Has anybody else here bought a starting setup and been happy with that?

Because I honestly think I could be happy with a few basic ego batteries and some basic clearos... I mean, I think I could be happy with what I got (a cheap blister pack eGo 1300 starter kit, a back-up, and some standard cheap atomisers.) I did succumb to buying a Kanger Square 1 because it was pretty... but now that I figured out why the atomisers were leaking (user error), I don't know if I need ever upgrade. I even like all the juices I've tried.

I'm not sure I see the need to even try to understand the point of variable this and resistance that.

Anybody else the same? Or do such people not post on the forums because it's not a hobby for them?

Blu => not happy
// found this place and looked on youtube
iTaste => happy
Vamo v3 => even more happy

If you are happy with the basics that is awesome for you and should be easy on the wallet going forward. So far everything I have tried and bought has been better than the last - worries me as I look at the provari :oops:

I feel that the companies that sell their "pen-style or cigalike" kits & pre-filled cartos only prey on beginners not knowing any better. Once you move toward more powerful batteries and/or mods, buy your own juice and whatever atty suits you, it starts to make sense. Even more important, you gain confidence in getting away from cigarettes.
For most hardcore cigarette smokers, the cigalikes are not going to do the trick.

I've been happy with my initial eGo purchase. I read the forums and continue having a lot of confusion about all the equipment people talk about. I started this journey in hopes of quitting cigarettes. I have not smoked in 30+ days so I'm thrilled. For me, instead of looking for new shiny parts, I try differing juices. I seem to understand when almost empty, refill. I'm pretty simple and simple is allowing me not to smoke.

Totally agree, as a heavy smoker that was my experience as well. Much as hated the Blu, I am thankful as it did get me interested in finding out more

At home, I was using an Ego Twist and Evods until a couple weeks ago. I'm using an Innokin MVP now mostly for the battery life and form factor. I can't see myself getting gear much more elaborate than that.

I never got heavily into the numbers thing of wattage and resistance -- it's worthwhile to know a bit about it, and to have gear where you can play with settings a bit. If there are reasons for a person to learn the numbers in depth beyond punching the flavor up or down, I'm not really interested. On an Ego Twist, my aging eyes can't even see the numbers without a jewelers loupe -- I just dial till it tastes good.
I think of things like variable voltage this way: I don't need anything more than a one-temperature hotplate to cook an edible dinner. Half the stuff I eat, I don't even need that much. But having a stove and oven with variable temperatures just gives me options for a more appealing meals.

Outside my apartment through the day, I normally just carry around several 510 manual stick batteries with cartomizers -- basically what you'd find in two $30 starter kits. It's the majority of my vaping in the course of a day, and has been for almost 3 months since I started. I have no particular need to change that.

That's because, regardless of the gear, we're all doing it right if it keeps us satisfied, interested, happy.

I vaped three blu disposables and found this forum. I put my order in for a Provari and got it last Saturday. While waiting for the
Provari to arrive, I watched videos on the tanks I got (Protank II, Vision Vivi Nova). When the mailman dropped off my supplies, I followed the directions from the videos, and I was happily vaping in twenty minutes. I have a science background and work in a lab where we have to know how to read protocols and modify them if necessary.

I've always been the spearhead of the group, being the first to adopt/find a new hobby. I've done this with reloading ammo, bicycle wheel building, and flying r/c helicopters.

I like to tell people, "A smart man learns from his mistakes. A wise man learns fromthe mistakes of others."

I was going to buy an eGo setu,p but I figured I'd outgrow that. I saved up a little and got the last device I'll need for a long time. It has everything I want: Quality craftsmanship, robust build, reliable performance, and a warranty with excellent customer service to ensure this things keeps working.

I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I haven't had major problems with any of my gear. Of course I've had things taste burnt and leak at times, but I like puzzles. I've taken clearos apart that weren't designed to be, cut open cartomizers, pulled little plastic bits off all trying to figure out how they were supposed to work and why they didn't.

I started with a Green Smoke kit, but returned it after a couple of days. I liked it okay, but they sent me tobacco flavor instead of the menthol I ordered. The tobacco tasted a little like coconut and I wondered if there might be coconut flavor cartridges somewhere. Google, Google, Bad Plan Green smoke, if they had sent me what I wanted, I'd likely still be using it.

