I smoked hookah in college occasionally and cigars now as part of ladder climbing hob-knobing. I got a couple of disposable e-cigs at a gas station and liked it. Now I vape while I program, more often on late nights. Right now I'm using 18mg nic just cause I got it free with and order.

And you don't get a headache from that? I had an 11mg disposable and it was too much nic. ugh. Try lower nic mixes it's more fun IMHO.

Re experiments and sample sizes, without a control group and a controlled environment it isn't a true experiment, and without this and true defined variables, there is absolutely no scientific basis.

One can't just survey a group of people and make a conclusion. Furthermore, correlation is NOT causation. Even if you sampled a hundred people and they all had one single issue after the variable being introduced it is not enough to consider causation. You have to define your population first and 100 people one time (or even a larger sample) without proper framework is absolutely useless, unscientific, and proves nothing.

I have been wondering this same thing myself; how many non-smokers have started vaping?

I am a non-smoker and started vaping. I got pneumonia and was online researching things that help pneumonia and came across vaporizers and PG as things that may help. But, I have little kids and didn't want to put a dangerous vaporizer in the house so I bought e-cigs to get some vapor into my lungs.

I LOVE THEM!

I always liked to chew on straws, coffee stir sticks, pen caps, and gum. I also like hobbies, to collect things, and electronic gadgets. I just simply love vaping. It's one of the best hobbies I have ever taken up. It's like having a calorie free snack anytime I want it.

I would NEVER take up analogs; not even a slight chance of it. I originally ordered my vape kit with 6mg nic -- I was fearful that if I ordered 0mg I may not experience the proper taste. But I think I am going to start ordering my ejuice at 0mg from now on.

As for the side effects? My throat and lips are definitely dry. I have gone with 100% VG or very high VG products because I can't figure out why someone would want a 'throat hit'. I love watching big vapor and tasting big flavor. By the way, I can't stand cigarette flavors and primarily stick to sweet flavors such as the fruits. I do believe that vaping has helped me overcome pneumonia more quickly and pleasantly.

Not sure whether or not I'll ever quit the 0mg nic vaping; only time will tell. My wife thinks I'm strange; and I never vape in front of family, clients, etc. It's great going into a bathroom and secretly hitting the vapors a couple times!

Yeah, I don't get the "throat hit" either and I even smoked for two years. But I do like tobacco flavors. I started with e-cigs because after 5+ years of quitting I still missed smoking. I've always had a love hate relationship with the habit. I missed going for smoke breaks and looking forward to a smoke after breakfast.

I use 0mg mostly VG juice. I tried 6mg (diluted down to 3mg) but the nicotine just makes my face hurt or gives me a headache. So, I stick to the nic. free stuff.

It's amazing how many people these types of products have helped. My favorite uncle recently died of lung cancer at only 54, his 93-year-old mother had to burry him. No one should ever have to burry their own child. I wish these had been around for him, he would have loved them! He always liked gadgets and things he could "mod" (like his motorcycle.) He would have been all over this forum with the craziest and best mods ever. Well nothing can bring him back but maybe some other smokers will get out before too much damage is done with the help of this product.

I (and some friends) have already purchased a set for a college at work who smokes. A few of us did it anonymously (but he knows it's us I bet) We got him the same 510T system I use since I know it's a good balance of performance and analog feel. This all started when we were out for a friday crawl and I (I'm known as a non-smoker) started smoking my 510T.

"Is it good?"
"yeah"
"How would you know you don't smoke"
"I used to smoke a long time ago"
"So is it good?"
"Oh Yeah. It's not just good it's better."

So we decided to get one for our co-worker who we all know smokes too much (my friends are social smokers).

I was gobsmaked with delight when I bumped in to him today on the roof (favorite smoking spot, gorgeous view of the NYC skyline) holding his e-cigarette. He looked at me in shock and said "You smoke???"

"I do now."

:2cool:

Anyway, I'm from Cleveland too! Shaker Heights, though I live in NYC now for 10 years.

... 510T system I use...

Quick tangent; sorry (I should PM you?). I desperately want to use the tanks, but I've heard you can't burn pure VG in them... are you burning VG in them? Also, what is your 510T system? I'm about to buy a 510 (thinking Joye) and can't decide on eGo, 510, or 510-T. But I like burning pure VG w/ no nicotine.

I have Joye 510T. I burn pure and 80/20 VG in them and so far it's fine, but I have seen warning that you need at least 20% PG. I'm not really an expert on this, but everything has been fine for me with this system for almost three weeks. (Before this system I had a few "apollo" disposables.)

So I may be ruining my equipment. I ordered some 0 mg PG and I plan to cut everything to 20 percent... also I'm vigilant about cleaning.

If VG isn't viable with the Joye 510T I'll have to find another cig! The VG smoke is so think and sift... it's lovely.

Ive been vaping for 7 months with 0 nicotine... have never smoked a cigarette in my life.

Same with me; do you love it? I do! In fact, seriously looking into upgrading to more powerful model. I want big flavor & big vapor! However, I actually enjoy small cartridges because I like to switch flavors a few times per day. What aspects do you enjoy in vaping?

I hope you don't mind me answering too. :)

I like, and have always liked, the way that smoking/vaping forces you to focus on your breathing. This is a relaxation technique used in many forms of yoga. It's also a big reason why smoking/vaping makes people feel "relaxed"

The risks of analog smoke are too great to make this benefit worth it, but with vapor I think it is.

I also like watching the smoke, it's calming to watch it float and curl.

I like the fact that it means I need to go outside at work one or twice a day, I get to stand and look at the city, nature, the weather.

My most recent happy vaping moment was standing in under the eves during a brilliant thunderstorm. In NYC it's easy to feel detached from nature and the weather, but I have at least two times a day where I just stand and think about it.

I also like the chance meetings and conversations with other smokers and vapers.

I see more and more vaping every single day in NYC.

I smoked for 27 years (averaging around 5 cigarettes per day) and those are the exact reasons why I smoked.

Well, there are three more reasons I would throw in...
--Something to do with my hands
--A reason to escape uncomfortable situations
--Drinking alchohol

:)

I want to write an article on the benefits of switching to ecigarettes to improve respiratory function. I want to be aware of any risks of respiratory problems from e-cigs.

The primary constituent in most e-liquid is propylene glycol. In your line of work, yo're pretty familiar with that, right? What problems does it cause?

Interestingly enough, I went to a new Vapor store here in Buffalo, and all their e-juices are VG unless otherwise requested. They sell Joye eGo-T and 510-T and say they never have any problems burning pure VG in them. But, time will tell. Please keep us posted on how long your atty lasts with the tank system.

Not trying to be a ........., but the word "burn" is just as incorrect as calling the vapor "smoke" because nothing is burning.
It may seem inconsequential, but it is in fact a critical difference.

Education can have a major impact by influencing legislation that attempts to ban electronic cigarettes wherever smoking is banned.
It is important to our continued freedom to use these devices that we do not use words that give the wrong impression.

The media, the public, and the legislators all need to know and understand that there is no smoke, because there is no combustion.
So because nothing is burning, the potential harm to bystanders is essentially eliminated.

Therefore, banning them wherever smoking is banned makes no sense.
