performance might not like the almost hand filling proportions, but a slim e-cig will not perform like a mod.
4.8 volts:
Not quite 5v, but greater than 3.7. I'm satisfied at 3.7v but many people want to go hotter, like 6v or even hotter. 4 Nimh cells seems like a natural solution.
Li-ion:
The primary reason for using Li-ion cells (like in cells phones, laptops, most NEW electronic devices) is charge density. Aside from some of the newer variations of Lithium battery technology, the Li-ion cell provides more charge for size or weight. Just like the Nimh has a size and weight advantage over Nicad. (I used to fly Nicads)
The 4 AAA cells give you 4.8 volts (average) with 850mah or a total charge of 4.08 watt hours.
A 18650 Li-ion cell give 3.7 volts (average) with 2600mah or a total charge of 9.62 watt hours. Over twice the charge.
4 AA 2600mah Nimh cells in series or two 18650 Li-ion cells in parallel would give even more watt hours to burn. But, 4 AAAA are a nice way to go (for some).
I normally suck down 2 18650 Li-ion cells per day. 4 AAAA Nimh wouldn't last me long
Keep up the good work. No model e-cig or mod is best for everyone. Yours has features that will appeal to some, and maybe not others. I hope you take this as a positive critique.

The whole point behind my design was the ability to build the box and get your batteries from a local source... Parts from Radio Shack... Batteries from any local grocery store or department store. Finding something that worked required a lot of experimentation which resulted in the Puck.
I could get into regualtors and such but I wanted it simple, easy to get
I appreciate the interest and maybe a new mod I build later may get more intense with ordered parts (other than the atomizer) and run 5 volts with li batteries... but that is what everyone one else is doingI wanted to be different (and cheap and small)

would the rechargeable lithium batteries from ace work in the puck as well as the nihm,s?
