While they are rare, that actually is no longer true. But I still smiled when I read it.

I did a poll here sometime last year, and I think there were two that truly hated it. The button thing. And today there are many more, mainly because many now either (a) want VW because they change devices often, or (b) want a mechanical so they can really drive up the amperage, which you cannot do with a ProVari.

I only use one resistance (1.5-1.6, stainless), so VW is of no value to me. And my life is fairly busy, so rba is of no interest. I just want to not smoke, and I've comfortably found my preferences, after about nine months of experimentation. MY concern is that the cartos I like most, probably won't be around too much longer. They were made for the ePower, and are getting very hard to find. I have about a year's supply now, but they'll eventually run out. By then though, hopefully things will have changed enough that I'll be able to identify a viable replacement. Here's to Hope, even if it requires Change.

It would be easier to find a unicorn than someone who regretted their Provari purchase.

I've found the Provari one-button menu to be a boon. With my Vamo, I've had to create muscle memory to check my wattage by clicking up or down buttons before each and every firing. The Vamo's buttons do not lock, and pocketing it or having it someplace where it can roll around and change the settings on you has been annoying at times.

A noob with a Provari without instructions or proper knowledge of VV is like giving someone used to shooting BB guns an M-60. Mismatched delivery systems would be the biggest culprit. The biggest issue I have with VV and noobs is the concept of "more is better". Crank it to the max, get huge plumes of vapor and awesome flavor! This is incorrect, in a way. A noob slapping a low-res 1.5 ohm carto onto a Provari (or any device, for that matter) and cranking it to 6 volts expecting heaven, and getting hell... thus turning them off to the idea... seems to happen a lot.

It doesn't always turn off people, it turns off lazy people. Most people will try to figure out what went wrong. There is some failure involved in learning, when you fall off your bike as a kid that's when you start to learn how to stay on it.

Also, Provari's won't fire a 1.5ohm at 6volts so hell is an error message.

True, but it takes 5 to 10 minutes to figure out how it works, and it is not only ProVari related, it applies to all variable voltage devices.

I'm with you. My first VV was a Lavatube, and I was never thrilled with the three buttons. FOR ME (and I emphasize that), the single button is my best option.

AGA T2's on my black Mini and blue Provari with chrome extension cap.
Is there anything better than AGA T2? :) Is it reliable? In terms of simplicity, your setup seems better than a typical cartotank setup, but I have no experience with rebuildable atomizers. How hard is it to master and does it work well once you master it?

I am trying to put together the "pure" setup in terms of using quality juices (preferably organic/natural) and a glass delivery system that uses a cotton wick. What do you think about that? Does a cotton wick make a difference? What would you recommend?

I've only been using my AGA's for a couple of months...I'm still admittedly a noob with these. I have no other RBA's to judge them against. I've never used a cotton wick, only the pre-rolled stainless steel mesh wicks purchased online. (I did roll one myself, but decided this was the hardest part of rebuildables for me. So when I saw a vendor was selling pre-rolled wicks I got several of them.)

Is it reliable? My experience is: mixed feelings. For a week I thought that this was the ultimate vaping device yet. But then I began experiencing the "wandering ohms syndrome". Inconsistant vape, sometimes harsh vapor, inconsistant flavor. I'm certain that it has something to do with a short in the coils, but I often can't find one. Sometimes just nudging the wick and coil seems to help. Sometimes doing a dry burn helps.

They are a stay at home device. Mine will leak like a sieve if not kept upright without the juice fill hole in place. For best juice wicking and air flow, it needs to be out.

As long as you have a backup delivery device that is consistant for you (cartotanks being mine), I'd say get an inexpensive Genesis clone like an AGA T2 to play around with. I have found them to be too inconsistant for everyday use, but when I have the time to "fiddle" with them they can give you an extremely nice vape. This is just from my limited experience.

Which cartotank (which tank and which cartomizer) setup works best for you?

I do not know if you have seen it, but PBusardo recommends Smoktech RSST (no glass tank, though) over AGA T2.

I have seven of the 19 mm pyrex tanks from IBTanked, and likely will order more in the new 22 mm diameter when I can get a hold of some Pro Rings. A very high quality glass tank at a very reasonable cost.

I use Ikenvape 510 Fusion or Ikenvape Platinum punched cartomizers when I can get a hold of them. My backup carto is a Smoktek 3.0 ohm single coil with one or two laser-drilled holes.

I don't buy anything with polycarbonate plastic if I can avoid it.

I've yet to get a Protank, there may be one in my future, but I'm not a fan of the mouthpiece. Not tried the Trap Tank (not a fan of juice fill holes and is pretty expensive IMO). I have a Phiniac that leaks from a hairline crack (yeah, I know)

Phiniac tube on a Hoosier Vapes Elegance tank. The frog tank is a hand blown pyrex tank from High Desert Vapors.
