Zombie calendar for March 4th; topic: On the Run
Get yourself in shape! You need to be in good condition for a long journey. If there isn't time to do this, then be sure the path you've chosen is within your physical abilities. (such as...the casino!)...

It's true. And, it's the #1 Rule in Zombieland: Cardio... The fatties were the first to go.

When the bullets run out... unless you can swing a machete all day and night... eventually you're gonna have to run like Hell.

Semi-related:

"Long distance runner what you standing there for?
Get up, get off, get out of the door
You're playing cold music on the bar room floor,
drowned in your laughter and dead to the core
There's a dragon with matches loose on the town
Take a whole pail of water just to cool him down"

I've always heard this song with an "impending doom" theme in my head. Just finding an excuse to play a little Dead. Santana helps to pick up the pace of this normally sleepy song.

Zombie Calendar for April 5th
Topic; Weapons
Beware of replica weapons such as swords, bows etc., that are meant for decoration more than actual use in the real world.
"Battle Ready" may mean the item could withstand a few blows on stage, or historical fair, but will snap in half during a life or death zombie attack. If resources permit, you should buy a duplicate item and train with it to the breaking point. Then you will know it's abilities in a true battle.

True! A lot of the swords you buy are for decoration and have a "rat tail" tang, which is basically just a piece of all thread welded to the blade to hold a decorative handle. I posted this video before, but it worth another look: YouTube - The Perils of Cheap Fantasy Swords

Expensive price tag doesnt always mean a quality piece. I have seen replica movie swords for $200+ that wouldnt last 2 minutes of medium use. Everyone knows I am a huge fan of cold steel. While its not the top of the line by any means, they build knives and swords that will handle a lot of abuse. You will definitely get your moneys worth

Zombie survival Guide Calendar
April 6th,
Topic is Recorded Attacks 212 BC China Qin Dynasty
Ancient medical manuscript records this possible proof of zombie attacks:
The only treatment for victims of Eternal Waking Nightmare is complete dismemberment followed by fire. All limbs & organs must be removed, burned and ash scattered in all directions.
Victims have unquenchable desire for human meat. If victims are encountered in numbers, only decapitation will stop them.

OT but calendar related. It's official. I haven't seen the sun for more than a brief peek in 40 days now. This is the real Seattle in case any of you ever wondered about that. It's not just that it rains alot...even if it doesn't rain it is still gray & cloudy.
So, if any of you have sunshine to spare...please...for the love of god...send some our way!!

Now that you mention it, people around here are beginning to shuffle in the aisles and make grunting noises at the grocery store...I just thought it was because they had pajamas on...(Do people do this everywhere or is it a Seattle thing??? People wearing flannel lounge/pajama pants and bunny slippers to the grocery...) Perhaps the zombie virus is sun deprivation related.
If you don't hear from me for a few days, you'll know I've been infected.

Yikes Technovaper. I'd probably implode without at least a little sun. Seattle is now officially stricken from any ZPOW that I'll want to participate in. The PJs and bunny slippers in the store certainly aren't a southern thing. here, some people wear makeup while working in the yard.

I guess the only good thing about the rain, as far as ZPOTW is that perhaps it will dissolve the undead? No such luck eh?
When I was a kid my stepfather was from the east coast & he used to say that women back east would never go to the store with curlers in their hair like women did here. I guess it's just been all downhill from there. Pretty soon people will be shopping naked with a loofa sponge in their hand..

For speed and availability, nothing beats an airplane, assuming someone in your group knows how to fly one. Fuel will be a matter of life & death. Make sure you know exactly where to stop for refueling, and be assured of a safe arrival. Ditching in the middle of a lake or ocean may keep you safe from ghouls but not from nature. Read accounts of WW2 pilots who spent weeks in life rafts after being shot down, and you may want to think twice before climbing into your amphibious bird.

Topic: Solanam; the virus
Cross-Species Infection

Solanum is fatal to all living creatures, regardless of size, species or ecosystem.

Reanimation, however, takes place only in humans.

Non-humans will die within hours of the death of it's host. Infected animals expire before the virus can replicate throughout their bodies. Infection from mosquitoes can be discounted. Experiments have proven that all parasitic insects can sense & will reject an infected host.

(so, I guess the GOOD news is...no more mosquito bites!)

Zombie Survival Guide for April 9 & 10, 2011
Topic Weapons; Firearm Accessories

Silencers can be a vital attachment to your firearm. Their ability to muffle noise obviates the need for non-ballistic weapons.
Some disadvantages are noted regarding telescopic sights & night-vision scopes, mainly battery life.
Conventional glass & metal sights are preferred.
