It took me about 6 weeks to completely stop smoking, but that's ok, I wasn't planning to quit. The number of cigs gradually decreased during that period, and for the last couple of weeks i was smoking 0-2 cigs a day. I haven't smoked since last December. Not too shabby after 30+ years and 1 1/2 packs a day.

Give yourself time, and remember that every cig avoided is a win. If the cravings stay really strong even when using higher levels (24-36 mg/ml) you might want to check out the other alternatives to smoking subforum.

Thanks CES and everybody else!

GEEEZ 24-36mg?!

I started out at 8mg juice (I was smoking ultra-lights), should I have requested a higher dosage?

It took me about two weeks to drop the analogs. I started as a way to just cut back and be able to smoke at work. At the end of the first week I noticed that I wasn't craving the analogs anymore. The day I got a decent model, I had a pack left and just smoked them to get rid of them. I didn't enjoy them as much as I used to, so when they were gone, I never missed them.

One of the things that threw me off at first was there really is no comparison between vaping and smoking. No e-liquid is going to taste and feel like a Marlboro. I was expecting it to be closer and was a little disappointed at first. However, the taste and flavor grew on me from ecigs. The more I did it, the more I liked it and the less I thought about lighting up. I've been analog free for two weeks this monday. I had one day when I thought about analogs, but I took a few drags of my 510 and they passed quickly.

Don't worry. This isn't one of the programs where you have to set a date. Just take the time and learn how to use the device and pick up on the tricks that the members here offer. You'll lose interest in analogs on your own clock.

btw - I should I add that I believe fully that you shouldn't 'ban' cigs from your life - it jsut makes them more taboo and thus more tempting. If you want one, have one, just don't have a pack.
If you want to give up then you will, in your OWN time, and if you don't then you won't - its really as simple as that. Smoking less should be your goal, anything else comes as a bonus :)

I'm not one to draw into my lungs, I take a small (or full) hit to my mouth and go from there

A mod running at 6v will allow you to do mouth inhales and still get a lot of vapour. That said, once you get used to vape inhaling, you might find it superior to the analog-puffing method.

I especially like a long direct inhale when using peppermint or menthol juice. Warm vape, icy throat hit.

And I echo pretty much everything CaptJay. He has much wisdom. Which is probably why he was promoted to captain.

I had cravings the first couple of weeks, and am too old now to use my teenage method which consisted of a .... toke everytime I wanted an analog. I've found the nic fix works really well for me, and I use aqueous glycerine to increase vapor production to give me the illusion of smoking. I haven't smoked one analog since I started vaping. Everyone's different, but I had a different motivator this time- my wife was pregnant.

I've been vaping for almost 3 weeks now and I definitely still want to smoke analogues. The smell of other people doing it is enticing. One of the things that keeps me from doing it is the feeling afterwards. I actually smoked one for the first time in 3 weeks a couple nights ago and it was horrible. It's amazing how much your sense of taste gets more sensitive when you're off the analogues. Also, the coating of your mouth and lungs just feels nasty. Kind of like spray painting your insides with gunk.

Yes, you don't get as much nicotene as you would think. I started with 36 for a few months. Cut back to 24, and now I'm going back to 18. I have several friends that started out too low and had problems untill they bumped it up.

I'm one of those people who, 3-4 months in, still smokes about five cigarettes a day (down from a pack right before, and more in certain phases of a 40-year habit). Of the ones I smoke, the two I have in the morning, one right after the other, with coffee and computer are the ones I truly enjoy. The others, not so much usually. What's odd is-- even if I've been nicotine-deprived for a whole afternoon, that get-in-the-car-and-light-up cigarette that used to feel like it was saving my life now makes me feel a tad queasy. All and all, I have an easy time envisioning myself cutting down further to those two morning cigarettes (I will not call them "analogs," btw). Not so easy to envision a 100% quit for me. But maybe...

Paul B-5 is so much better than a pack. Good for you. I really wanted to still have one cigarette here and there, because I really enjoyed them, my body just didn't agree. I didn't start vapeing to quit smoking, I wanted to "smoke" in our new house and in the car with the hubby. Little did i know that I would quit cigarettes all together.

One thing I have found by vaping is it ruins the smoking habit. I would smoke 1 every night for a while. Then it got where it made me sick. This was a year ago. I haven't had a regular cigarette in 10 months. I still keep a pack (don't know why) I guess just to let me know I am completely off of cigarettes. some people still feel the need to smoke some but at least they have cut back.

It sounds like you started at the right level for you!
Someone who smokes full in general would start with 24mg. & lights 12mg.

It's a lot habit so you will not change it all overnight.

Oh, please. Many people, including me, do not think cigarettes taste like crap after vaping. To me, they still taste great. After a year, I still smoke at least one a day and love it. It is still better than 20 a day I smoked for over 40 years.

I have only has a PV 3 weeks & had a menthol cig. yesterday- still tastes great.

I didn't say all people thought they tasted bad, just me ;) The taste was like licking an ashtray IMHO.

Haha, I have been vaping for about 9 days now and decided to try an analog again to see what it tastes like now. Took one small drag, and it's confirmed, tastes like an ashtray, now I can't get this god awful taste out of my mouth. 8-o

I never thought I would ever dislike the taste of analogs. Was I wrong about that one!

Yeah that could definitely be part of the problem. Everyone is different, but I smoked just under a pack of full flavor cigs daily, and when I switched I was happiest with 24mg.

Don't get discouraged. I'm like you as well. When I first started vaping I craved the act of smoking too. And what I did is just gradually ween myself down to just vaping. The first day I was still smoking the same amount and the second day about 3/4 the same etc etc. Now at a month and taking a puff or two off of a cigarette a day, sometimes I forget completely. Good luck!
