i've had 2 different 808 batteries, a mega manual and an auto smoketip. so far i'm preferring the smoketip by leaps and bounds. very good th and flavor. i've refilled a few cartos so far and no troubles whatsoever. the draw is very smooth too, not too tight but not sucking air through a straw either. their batteries are more expensive but they have a lifetime warranty. if you kill one just clean it up and nobody is the wiser ;).

Iv'e got my SMoore kr8 today.... They are a bit to airy, theres only one hole in the batt, but its kinda big. Good thing is that it works perfectly nice if you just have your fingers near the threads, holding it like a cig. So far I can vape and vape without performance dying. The pcc is very cool, with indicator that tells you how much power is left on the actual case... That is VERY nice..( takes kangers too, but only shortys...)
Down side is your still not totally hands free...unless you like a very airy draw..

Update....they activate on their own, like the 901's......If you blow on it, tap it, or just shake it, LED goes on... So not getting more of those..... Bummer...

Well, I got one from myvaporstore and it worked right out of the box, but now it's already getting intermittant. One drag it's fine, the next it won't do anything, wait a minute, it's fine again.

Also, now my XL manual is acting up. Push the button and it works about 1/2 a second and stops heating. If I keep on dragging it'll sputter a little heat, but that's it. Geez, I would just like something dependable at this point.

I prefer the LR cartos, so I guess I shouldn't use an auto anyway? Well heck, the LR wouldn't work on my auto anyway.

The whole thing is pretty frustrating.

Well your in USA.. why don't try Bloog? They've just launched a new and updated 808... My Smoores still vape fine.. they don't need these breakes like the Kangers.. Using them allmost exclusevly even though they activate on noise..
My manuals do the same thing... Must be Kangers you got there?
I'm gonna keep trying with the autos. Now I've tried some that work, I really hate the button thing again..

The Bloogs certainly look interesting. If everything they say is true then they would be great. Here's hoping it's not just marketing hype.

I love autos. I tried both kinds, and for the last six months I've been exclusively auto. If you get one that doesn't work, it's due to the quality of the one you got becuase the design is sound and pretty robust. The four I have work flawlessly. One I don't use any more because I was careless with it and it got all scratched and pitted from carrying it my pocket with keys, but even that one still works.

I did have an issue with one of these where the draw got really hard. The tiny air holes where the two pieces meet were clogged. One straightened staple pushed into the holes freed it up and the draw returned to normal. Now I just check once in awhile to make sure no crap is building up, and give them a little cleaning if needed. Manuals are ok too, but I 100% prefer the autos.

I have two standard 808s, 1 XL, and an XL PT, all automatic. Haven't had any kind of problem with them (yet).

I tried a manual, but it just wasn't for me -- I need the 'smoking experience' more than I need the nicotine, and that means something I can hold like an analog and puff whenever I want without having to think about it.

i have one auto, it's a V4L standard size. it's all i use, even tho i have a standard, short, and XL manual. the auto works perfectly. they all work well, actually. but i can't stand the placement of the manual button on any manual, so i rarely use them. this auto works like a champ. i plan to get more. also, i have an extremely loud truck, and have not seen it light up on its own. i don't know if this was an issue ever, but i'm not experiencing a problem with loud noise activating it.

i DO believe that the quick primer-puff-to-long, easy draw is the best technique when using it.

i have to amend my previous comment.

while my first auto, the (unpainted) one i described above, is still working perfectly; i acquired another auto in regular, and a shorty, from V4L.

the shorty will not work with all cartos. it appears its not contacting the center part of the atty. i can feel the threads bottom out when screwing it in, which is different from the other batts where when you screw it in you feel it "snug up" tightly.

and the standard is having an intermittent function issue. it seems it is picky about which direction you hold it while drawing. so i'd suspect the switch is at issue. both of these are black with the crown logo.

i plan to send them back to V4L to request assistance if i can't get any results with this trick i just found:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-center-conductor-gap-penstyle-atomizers.html

now that i've used the shorty auto, i want more. the balance of the assembly is much better. the standard length is a little too front heavy, and i've had it slip out of my hand a few times. hopefully they're addressing the issue of non-contact = no vapor.

I just skimmed through this thread, so sorry if I'm posting something that's already been said, but...
I have (3) of the regular length auto batts from V4L and they've been great so far. The (2) standard black ones that came with the starter kit, and one of their new "diamond tip" ones. They hold a charge for the better part of the day (I'd say mine last 12+ hours) and have a good draw.
