Is there any way to avoid getting this so called "cotton fever"?

Yes.. Don't use drug intravenously.

I wasn't going to post this because it's a very sensitive subject for me but oh well..

I have experienced cotton fever first hand (I'm a recovered addict). I have ONLY experienced it as a result of very specific circumstances (cotton used to filter liquid from powder substance then placed aside while still moist to save for later - at a later time I would "re-cook" the used powder substance and again filter the liquid thru the same cotton piece)..

While it's called "cotton fever" my personal experience has shown that it does not arise from cotton alone (the already-used powder substance from a specific prescription medication seems, in my experience, to play a big role and AFAIK, cotton fever is isolated to the IV-drug-user community.

After I had no luck when I tried to use cotton yarn as the wick in kanger T3, I decided to use sterilized cotton (the kind that is used in medical) and I was succeed. I store it in a wide mouth bottle by glass, just wash my hand and sterilized my tools by an alcohol lamp before I make a new coil. I do not have any negative affect to my lung, no cough, no pain, no sore throat etc.. The cotton will absorb e-juice and the coil will make juice vaporize but the absorb speed will not fast enough so there will be little burnt cotton yarn, of course just the outside cotton yarn, and this burnt cotton yarn will not absorb juice anymore, so the heat of the coil will damage the cotton wick from outside to inside until it is totally burnt (the flavor is reduced, burnt-taste occur). You will need a new wick.

So, I have no idea to use the cotton wick until it is damaged, I make myself a new cotton wick after one full juice tank is used (about 3ml). Cotton is very cheap and easily to buy.

How do you think about my crazy idea? I want to use ultra violet to sterilized the cotton before use, hehehehe.

PS: Sorry about my bad English. ^^

But, then again, cigarettes had been around for many decades (centuries?) when I started smoking.....But, I also knew there was almost zero chance of me getting some bacterial infection as a direct result of smoking (bronchitis and other airway issues notwithstanding). Since the cigarette literally burns the tobacco, the chances of anything surviving is slim to none.

I'm pretty sure when most people started smoking, they weren't thinking about bacterial infections. Or cancer. Or much of anything really. If we were all health nuts, we wouldn't have started smoking in the first place.

Moreover, the tobacco industry is well regulated.

LOL, wut?? The tobacco industry has been steadily introducing new and dangerous chemicals into their products for over a century. The count of all chemicals in a single cigarette, after combustion, is over 4000.
The amount of chemicals in my vapor can't even scratch that. And that's without regulation.

Just an interested guy curious about what vapor might or might not contain.

There are tons of professional studies already done on this, and more findings are published all the time. The findings vary due to the wide variety of vaping gear, but the overall conclusion is that the amount of 'stuff' in vapor is negligible compared to the 'stuff' in tobacco smoke.
A quick Google search would put you in touch with all the information you need. Why rely on this speculation seeking thread when you can get cold, hard fact?
