Well, yes and no.
I quit drinking 22 years ago, fell off the wagon a couple times... haven't had a drink in 14 years.
I never followed the program though... did it myself. At the time, there was too much of a stigma attached for comfort with my job, so I did it the hard way.
I now work in a bar on weekends (have for the last 5 years) and contrary to what a lot of people might think, it doesn't temp me to drink... matter of fact, I see the sloppy stupid drunks and am reminded that I used to be one, and I am thankful that I'm not anymore.

Yeah...Dr. Bob and Bill W. both saved my life also. Have 6 yrs. sober (best years of my life). Just noticed...you're near Akron (birthplace of our Founders- That's Awesome!!)
Same here, Bill W. and Dr. Bob saved mine, too. Are we gonna make a sub-social forum? I know where I'll be hanging out if we do. I got my new leese on life Jun 4, 1997, had 3 one day slips, and got right back on track again...one day at a time.

I think it'd be cool to start a little sub-group (as long as the site admin. are cool w/ it); as long as people feel comfortable with the anonymity factor. I've got nothing to hide...hell, I don't even have to hide from the Police anymore!! Anyway, did you notice how many people looked at the thread that I started...so...there may be a few more of us out there...just not ready to "trudge the road to happy destiny"! Let me know what others think...I think it would be cool to support one another. We have alot in common obviously

A friend of mine handed his down to me. The circle I run with, we buy each other really pretty medallions. We keep them until someone we know reaches that milestone, then pass it on. I am waiting to see one that gets around and comes back to the circle - like a dollar bill.
Yeah, I grew up here. Had no idea of the history until I got sober. Anybody coming up for Founder's Day? We could get together and vape whilst visiting the sites. I'll give ya a private tour of Akron.
Sendit, I think our own subforum would be cool. I think the site admin. would be ok with it - they are usually pretty easy going and supportive.
January 26th 1989 is my date...I own and operate recovery Houses...Half Measures Incorporated...Im from Trenton but live in the Jersey shore are at the moment...Feels good to know there are others present

It's easy enough to set up. Vendors may not be able to join though... I've had a couple interested in The Laboratory and it wouldn't let them join.
Well ive been in the fellowship from my first meeting about 19 years took me another 12 to get sober.. I must admit since getting so heavily involved with this business my meetings have took a severe drop. Not good for me really.. Why not a discount...
