The reason why they do not want you without shoes on, is becuase if there is an accident, ie you step on glass, they get hit with a HUGE fee. Too many of these, it doesn't take many, and the store gets no bonus, which is upwards to $420 every 3 months paid to each associate. Might not sound like much to some, but to a walmart associate its almost a free check (Walmart pays every 2 weeks, so that's 80 hours).
HOWEVER, i wouldn't not have left without talking to the co-manager of the store about being done shopping and wanting to pay for your stuff. There are co-managers there 24/7. Also if that didn't help i would have called the store manager, who's number is posted at customer service.
Yes, i work at walmart.![]()
I really don't think about things like them getting fined/sued/losing bonuses or anything like that. I guess it's fact I was raised under a "no pitty for stupidity" philosophy, if you walk around barefoot your responsible for what happens to you, including stepping on glass. I would never complain about it if it were to happen when I was barefoot, my own fault for not wearing shoes. Even still, I don't argue her right to kick me out, I argue the rudeness behind it, OK fair enough be a B*tch to me if I'm causing problems or being rude or whatever but I was minding my own business. As for the manager thing, I chalk that sort of thing up to a waste of time, best case scenario I'd have been there an extra 30min (more time than it took to go to the other store) and gotten an "oops we're sorry" and been allowed to pay for my stuff... worst case I'd be accused of causing a scene, banned from the store, or worse had the cops called on me becuase someone's on a power trip, and cops just make me nervous (even though I have a spotless criminal record) better to grin n bare it and get on with my day
This is a possibility though wouldn't it have been more logical to tell me to quit vaping, let me buy my stuff and be gone? Last I heard it was never a good thing for a retail business to lose a customer, espcially now days. Even walmart needs their customersI don't think it had anything to do with shoes at all. She wanted you out of the store for vaping in there and that was the only thing she could come up with at the moment. She abused her authority by enforcing a non-existent store policy instead of asking that you stop vaping while in the store. Sad but I think its true.![]()
ohhhh walmart! i also believe that they are starting to get used to vapers!
did he get the star wars darth "VAPER" legos? lol
LOL ... anything else I could say in response to that just sounds dumb
Personally, I would wear shoes in WalMart - especially in WalMart. Some of the people that I see in WalMart are just gross and I want all the protection I can get between me and anything they've ever touched!
Sounds like the lady was a little strict though. Maybe based on your age, appearance, vaping, the fact that you have a boyfriend, etc... this lady had it out for you. She probably leads a sad, sorry, lonely life and was exercising her one outlet of power and control - you just happened to be the only target around then.
I guess her old 5'4 220+lb wrinkly skinned frizzy haired self might have it out for a young girl like me with a bf as cute as mine... though jealousy isn't necessarily something I'm used to.. I'm more likely to chalk it up to her being bored and having nothing better to do.. probably .... hurt she was working night shift that night and couldn't be out getting smashed or soemthing and the bf and I were giggling like a couple of little kids about coloring books and legos
Either way.. I appreciate all the opinions... I just needed to vent a bit lol.. I just cant manage to get over the fact that she was all on about the no shoes thing when I was vaping in the store. I'd thought surely if I were to catch hell about something it would have been that...to my knowledge that was the first time I've ever been escorted out of a store... been asked to leave for being hyper and annoying when I was a kid, refused entry countless times, asked to leave the mall once over one of my favorite shirts (that one got ignored
