The reason why they do not want you without shoes on, is becuase if there is an accident, ie you step on glass, they get hit with a HUGE fee. Too many of these, it doesn't take many, and the store gets no bonus, which is upwards to $420 every 3 months paid to each associate. Might not sound like much to some, but to a walmart associate its almost a free check (Walmart pays every 2 weeks, so that's 80 hours).

HOWEVER, i wouldn't not have left without talking to the co-manager of the store about being done shopping and wanting to pay for your stuff. There are co-managers there 24/7. Also if that didn't help i would have called the store manager, who's number is posted at customer service.

Yes, i work at walmart. :)

I really don't think about things like them getting fined/sued/losing bonuses or anything like that. I guess it's fact I was raised under a "no pitty for stupidity" philosophy, if you walk around barefoot your responsible for what happens to you, including stepping on glass. I would never complain about it if it were to happen when I was barefoot, my own fault for not wearing shoes. Even still, I don't argue her right to kick me out, I argue the rudeness behind it, OK fair enough be a B*tch to me if I'm causing problems or being rude or whatever but I was minding my own business. As for the manager thing, I chalk that sort of thing up to a waste of time, best case scenario I'd have been there an extra 30min (more time than it took to go to the other store) and gotten an "oops we're sorry" and been allowed to pay for my stuff... worst case I'd be accused of causing a scene, banned from the store, or worse had the cops called on me becuase someone's on a power trip, and cops just make me nervous (even though I have a spotless criminal record) better to grin n bare it and get on with my day

I don't think it had anything to do with shoes at all. She wanted you out of the store for vaping in there and that was the only thing she could come up with at the moment. She abused her authority by enforcing a non-existent store policy instead of asking that you stop vaping while in the store. Sad but I think its true.:(
This is a possibility though wouldn't it have been more logical to tell me to quit vaping, let me buy my stuff and be gone? Last I heard it was never a good thing for a retail business to lose a customer, espcially now days. Even walmart needs their customers

ohhhh walmart! i also believe that they are starting to get used to vapers!

did he get the star wars darth "VAPER" legos? lol

LOL ... anything else I could say in response to that just sounds dumb :p

Personally, I would wear shoes in WalMart - especially in WalMart. Some of the people that I see in WalMart are just gross and I want all the protection I can get between me and anything they've ever touched!

Sounds like the lady was a little strict though. Maybe based on your age, appearance, vaping, the fact that you have a boyfriend, etc... this lady had it out for you. She probably leads a sad, sorry, lonely life and was exercising her one outlet of power and control - you just happened to be the only target around then.

I guess her old 5'4 220+lb wrinkly skinned frizzy haired self might have it out for a young girl like me with a bf as cute as mine... though jealousy isn't necessarily something I'm used to.. I'm more likely to chalk it up to her being bored and having nothing better to do.. probably .... hurt she was working night shift that night and couldn't be out getting smashed or soemthing and the bf and I were giggling like a couple of little kids about coloring books and legos :D

Either way.. I appreciate all the opinions... I just needed to vent a bit lol.. I just cant manage to get over the fact that she was all on about the no shoes thing when I was vaping in the store. I'd thought surely if I were to catch hell about something it would have been that...to my knowledge that was the first time I've ever been escorted out of a store... been asked to leave for being hyper and annoying when I was a kid, refused entry countless times, asked to leave the mall once over one of my favorite shirts (that one got ignored :p ) but never escorted out like a criminal .... makes me feel less guilty for all bad things i used to do in walmart when I was a kid

I understand that. I too follow that rule, however you'd be surprised at how many people would say, "Well you shouldn't have broken glass on the floor." Which i'm sure you know that already. I'm really sorry to hear that you were asked to leave shortly before leaving. And if you had stepped on something like glass, there would have been blood on the floor. And regardless of anything you say, they have to fill out an accident report, which can cost anywhere up to 50,000 to come off their profits, even without a legal claim being made. I'm not defending how that was handled. Most likely it was the vaping though.

No pity for stupidity? Please your statements are nothing but stupid! I to live in AZ. and enjoy walking barefoot however even 3 year olds know that you need shoes when you enter an establishment! C'mon common sense please. Second why vape in Walmart? Don't you understand the Goverment is trying to shut us down? Why don't we stop giving them the fuel to do so. I apologize for my fellow Arizonian we are not all as careless and unthinking (read redneck) as this person seems to be.

My first instinct to comments such as this from people like your self is typically to react with aggression and condescending remarks, typically aimed at the extent of your mental fortitude; however I think in the interest of being the bigger person, not stooping to childish levels, and proving yet again that there are still people on this forum that know how to get along - I will simply thank you for your interest in responding to my post and state that while we may not agree on certain points (or rather any that you attempted to make) we should agree to disagree in order to remain civil with one another and I will also remind you that aggressive/angry/offensive posts should always be in the "outside" section of this forum. As a new member I'm sure that you may not know all of the rules but you may want to take the time to read them in order to prevent yourself from receiving negitive marks from moderaters (or worse, banned) Have a nice day & Happy vaping :thumb:

Why not vape at Walmart, if we act like smokers, then we'll be treated as if we were smokers and banned from public view. Just saying....

I actually had to read this a couple of times.. i thought it was directed at me... However i don't think that makes someone a redneck. Now, if you don't own any shoes, then you just might be a redneck. don't know about not wearing shoes. I live in texas, and have a family member or two that are rednecks. But they own and wear shoes.

Personal favorite: If you mow your grass, and find your car. You might be a redneck.

Lol, actually no laws here requiring shoes anywhere besides restaurants. Not to mention.. If you saw my feet, you would understand why I don't worry about glass or anything else, I haven't had a piece of glass manage to get through my calluses in like 5 years lol. I used to skateboard barefoot when I was a kid  (lol I know.. grose isn't it :p)

If you're not in your own home, or at the beach, you need to wear shoes. Any adult knows that. Grow up. This has nothing to do with vaping. Common sense says, "Wear shoes."

I never heard commons sense say that? And what does growing up have to do with it?

But you are right it has nothing to do with vaping.

I know it's a few days late... I don't really surf the forum much on the weekends... but to clarify:

It has to do with vaping in regards to the fact that no one noticed the vaping.. they noticed the bare feet under pants that almost drag the ground... I found it a bit odd and amusing the way they ignored what I felt would surely be the reason for any confrontation that I might encounter and instead attacked what I thought what surly be ignored. .. so yes it did involve vaping and the thread simply went more to the other direction. These things tend to take on a mind of their own

Yes, we realize your intent, but we can't help but berate you for not wearing shoes. Especially in Phoenix, it doesn't really rain so crap that is on the ground doesn't get washed away. It's common sense that you'd want to wear shoes, and even more so in a retail establishment.

But then again, you sound like a typical Walmart patron.

I love the way you point out that it doesn't really rain in Phoenix... Really? Living in Arizona for the last 9years I never noticed the lack of rainfall I really do appreciate you pointing that out.

As for your failed attempt at underhanded insults...
You say these things as I'm concerned about your opinion of me. Have I at some point accidentally given the misconception that I'm at all concerned about what anyone thinks of me? If so I sincerely apologize for that.

Finally, As a new member of the forum I would think that you would be more concerned with retaining information and possibly even making friends within the forum rather than randomly attempting to insult those you know nothing about.

Have a nice day & happy vaping
