Another newbie and his first experiences

Well i found myself vaping a bit much after quitting analogs finally, so i decided maybe i needed a bit of "Kick" and this would also be a good time for me to quit using Dip.

I do love dip, I seriously enjoy the flavor and the nic but i know what it can and will do to me so I opted to experiment with Snuff instead.

So, ordered from MR. Snuff:
Zuka Black (In a bullet)
Quit With Snuff (In a bullet, heard it was loaded with natural tobacco flavor and nic so why not?)
Wilsons Irish Toast no. 22
Mc Crystals err....its not labeled and i forgot

Well, this has been a heck of an adjustment but i must say i LIKE it. Its fun, they all hit hard, and they're good!
So far im prefering the Zuka black and the Wilsons the most really. The Quit With Snuff while it hits hard, seems to lack flavor which is my most important desire! The Mc Crystals seems to burn to much (Its a ultra fine i think) and while it has a decent flavor it might be a bit to minty for me.

The wilsons has a nice woody flavor which im loving! Im after the strong natural/tobacco flavors if at all possible.

Well after lurking around here for awhile before ordering id like to say thanks for the advice and ideas! Thanks guys.

BTW, any more recommendations on some potent woody/tobacco/natural flavors to order the next time around?

Rooster!! If you LOVE BBQ then it is IDEAL!! OMG some burnin southern loves. For under 2 bucks you get a monster bucket of it and IT WILL!!!!!! peel your eyes back.

I got Dholakia black and its up there with rooster, earthy woody and dark. Swiss chocolate is nice..

You are right about the McCrystals is very heavy on the medicated.

Oh yea soe other things ive begun to notice today:
1. Ive yet to sneeze, even once, nor even feel like im coming close!
2. How much really should i use in each nostril? Ive been using the end of a key, just a little mound.
3. How often can i safely use snuff? Every hour? More? Less?

I did notice this morning I had eye burn that was like the intensity of the snotter hits.

I have been going kinda heavy and have some clove mccrystals that is stomping me ......ed.

Good starter set, ShadowWulf. I, too, liked the Zuka Black -- but it's expensive stuff, in a bullet that can't be refilled. What a bummer. The Toque bullets and most others just unscrew for refilling.

I currently have Quit with Snuff Jasmine and Quit with Snuff Sandalwood. They are among the most powerfully flavored snuffs I have! Also quite good from a nic perspective. But the flavor is overpowering.

I have never taken to "toasts" or any dry, fine snuff. It's all about personal tastes, and mine run to coarse and moist snuffs.

If you want woodsy tobacco, check out the offerings of DeKralinges. These snuffs are ground in machine-driven pestles powered by windmills! Many of them contain latakia, the wonderful tobacco that characterizes the finest pipe tobaccos. My personal favorite, however, is the one that doesn't contain latakia: the clove-flavored Pompadour.

Like you, I haven't fallen in love with McCrystal's anything ...

P.S. The small amount on the end of a key is fine. There's no prize given for filling your nostrils with powdery tobacco. Bigger is not better.

You can sniff every half-hour if you feel the urge. Your hourly nicotine total that way will equal smoking about two cigarettes in the same time period. Think of your Zuka Black bullet as equaling one pack of Marlboros. It's about the same to your brain. A bullet a day is a pack a day .. roughly.

Well TBob, I got some o' the Dholakia Swiss tonight. Oh my! It is the epitome of a dessert! Man o man but that is some delightful snuff!!!

Shadowulf, I'm really new to snuff myself. Also tried my first American Scotch tonight. Garretts Sweet. It's everything that TBob doesn't care for, I don't know yet if I like it. Smokey, BBQ, fine and dry, and it does indeed pack the nic!

Hey, TBob, OTD. Just lurkin' with Igor and thought I'd say "Hey" . A bullet a day is roughly a pack a day...hmmmm.....a sniff every half hour is about equal to a smoke every half hour....hmmmm. So, if I was interested, which my wife says I'm not, I assume nic levels vary as it does with snus, no? Just askin'.

There are differences in nic. Best I can tell it has a lot to do with grind as well as base tobacco used.

I tried 2 different Toque snuffs over the the last 2 weeks and I got NO nic satisfaction.

Tried an American Scotch tonight and it, as the snuff aficionados say, blew my frikkin' head off!

TBob, isande, somebody that knows care to elaborate!

And TV, as far as the booger thing, eh, not sucha big deal. stick the shnoz under the tap once in awhile, warm water preferably, and yer good ta go!

Glad you posted a reply, Dredbull's got the snot and fart market cornered, but I don't think Momma would let me out to play anymore...come to think of it, he was my best man at the wedding....No, can't go out anymore, anyway.

Yea ya know, i was surprised by this as well. Ive had no build up and ive been using it all day long now. Maybe a bit of dryness from time to time but thats the extent of it.

Shadow...The "Build-Up" may be the only downside to snuff...You may want to try some nasel saline to clean the pipes if need be.As Dreadbull and OTD mentioned the American Scotch/Sweets will fill the nicotine bill in a big way....and quite large portions compared to other snuffs at the same price. Rooster seems to be mentioned the most for higher nicotine...I myself just recieved some Three Thistle Strong which is the most potent snuff I have had to date.Like TB I tend to enjoy the moist snuffs more in my regular rotation...I prefer the flavor over the nicotine level!! Ok, while Momma was busy with the little twisters yesterday I slipped into the local tobacco mart and picked up a can of Bruton Scotch Snuff. Not sure where this rates in the world of snuff's, but they only carried 2 kinds and the lady said this was the popular one. Like any new toy I had to give it a try as soon as I had ample privacy. "Jeeze, looks dry, makes me hungery for something cinnamon...stinks...(snort, snorrrt, snorrrt)8-o...help, my right eye's on fire...Oh, God! What have I done??......Phooow, my eye's sprinkler system's puttin' it out.....and out....and out....gotta clean that puddle off the floor . Never again. Those guys on the forum must be nuts, how could anybody in their right mind do this? Well, at least the burn didn't last too long and my eye's finally drying out. Never again, this stuff's goin' in the trash...........I do feel kinda refreshed, though.....'spose I could do the other side before I throw it away, just to even things out. After all, it didn't kill me.....(snort, snorrrt, snort, snort, snort) 8-o....Aayyaww....man, this'll never be a habit ....kinda thrilling after the pain goes away, though...(sniff, sniff) ..hmmm, does taste like scotch, too. ......bet it'ed be neat to take a couple hits before the drive home...

Inhale this LIGHTLY! Just barely enough airflow to pick the snuff up into yer nose. Ya want it to end up in the front of your nose, not all the way back in the sinuses.

Excuse me a moment here......

Better. Of course the snuff you chose to start with is the dryest finest out there. The kind you want to try after you've kinda learned a technique using a courser moister grind.

At that, those boogers will bounce!

Then I take it the key word is "lightly"...hmmm, musta overlooked that. Would also explain why I have an urge to inhale water through my nose to dampen that dry spot at the opening of my sinus cavity. So, what you're telling me is I'm doing it wrong and you guys are past this level of enjoyment . Ok. I need all the tips I can get. This is the first time I've ever seen snuff, so if I hadn't read differently here, I probably would have figured it to be tobacco flavored hot cocoa mix. Thanks .

OTD....Great description for snuff intake there!! After trying just about everything there is to do...the thumb/finger method has worked out best for me....and as you mentioned it's important to get it in the front part of your nose....otherwise the drain can be a killer!! I personally think you get the most and longest lasting flavor with that approach also!!The Wiz!
