I wonder what a GG would look in:

Mike Norris Damascus, or maybe a little Copper Mokume:

How about some Damasteel

Or Chad Nichols Moku-Ti

That would be truly amazing... I would totally be willing to properly care for it. Affording the steel for it... well that's a whole different story. You would probably have to find an artisan metal smith (or do it yourself, hope you have a lot of time and sweat equity and it comes out in a pleasing pattern) to make the quantity of damascus to make a GG. But it would totally be worth it :)

Damascus can't be made into a solid rod and the metal structure is exposed by grinding. It could be pounded flat and then rolled into a tube but then it would have to be welded before being machined. It also tends to be work hardended during the hammering process which is good for knives, bad for machining...

Great info, Torque...and more reason to go with TITANIUM!!!

Especially since Ti doesn't rust and is "hypoallergenic". I don't know about its conductive properties, however.

You can make stainless damascus. They also hammer it out of spiraled, ss wire rope. My thought is flatening, then hammer welding around a hardened mandrel

The steel has to be at 1400f, pounded flat then squared off and wound over a mandrel.

Then you centerless grind and etch, internal grind and machine as normal.

Sounds like you gave this some real thought. So when are you starting? Btw...I believe Damasteel (the actual product) is very high stainless content. If you could tell me what would work best I could speak to Michael Burch or Chad Nichols.
