Spotted this in my Facebook feed so naturally had to have a look, looks like a smok xcube 2 and a velocity rda with an LG battery.
Thoughts folks?

All joking aside, there was possible a short as it touched metal coins or the button was depressed for a long time causing the battery to overheat.

Kept in his pocket, loose, unprotected, with spare change and his house keys.

Read the last sentence of the article. It was a spare battery, obviously not in a protective case or silicone sleeve loose in his pocket. It must have shorted with other metal objects in the same pocket.

That last sentence... "He carried it as a spare" Was he walking around with a battery (not in the mod) in his pocket? Perhaps he had other things in his pocket. Keys, change, etc... ?

Should note, he was wearing synthetic sweat pants. Very flammable. A spark could have lit them up. Most of his burns were from the pants, not the battery.

Darwin Award winner. Wear flammable pants with an ignition source in the pocket.

Yes he should have been warned by the seller, but the same could have happened with a Duracell alkaline AA.

I have a silicone sleeve for every 18650 I own. If a battery is not in the charger or a mod it is in it's sleeve. If that battery shares a pocket with the mod the mod is also in a silicone or faux leather case. The silicone sleeves cost about a dollar each on fasttech.

I wish there were more choices of 2 cell mods wired in paralell. My plan was to carry one of those on all day field trips instead of a spare battery. The one I know about that's available is not quite what I'm looking for.
