I got a broken A7 included in a classifieds purchase. It has the bottom center pin adjustment screw broken off inside the center post. I do not know of anywhere to get a replacement screw so I have not spent a lot of time trying to get the broken one out yet. Longshot I know but I thought I would mention it here and see if by chance someone knew of a source for one?

It's not a big deal as they are so inexpensive and its still useful to rob parts off of but I hate having a broken one, I simply can not have something broken and NOT try to fix it. The way I am wired I guess.

Getting the old broken center pin out may be fun  but once you do...

I'm looking at my center screw now (took it out)...it's basically a small slotted cap screw, if you took what was left to an industrial fastener place and matched the threads...if you have access to a drill press all you would have to do is cut the new cap screw to length and drill a hole through the center, easier said than done but with a good quality drill bit, very do-able...

I just bought a A-7 here for $13.99 on sale: Phoenix/A7 Rebuildable Atomizer

Shipping $3.95

Yup I did as well, just got it yesterday. Ordered it saturday. That's fast! As I mentioned, they are so inexpensive it is hardly worth worrying over fixing one, I just like to tinker when I can.

They were running it at $12.99. Missed that by one day! But still a great price!

I bought an A7 about 3 weeks ago and found that it leaked in the catch cup, gurgled and was easy to flood. So I changed it.

Drilled a hole in the cap just above the inside threads. Started with a .030 Dia hole, but the draw was way to tight. Then tried a .0435 (1.10 mm) Dia hole and the draw is just a bit tighter than I like, but it's OK. I was afraid to go to a .050 Dia hole because that is a substantial increase and the draw could be too loose. I might try a .0453 (1.15 mm) Dia hole.

The center post screw at the 510 connector end of the A7 is not for air adjustment, but for reaching the center post on the mod connector. It's a good thing it has that adjustment screw on it because after putting an o-ring (#7 or #41 Danco at Home Depot) in the catch cup on my VVG, it raised the A7 a little and I had to lower (unscrew) the screw a little to touch the center post on the VVG connector. Also, I put a few thin washers under the screw head so I could tighten it, however I had to turn some material off the O.D. of the washers to the Dia of the screw head. BTW, the hole is positioned approx perpendicular to the center line of the positive and negative wire posts after the cap is screwed on.

With these mods to the A7, there is no more leaking or gurgle and I haven't been able to flood it no matter how hard I squonk.

Now I want to play around with different coil placements. I'm going to try it closer to the drilled cap hole although I'm getting a lot of vapor with it between the posts.

Karen, the price is back to $13.99 each. I ordered 2 more a few days ago. Thank you for finding it.

So you guys are saying the A-7 is worth having but it takes some finagalling?? I can do that- I just didn't like that it was so tall. If it fit on a Reo Mini I'd be all over it but I have 4 RBA's now...waiting on a smaller form factor for my Mini's.

I think it's a great vape with zero finagling. Well, maybe you'll need a new wick and coil, but I don't call that finagling on an RBA. I'm going to do some finagling because I like to finagle. If it ain't broke, fix it until it is. Which is why I always get 2 of anything I plan on "fixing". :D

Dave,

I've been happy with the A7 with no modifications other than blocking up one of the air holes. THe draw was too light for me. I like that I can blind squonk, I get plenty of hits before I have to squonk and I rarely ever flood it.

How did you block the air hole, toothpick or O ring?

Check out the Hornet rba for your Mini. They're in stock over at Indyvapor.com, a little pricey compared to the ERA co-op, but as much as I love my ERA, I would definitely have this if I still had a Mini. I should have my black A7 here this week to try it out. Thanks for all the tips and tricks everyone!