I bought a 650mAh eGo kit and some 306 dripping attys after watching a video on youtube. It was the old foam filled cartridge/atty system. I liked it and I learned to drip with the kit attys and the 306s. I then wanted something that held more liquid, so I got some CE4s and a mini Vivi Nova. They leaked a little, burned a little, but I figured it out. I then, however, learned about "tanker cracker" juices. My favorite juice killed everything.

It was around that time I found ECF and Baditude walked me through putting a glass carto tank together, so I could vape my juice. It looked a little big on my 650mAh, so I bought a 1000mAh, then a Twist a few weeks later. That was all I used for 6 months.

At 6 months tobacco-free I wanted to give myself a special present. I did a lot of research and bought a ProVari. Outside of adding a couple of Protanks, that was my main set-up. I have bought other devices since then, but I bought them for fun, like my Bobo.

At one year I again want a special present and bought 2 bottom-feeders. I had never used one before and it seemed like a fun thing to try. I bought a wooden one as a piece of art and a Reo to use.

My eGos and clearos have been PIF'd for the most part, they all still work, by the way. I vape a ProVari with carto tanks, a Protank or dripping and I use dripping attys on my Reo (a couple of which are from my original purchase).

Long story long, and it's all about me, but I don't think my journey has been very complicated.

Well yes and no. I started with a couple of Ego Twists and some T3 clearomizers. Then I got some Evods and was even happier. Then I got some Vision spinners with larger batteries. Then I started getting into Protanks. Still very happy with my setup and still use all of it, but that doesn't mean I'm not upgrading to a ProVari.

I didn't get it right the first time. LOL I started out with a mall kiosk and found I didn't like those e-cigs.. just didn't do anything for me and lead me to smoke even more than I already was. Ordered a Halo G6 and I like it, but don't use it much then got an Kanger Evod starter kit and found myself using this all the time. So yes.. went through some learning curve mistakes. i have a friend who wants to start and I'm taking her direct to EVOD starter kit since she keeps using mine! I've recently got some Mini Protanks 2 and love them for my tank cracker juices. :) Will I stay with this? I probably will keep with the EVODs since I like them.. but get a variable battery. At this time I don't feel the need to upgrade to something bigger.

My husband went through the learning curve--he started vaping 3 years ago--so he directed me to the eGo 900 battery w/the 510 SmokeTech carts. I'm good to go. Three weeks into it and I feel no need to upgrade. I started vaping just to give it a shot, and I quit smoking cigarettes w/o even trying within the first couple of days. No need to burn a lot of money upgrading since this basic setup works for me.

Definitely not me the wife and I started with ego 650may batteries and non rebuild clearos the. The clearest soon got worn out and replaced with the same design but replaceable coils. I upgraded my battery to a 1000mah ego then two days later to a 1100 twist. So we could both have larger batteries. Then ordered a gaggle of tanks from fasttech to try out the best of the group being the t3s < excellent for the money btw. And a couple of protank. Month or so passes and I ordered the vamo v3 the wife was very reluctant to step up based on the size but as soon as I got mine she decided she liked it a lot. So a week later we got her a sigelei vmax telescopic.

For juices neither of us fell in live with store bought juices so a rather large order of flavors and bases was ordered. And we are now trying to find that perfect taste.

So all in all we have dumped in excess of $400 into vaping, but this is over 3 months of quitting a $300+ a month habit. So while it sounds bad actually we have still saved around 500 by not smoking and more importantly we both feel 100% better.

Long story short? If you are serious about sticking to it and quitting get nicer stuff out of the gate. The response I got from the wife. That I think many people think when they have issues... buying a pack and lighting one up is easier.

I usually get everything right the first time. Then I want more, and get it right, then I want more, and get it right. Then I discovered rba's, and each build, so far, I got right the first time too. So I guess I don't really understand your question. Unless you mean by getting it right that I am not a smoker any more, which I got right the first time I started to vape. lol

First time around 3 years ago I spent $1800 on equipment and juice. After 9 months it was just too much of a PITA, (equipment back then was not as nice as it in now), so I went back to the stinkies. Now I have started vaping again, and there is all this COOL stuff to try. Still havent found my juice, but the equipment is the bomb.... Even so, with my Primary, backups, and backups of my backup, I am aproching $500 on equipment and liquid. But it is enough to last for many months, and will be paid for in 6 to 7 weeks with the savings of not smoking. I even got one kit because it just LOOKED COOL.
