I am not finding any real demonstration/how-to's in this so called workshop. All I am finding is that they are searching for data as it relates to explosions, asking for ideas on how to minimize the risks, etc. Nothing about ohm's law or how to use them correctly to stay safer with use.

This workshop is only gathering ideas, etc. So to me, nothing more than a back-handed way to gather info and 'show' how the FDA is doing 'something'.
What a waste of funds and time.

They're simply gathering information to support the position that closed ENDS systems with built in battery protections will be safer for the public than current battery use. Essentially, as long as there are folks around who are just plain too stupid to use a battery safely, they would improve the situation by simply eliminating the ability of idiots to blow themselves up by keeping those evil batteries out of their hands (and pockets).

Like I said.....waste of time and money.

@Eskie
We should add " More Junk 'Science' " to your thread title

hmmmm...that might be a good idea for all the threads reporting on crapola news

oh I crack myself up sometimes : CNN = Crapola Not News

Did I do that right?:)

What a load of crap garnered from already published crap !

They call this news/journalism ?

SHAMEFUL and sadly laughable !!!

And furthermore...why the hell hasn't anyone taught me how to make dragons, volcanoes and little hearts ?
We need a new sub-forum !!!
You guys are really letting me down here :sneaky:

^^^^^^^This!^^^^^^^
Tried to make a dragon for half an hour after reading this. All I accomplished was emptying my tank and creating the need to swap out the battery. Obviously an advanced course is sorely needed:confused:

Ask Gandalf....he's quite good at smoke tricks....and as I understand it, Ian McKellan knows the secret! Those scenes are 100% legit(just like this brilliantly written article by CNN) and absolutely no CGI or video enhancement was at all required!

Also....are you sure you want to be practising your dragons so much if you're going to drain your battery? Arent those dangerous?

Also...could drippers be made safe if you flooded them like a tank or something and only used rainbow dust?

hmmm....rainbow dust....did I just name my next juice creation?

The little hearts trick would be really cool to learn before Valentine's Day. I think the article would have been even better with video of the dragons and volcanoes too.

The article does supply one very useful tidbit. The FDA will be holding an open workshop on e cig battery safety 4/19 and 4/20, with public comments accepted until 5/22. Might be nice to send in comments even though they'll never be read. Federal Register :: Battery Safety Concerns in Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems; Public Workshop; Establishment of a Public Docket; Request for Comments
FDA going after batteries?
My alerts are starting to beep..

Bah I dont drip, i use an AWESOME RTA (Griffin 25+) So i guess that makes me 100% safe from the Junk Science! Woot Woot. Stupid CNN, They need to go off air for a few months fire everyone and rebuild from the ground up if they ever want to be taken seriously ever again. Ridiculous stuff coming out of them for quite a long while now.

It took some Digging, but I found the Text of the Study that CNN is referencing...

http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/pediatrics/early/2017/02/02/peds.2016-3224.full.pdf

Huh. In a quick and dirty read of just the abstract I noticed they surveyed 7,045 students and found 1,080 who had used ecigs ~15% of those surveyed. Of those, 26% dripped (what a crappy way to put it). Which means out of 7,000 student questioned, ~250, or 3% of the total, tried dripping. Quite the epidemic.

They do talk about the low percentages farther into that paper, right? Or did they gloss over that part?

Yeah.... A lot has been Glossed Over.

One I would ask is Why is Dripping/Non-Dripping even relevant?

And where is the Study Evidence (likely NIH and FDA Funded) that makes the Correlation between Dripping and Higher Potential Risk?
